Illustrator :: CC Keeps Flattening / Rasterizing Effects?
Dec 4, 2013I have a very simple logo I am working on, and there are a few elements that have a fill, stroke and drop shadow applied. Every time I save the file and have to re-open it, all of the effects are rasterized, and the stroke and fill are split into a "grouped" object.

I tried modifying the "Transparency Flattener Presets" file as suggested here URL...but simply making the "Medium" setting the same as the "High" setting made the Illustrator menu come up with "Custom" by default containing settings for the Medium!! Is there a way to get the default to be high resolution?

Jun 20, 2013I am doing a logo design which comprises text sitting on top of a png image. The original png image has a transparent background.

When I save as .eps, I get the message "The document constrains artwork that requires flattening". So I select the image, Object > Flatten Transparency and it saves fine.

But now it's put a white background behind the image. I need the entire logo to be transparent.

Jan 26, 2014A client has asked for an advert to be reset for magazine publication. For various reasons I am preparing it in Illustrator CC (mainly that I am more comfortable with Illustrator and it contains some reasonably complex effects and blending options). Anyway the time has come to send it to the printers and I have that heavy feeling that all is not well! The Publisher is asking for a PDF

There are two gradients within the artwork, the entire background is a photograph blending into a Black gradient (the body text sits in white over the black). To get the right effect the black gradient overlay has blending option - Multiply on it and being concerned it may not print propery or have transparency issues I chickened out and justt created one whole background image in PS (photo, gradient and all) and just imported it as a single jpeg back into Illustrator (ensuring I was working in CMYK).

But there is also an outer glow and drop shadow on some white text that sits over the Photograph. Do I need to flatten the image manually before creating the PDF? Or does the creation of the PDF do this for you? When I manually do this it displays correctly providing I tick Preserve Alpha transparency.

I work in Illustrator CC, the publisher has asked for Pass4Press Ver 9, but this preset is for Illustrator CS3. Are there no updates? and indeed does it really matter?

-The big issue I am dealing with is the agency that just built a paralax site for us refuses to export to PSD. I have tried every possible way to do this but keep getting the file is to big message. To add to it they had it all on 1 layer. I was able to release to sequence, but now am trying to see if rasterizing the objects will work.

I've been commissioned to make a large print (12ft by 3ft) for a gallery. They want me to use a preferred printer who requires a final output resolution of 300-350dpi. My source file is an Illustrator file (CS5.1) containing MANY (100's) overlapping, transparent polygons). The printer initially told me that it was fine to supply the Illustrator file as two parts, 6ft x 3ft with everything as vectors. They just got back to me and rejected my files, now requesting full resolution TIFFs.
I have tried to flatten the transparency and output to TIFF, but either Illustrator hangs indefinitely halfway in the process or errors out, telling me that the combination of size and resolution is impossible to output. I've even tried to import to photoshop as smart object, etc. It appears that I'm running out of memory/cpu power/illustrator abilities even though I tried this on a quad cpu mac pro with 12GB of memory. At the moment, how to rasterize my vector art at anywhere near acceptable resolution. The image is very dense, and full of subtle changes in color and density due to the transparency. I need to preserve it as much as possible.

So I am exporting it as ".EPS" and then when I try to either "open" or "import" within Photoshop it gives me an error message (see below). Please help, I have no idea what the problem might me, I've been killing myself all day with this.

Apr 26, 2005I'm trying export a vector image from Illustrator CS 11.0.0 to Photoshop CS 8.0. I go through the process outlined in the manual and succesfully export the file. Everything works fine & I retain my layers (if I use CMYK), but my vectors are gone. The manual says I may need a plug-in but I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. My only options as far as color goes is CMYK, RGB, or Greyscale. I select CMYK and make sure "Write Layers" is selected, but there is nothing there to specify vectors.

Is it extremely simple to get a eps or pdf at 1:100 even if the drawing is at 1:1 - while retaining clarity and/or detail etc?

My understanding is that they want this scale for publication but my thinking is that drawing at 1:1 is a much better idea in case i need to use this later.

Mar 17, 2014When I export my .Ai file to .swf, the .swf has a huge red square overlaying the image, as well as some rnadom lines and chunks of other pieces of the art scattered around. Basically it's not saving as the image should be. It is a larger file size.. does swf only work up to a certain size?

Jan 5, 2014So, I'm developing a game currently and have been drawing some character portraits (busts if you will) in Illustrator CC (v17.0.0 32-bit). After finishing each portrait, I need to export them into a .png file that I can then use with MSPaint.

My troubles are that I always run into one or more of the following problems each time I export an image:

If I save the image at 72ppi, the exported images are the correct size but, they have jagged edges, which just aren't acceptable for my project.If I save the image at say 300ppi, the exported images are blown up and are too big but, they have smooth edges, which, while I want smooth edges, I cannot work with the increase size of the images.Sometimes exporting the images causes a new line around the smooth edges (I think I've heard this effect called a Halo or something along those lines), which is also unacceptable because I need a transparent background.Also, if I resize the blown up image manually, it causes develops the third problem.Â
What I'm after basically is to be able to export the image on my artboard into a .png file, have export at the same width and height it does when I export it at 72ppi, while keeping the edges smooth like they are when exporting it at 300ppi.

As a side note, I currently don't have a suscription/access to photoshop and don't have a way this month to gain access and though there are freeware programs that do a lot of what Photoshop is capable of, I can't seem to figure them out. I've mentioned this just in-case potential solutions require photoshop
AutoCAD LT :: Flattening 3D To 2D?
Mar 9, 2013I have AutoCAD LT 2008 and need to be able to flatten 3d objects. I have followed all instructions for the plot to dxb and have successfully saved the files but now can't get them to open. What are the next steps? I have tried to open a new drawing and open the dxb file using the 'DXBIN", and "DBOUT" commands which show as unknown commands.Â

Illustrator :: Color Differentiation When Exporting To PNG
Oct 10, 2012Whenever I export my artboards to the PNG format, I receive a slight change in the bitmap colorization.

In Illustrator, my colors are perfect, but when exporting to PNG, the end result shows an increase in color vibrance - making a light blue (for example) show as slightly more turquoise/sharper light blue.

PS: I constantly switch between creating graphics that are used for the web and other on-screen web applications (such as GUI's) and printed booklets and posters, etc. I've always had immense trouble finding a perfect working space with web and printed material. Any color settings or some kind of best-practice working environment to create consistent color.

Oct 16, 2012I create various maps masterplans and often need to end up in photoshop Previously worked around the psd export feature. But I have found that most effective way for me is to export a flat file to photoshop then copy the individual layers from ilustrator into photoshop as smart objects effectively rebuilding the structure of the ai file in photoshop.

Illustrator :: Exporting PDF Colors Look Washed Out?
Sep 26, 2013I recently started working with the new adobe cc programs. I haven't encountered these problems before. I have created everything using CMYK and used no images. I checked the colors in InDesign CC and the colors looked washed out as well. I checked overprint view and the colors don't change in Illustrator.

The left is a screenshot of Illustrator and the right is a screenshot of PDF.

Adobe CC uses synced color profiles so the colors should be the same across all adobe products right?
