Lightroom :: Exporting RAW Into JPEG Color Differences

Feb 6, 2012

I just spent 30+ hours editing a set of 123 wedding photos in RAW file format. When I export to JPEG, the colors change on just about every photo. I understand that if I would have correctly set up the camer calibration prior to editing, this would have possibly solved my problem. However, the photos are already edited. When I export the files in TIFF, they look fine. It's just the JPEG file format that changes the look of my images.  I'm using Lightroom 2.3. My last brainstorm involved importing the already edited TIFF files and then trying to export those into JPEG, the color format was still off.

Lightroom :: How To Account For Color Corrections Needed When Exporting To JPEG

When I export as a jpeg the images obviously are compressed, however, they also get darker and more saturated.  Is there anyway to compensate for this without having to overcorrect the image before exporting?

Lightroom :: 4 - Exporting Photos Into JPEG File

Dec 5, 2012

I recently upgraded to lightroom 4 and I am having issues exporting my photos into a jpeg file. Lightroom is decreasing the size of my photo significantly, make them only about an 8 x 10 size and some as little as 3x5. I have tried everything I can think of, and it works as a tiff file, but for some reason it shrinks the picture on jpeg.

Lightroom :: Gamma Shift When Exporting To JPEG?

Mar 2, 2012

I installed the 4 beta and am liking it quite a bit, but I'm having trouble with gamma shifts when exporting images. When I export the image, my blacks get completely crunched -- it doesn't match Lightroom at all. It's not just the JPEG being displayed wrong -- I've looked at the exported image on a few different computers and they always appear crunched.

My monitor is calibrated (using an X-rite i1 Display 2), and I re-calibrated it yesterday to make sure that isn't the issue -- it made no difference. I made an image to demonstrate the problem:

Lightroom :: 4.1 - Exporting From Book Module As JPEG Spread?

Aug 2, 2012

I just spent half a day designing my first book in LR 4. I completed the book a few minutes ago, and it was only then that I realized I don't seem to be able to export as a Jpeg or as a spread--only as a PDF, and then only single pages, so each spread is chopped in half.

LR is supposed to be a pro tool and this book module seems to be acting more like a consumer tool. If I am correct, then the entire module is basically useless to me and I have wasted half a days work, as I'll have to begin all over again in a new program.

Photoshop :: Color Differences

Mar 20, 2004

In viewing/creating anything in photoshop 7.0 (and I tried 7.x) the color is different than in any other program... if for instance I take a solid red 255,0,0 and fill a new file - it appears more orange than red. I can take the color picker and it shows the correct RGB say of 255,0,0 but again, it shows orangish on the screen.

ALL other graphics programs, including Imageready DO show the correct color... but NOT Photoshop! - I have tried changing the color preferences up the wah-zoo - nothing. I have tried reinstalling photo 7.0 no avail, I think (or thought) perhaps it was after I downloaded CS to try - to see if I would upgrade ????

this could be far off the mark, but at this point my graphics development work is hurting because I if I develop/create anything in photoshop I have to have another graphics program also open just to see what the true color looks like.... PLEASE help. I really don't know what else to do besides finding and deleting ANYTHING related to photoshop/upgrades etc and reinstalling again.

Photoshop :: CS2 - Color Differences Between Image When Opened And After Saved

Feb 15, 2012

Using Adobe Photoshop CS2. I'm noticing a color difference between an image I'm working on in PS and the final image - after it has been saved.

For example: working on a image of earth. The image on the web has very deep blues. but when I open it into PS, it looks very purple-ish and when I save it, the color is blue again.

Sometime the difference is slight, and other times it is definitely noticeable. Is there a setting I could adjust? One that would keep the image's true color?

Also, I have eliminated the possibility of a monitor situation. I have used the same monitor on both systems with the same result.

Illustrator :: Color Differences Between High And Low Resolution Images In Pdfs

Jan 14, 2013

OK, I'm creating a tradeshow graphic for a client. I designed the whole thing in Illlustrator CS6. But for the proof, I used a low res image of the sky (before we purchased it). Everyone was happy. It was a low-res RGB image imported into Illustrator, then the whole thing was exported as a pdf.

Once they approved it, I purchased the high res image. RGB. Same image... just high res. I popped it into the Illustrator file and exported it in exactly the same way. But now, the image looks much more purple. The low res pdf showed it as much brighter, lighter blue.

My client prefers the lighter blue. When I look at the two images in Photoshop, they look the same (in terms of color). should I be worred? Why is there such a color difference?

Lightroom :: Color Space When Exporting From RAW

May 24, 2012

when exporting a photo, does Lightroom convert to a profile or assign a profile? Because there is no way to choose. I tried to export a photo with 3 different color spaces (sRGB, AdobeRGB and ICC profile from laboratory where I print my photos). After exporting them to JPEG it turned out that all of them look differently on my monitor - does it mean that Lightroom assigns a profile? If it was converting, shouldn't they have the same colours? What is more, after printing them in laboratory, results were completely different than I expected - the photo which had closest colours to what I saw in Lightroom was that in sRGB, but that with ICC of Lab was very different (much colder colours).

