Lightroom :: 3 - Exporting RAW File As JPEG Directly To Thumb / External Drive?
Jul 10, 2012In LR3, when exporting a raw file as a jpeg the only choices given at the top of the dialog box are Hard Drive and CD. Is there a way to export directly to a thumb drive or external HD without exporting to the HD then copying the file (s) over?

Dec 5, 2012I recently upgraded to lightroom 4 and I am having issues exporting my photos into a jpeg file. Lightroom is decreasing the size of my photo significantly, make them only about an 8 x 10 size and some as little as 3x5. I have tried everything I can think of, and it works as a tiff file, but for some reason it shrinks the picture on jpeg.

Apr 18, 2013I had a catalogue with 4 or 5 collections filled with pictures in each with stars and color filters. I just went to go open my collections to export the pictures and all my collections are gone and I did not click any thing to reset or delete anything. Only a small portion of the pictures have a star rating but none of them have a color filter.

The first import consisted of pictures from Trip 1 folder on my hard drive, the second import was from Trip 2 folder on hard drive. I see the Trip 1 and Trip 2 folders in LIghtroom 5, but am experiencing problems with emailing and exporting pictures, getting messages such as "Missing file" or "Export does not show up. Jan 31, 2014I am wondering if there is a simple way to export photos from lightroom into seperate folders based on collections.
For example, in LR5, I have collection set "2014". Within "2014", there are sub-collections Jan, Feb, March... and so on. How can I export all the photos, at once, from the "2014" collection set so they end up in a folder structure that mirrors the collection set and sub-collections. My collection is more complex and contains many more sub-collections than the example provided, so I would really like to avoid having to export each sub-collection separately.
In searching for this, I found mention of some sort of plug-in that apparently was capable of this, but I could not get it to work. The GUI was not intuitive and I didn't have time to learn it. Unfortunately, I do not remember the name of the plug-in since I deleted it. But is there any way to do this without having to learn code or install plug-ins?
Lightroom :: Full Collections Export / Import To Synchronize Definition In Different Catalogs
Aug 31, 2012I believe that only exporting the smart collection settings is not enough. I have in my collections a hierarchy of collection set, collection and smart collection that works with my workflow:
-special [CS]
-- pano [SC]
-- fuse [SC]
-themes
-- holiday... [SC]
-- ...
- worklist [CS]
-- dominant color [CS]
--- dominant color to review [SC]
--- dominant color reviewed [C]
-- weather [CS]
etc.
-- geography [CS]
etc.
Being able to export the hierarchy from one specific node would be great when I switch from catalog to catalog. After all, smart collections content can be re-created.
I've seen that in the DB, there are these two tables that would need to be 'copied' : agLibraryCollection & agLibraryCollectionContent. Their IDs when importing in the new catalog would probably pose a problem if we were just to import them like that.
On the other hand, there are in the SDK some functions to go through the collections and some functions to create collections, collection-sets, smartCollections...
Would it be difficult to include such a functionality in a future release ?Would it be difficult or possible to write in the mean time a plugin that would do just that: import/export collection hierarchies ?
Lightroom :: How To Change JPEG Quality When Using External Editor In 4.1
Sep 10, 2012I'm using LR4.1 on Windows 7 64-bit and I'm running into something quite annoying; When I open a jpeg image in an external editor (in my case Nik Software Editors) and I choose to " Edit a copy with Lightroom Adjustments" and JPEG file format I end up with a much smaller size, lower quality file before it's even saved by the external editor. I can't seem to find any settings for the jpeg quality and I'm starting wonder if I'm missing something big here...
I have dug through the forums and google searches with no luck. I do prefer to work with RAW but some of the cameras I use only output JPEG and I don't want to make unecessary conversions to TIFF.
Lightroom :: Exporting Keyword Synonyms To Photoshop / External Editor?
May 27, 2012I've gone through a lot of trouble to create keyword lists for use within Lightroom 4, but I'm finding that I lose all of the synonyms I've set on the photo when I export my photo to Photoshop for further tweaks.
Exporting from Lightroom directly properly includes all synonyms, but if I use CTRL-E to open the photo in an external editor, only the defined keywords are exported with the image. It seems unless I do all of my editing within Lightroom, I'm going to lose these synonyms.
Illustrator :: Exporting As JPEG With Use Artboards Adds To File Name
Jul 20, 2010When I export from Illustrator CS5 with "Use Artboards" checked it adds a "-01" to the end of my file name before the extention. I'm assuming that its because its artboard #1 or something. It happens with the all or the range button checked. It doesnt show the -01 when you are saving the file name. This is pretty annoying because I have to go back and re name the files when this happens.