Where is the problem, or what aspect do I seem to misunderstand? Do I have wrong settings, should I use DNG to work with photos, should I export to TIFF, or I just have too weak monitor or wrongly calibrated one? Should I calibrate when viewing a picture in Lightroom or with the use of a photo exported to the ICC profile of Lab?

I would like to have a little bit of control over what I'm working on, depending on whether I want to publish it on a website or print. I know that my monitor can be a problem (I have an iiyama with IPS), but surely there has to be any way to make results of my work a bit closer to my expectations.

Just for information, my workflow doesn't require Photoshop, as I rather prefer to use only tools from Lightroom. I hope that my problem doesn't require the use of Photoshop.

Lightroom :: Preview Color-shift When Embedded JPEG In Raw Is In SRGB?

Oct 14, 2012

With LR4 and a Nikon D7000.When i import that raw in lightroom, the first view of the picture is fine then LR do its "loading" and bang, the picture changes. As RAW is not supposed to be affected by the colorspace My understanding is the embeded preview in the raw is sRGB and LR work in a different colorspace. If i change the camera for AdobeRGB, i dont have the problem and what i see from the camera to the preview then the final result is consistent. But this cause me another problem because i shoot RAW+jpeg, the backup JPEG saved in the other memory card is now AdobeRGB as well and less compatible as everybody knows, for web, print labatory, etc...

I dont have in LR any automatic developement settings. My screen is calibrated with a Spyder 3.

I'm feeling stuck in the corner as i want by backup JPEG in sRGB and n o colorshift in LR.

Lightroom :: Colors Differences Between JPG And Raw

Jun 10, 2012

I have a doubt on colors and monitor profile. I am using an imac with monitor calibrated with Spyder pro3 and shoot photos with a Canon 500D (RAW+JPG).

I recently added a cir polarized filter to my camera, and really satisfied of colors I see in the camera screen, and the same colors I see on my imac when I look at jpg files. Unfortunately when I open photos on Lightroom 4.1, colors seems the same while loading the picture (probably reading the jpg) but than suddenly changes when rendering the preview and in develop module. Colors seems less vivid like missing some contrast (in attachment an example of the same file opened with lightroom and apple preview in raw and jpg).

I know that jpg created by camera are different from raw files, but actually never had such a difference in colors with all other photos I shoot before. Is this because of the filter or do I have to set anything in particular in lightroom, such as monitor profile or others?

CorelDRAW X6 :: Exporting To JPEG

Apr 5, 2012

Which exporting method/format do you use to export your CorelDRAW projects? I'm talking about exporting web projects for Web purposes so the default colors of my doc are RGB, the default resolution is set to 300 dpi.

I tried many combinations, but the only way to get EXACTLY the same image as on my screen, is to do a "print screen" and then paste it on any photo editing program with no background, and save as JPEG.

I calibrated my monitor with Samsung's Natural Color Pro, and I added the created profile to "RGB profile" in "color settings" (so I don't use the standard sRGB profile).

Another information, I exports my projects to .JPG format, maybe I'm wrong? I use .JPG because the results are acceptable and the exported file size is low compared with other formats.

First of all I don't use the "export" option from the "file" menu anymore, because after a few attempts and combinations with this option, the results were just AWFUL, even when I opened the .JPG file on the same computer on which the project was created (so in theory it should be OK on my screen but not necessarily on other computers with sRGB, or custom calibrated profiles). I think it is because CorelDRAW embed my "Samsung Natural Color Pro ICM" profile, which won't display the image correctly on computers with other color profiles installed.

That's why the tool I use to export is "export soft proof" in the "color Proof settings", clicking "preserve RGB numbers", also in .JPG. With this option I have the possibility to embed another color profile, for example sRGB or even AdobeRGB to the project, and the results are acceptable but... they STILL look slightly different from what I have dispalyed on my screen. And here I think the main reason is "background color" option. I cannot uncheck it, or set to "no background", and I have noticed that the chosen color influences the look of my project. So with white color background it will be a little "washed out", with black it will be to dark etc..

With .PNG format I also don't get satisfying results, I tried with different settings combinations, still the colors are washed out with no saturation, maybe I didn't figured out yet how to set it properly?

Finally, I can get a perfect result (in that sense that as far as I can see, it is identic with what I have on my screen in CorelDRAW) with .BMP format, but first I don't know if this format is compatible and adequate for Web purposes, and second the files are pretty big after such conversion, even after decreasing the resolution to 96 dpi.

Photoshop :: Exporting EPS To Jpeg

May 20, 2004

I know absolutely nothing about DTP, and I recently got these product shots of on a CD that are all in EPS format (with a little blue "WARP" on the thumbnail). Anyways, when I fired them into iView Media Pro so that I could catalog and batch manipulate them, I made some thumbnails that automagically had transparent backgrounds!

You see, I was planning on lassoing each of the products from their background myself, but it seemed to be already done for me... except I can't figure out how to export them as jpegs in Photoshop. Every time I use "save as" the backgrounds are also included. If I open the files in something else like Fireworks, the backgrounds disappear... unfortunately FW doesn't allow batch processing of EPS files, so I am going to be forced to open and resave all 120 of these pics if I don't figure out a way to do it in PS.