Mar 2, 2012I installed the 4 beta and am liking it quite a bit, but I'm having trouble with gamma shifts when exporting images. When I export the image, my blacks get completely crunched -- it doesn't match Lightroom at all. It's not just the JPEG being displayed wrong -- I've looked at the exported image on a few different computers and they always appear crunched.
My monitor is calibrated (using an X-rite i1 Display 2), and I re-calibrated it yesterday to make sure that isn't the issue -- it made no difference. I made an image to demonstrate the problem:

Feb 6, 2012I just spent 30+ hours editing a set of 123 wedding photos in RAW file format. When I export to JPEG, the colors change on just about every photo. I understand that if I would have correctly set up the camer calibration prior to editing, this would have possibly solved my problem. However, the photos are already edited. When I export the files in TIFF, they look fine. It's just the JPEG file format that changes the look of my images. I'm using Lightroom 2.3. My last brainstorm involved importing the already edited TIFF files and then trying to export those into JPEG, the color format was still off.

Aug 2, 2012I just spent half a day designing my first book in LR 4. I completed the book a few minutes ago, and it was only then that I realized I don't seem to be able to export as a Jpeg or as a spread--only as a PDF, and then only single pages, so each spread is chopped in half.
LR is supposed to be a pro tool and this book module seems to be acting more like a consumer tool. If I am correct, then the entire module is basically useless to me and I have wasted half a days work, as I'll have to begin all over again in a new program.

May 5, 2013Since a couple of days when I export tiff files to jpeg the exported image looks darker. If I reimport it the histogram is evidently changed.
It looks like something messed up in preferences but I didn't make any changes (at least I didn't do it purposely).
I upgraded to the 4.4 version after this happened but nothing changed.

Lightroom is running on MacPro. When printing I am attaching an ICC profile provided by the bureau that is going to produce the prtins. Having said this the file cannot be opened neither on a Mac nor on a Windows PC.
Up until now, i used to exported as TIFFs but after reading Jeff Schewe book The Digital Print i have become convinced that printing through LR to a file is much more efficient.

Dec 31, 2013I recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 9 to Lightroom 5, When I moved the catalogue over, all keywords transferred, and Albums became collections. When I used Photshop Elements, I could easily sync the Albums with my Apple Tvs to display the pictures, as well as my other Apple Devices. I can not figure out how to export the collections to the Apple devices, especially the Apple TVs. There must be a way given the power of this software.

Jul 26, 2012I use the Lightroom 4.1 export feature to export my HDR panorama images as 16 bit tiff in a temporary folder and after that to open the images automatically in PtGui Pro 9.1.x. The problem is if I export more than 25 images PtGui Pro starts one time for the first 25 images, then a second time for image #26 till 51, and so on. This happens during all my test with multiple image formats like 8 bit tiff with/without compression or with jpegs. It makes no difference whether the temporary folder is located on an SSD or a regular hard drive.
Additional I tested LR4 Export to Hugin 2011.4.0 (32Bit) and Gimp 2.8 (64Bit) and the result is the same like with PtGui Pro: After the 25th image a new instance of the program started.
Because of this behavior in different programs, I must assume that the fault must be with Lightroom. Is there any hardcoded limits by handover of pictures to external programs?
(Windows 7, Lightroom 4.1 and PtGui Pro 9.1 are 64 Bit versions)
