I cannot seem to exprt my images and retain the orginal jpeg file number once I have watermarked them... I choose the "save with original file number" option in the drop down list but it still exports them with new numbers. How do I keep my original numbers?
View 30 Repliesthis is in regards to a Lightroom 3.5 exported JPG. This was a year ago when I had been told it was best to export files with simple renumbering of them from 1 to x... instead of retaining the original RAW 4-digit file name.
I've currently lost the original files, and need to do a search for them via these 4 digits to see if I have them tucked away in any of my drives. I downloaded a metadata explorer, and it's telling me all the lightroom editing information, and everything else, but somehow does not have the simplest of information — that 4 digit original file name.
Am I grasping at straws or is there likely to be any way to find this information out? I don't work with metadata, so there wouldn't have been any customizations to how Lightroom configures this...
It is convenient to add each image name as a text on each figure by Slideshow. Could I use each image name as the exported file name?

View 8 Replies View Relatedusing lightroom 4.3 when I edit a group of photos in lightroom, most of the files will only be edited in lightroom but a few will also be opend into PS6 (by right clicking > edit in>) Once the PS edits are complete the image is saved & I return to Lightroom. When I export the entire group of images - I set the file name to 'custom name - original file number'. The images I edited in lightroom only - all are renamed as expected (ie wedding photo-1234, wedding photo-1235). The images I edited in both lightroom & photoshop receive the custom name but lose their file name (ie wedding photo-, wedding photo-1, wedding photo-2, etc.) When viewing these PS edited images in lightroom - they do show the file #, it is only after export that the file # is lost..
I wish to maintain the file names for all of the images.
How come the file size when I export from Lightroom is substantially smaller than the original file size? My original image file was 6MB, but when exported from zlightroom the file size for that file is only 2MB. I want to export full size files so that they can be published or enlarged.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to export a JPEG so that the file size is smaller, for use on the web. So the file I have is 1.1 MB. I try to export via LR4 using the percentage slider, but no matter what percentage I use, the file size is always GREATER than 1.1 MB! And if I try to limit the size by inputing a value, say 1000 kb, I get an error message saying I can't do that for some reason:
Also, this is not the case with just one file, it is numerous files.
I need to export an image from my LR4 as an 8 bit .jpeg file. How do I do this as I don't see a way to do this in the export screen.

Print to JPEG in LR5.2 produces a corrupt JPEG file that cannot be opened.
Lightroom is running on MacPro. When printing I am attaching an ICC profile provided by the bureau that is going to produce the prtins. Having said this the file cannot be opened neither on a Mac nor on a Windows PC.
Up until now, i used to exported as TIFFs but after reading Jeff Schewe book The Digital Print i have become convinced that printing through LR to a file is much more efficient.
Exporting files to hard disk with the original item set for file type. dng file shows up on the exported directory as the cropped / edited photo and there is no sidecar file.
When I click on the history panel for this export panel, it brings the photo up in the non cropped version just as I would wish.
I did do an unclick on "embed fast load data" in preferences and then an update dng preview as the fix for the banding problems when viewing dng files in irfanview and picassa and that worked, but hope it did not create my problem described above.
I am trying to reduce the file size on a large number of jpeg photo's for unsertion into Windows Movie Maker. How do I compress the slides in a batch job? Can I do it in Photoshop Elements?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a preset that allows me to export my photo to a subfolder of the original folder. In my case it's simply called jpg export. This allows me to do all my edits when the shot is in it's original "Date taken" folder and all my edited shots from that folder show up in the jpg export folder when I run the preset. My issue is that the jpg shows up in BOTH the original folder and the jpg export folder. I know it's operator error but what's wrong with my settings? Under Export Location I have Export To: Same folder as original photo (this is the reason for my problem but I am not sure what to change it to) Put in Subfolder: is checked and the folder is called jpg export. Add to This Catalog: is also checked.

I tried to export a 48x32 inch file as a jpeg at 300 dpi from CS6 (very basic file).
Immediatly got the message that Illustrator was unable to export at this resolution.
So, I opened the same file in CS5 and it exported it under the same settings with no issue at all?
Does this mean that CS6 export is worse that it was in CS5?
I'm trying to export a jpeg for web, selected 300w by 165h [as instructed by No 12 Design] at 72 ppi but LR consistently changes this to 220 by 165 during export! I can't figure out what's going on
View 1 Replies View RelatedI accidentally exported original photos in low quality (reduced size from 12MB to 600KB), as I needed to quickly (herein lays my mistake) upload them to a proofing site which requires me to reduce the quality of the images significantly. I NEVER usually do anything without backing things up, or before making a copy etc. This time however, I was in a BIG rush to get these to a client and I not only exported the original files (even though I exported to a new folder, somehow, the originals got reduced as well without me noticing), but I also deleted them from my memory card (I tried card recovery software and no luck). What I'm left with now is a folder full of low quality, useless images and no (known) way of restoring them to the original high quality (12MB) state. Here are some other details:
Program: Lightroom 2
Computer: MacBook Pro
Camera: Nikon D7100
(I only post this as I used my camera to delete the images off the memory cards...not sure if there is a way to recover via camera?)
Images no longer show in preview (yes, I deleted them from there too!)I did not back-up I tried scanning my hard-drive, memory card and external drive with recovery software (no luck)the images were on 2 memory cards and, as mentioned, I deleted them using my camera (when I ran the recovery software, only images that I originally deleted via my computer came up - which were the "did not make the cut" photos from the shoot that I deleted in Bridge - the rest of the photos, which are the ones I need, are not coming up in the scan)These images were to be used as posters, so high quality is crucial. I'll try to write this logically, but as logic has failed to get me the output I want, I suspect somewhere there will be something highly illogical...
I am trying to export a JPEG file, complete with images. I have setup the original file to 2362x602 pixels, at 300 ppi (making a canvas approximately 200x50mm). This is confirmed through Image -> Canvas Size.
Now if I want to print to paper, I can check the settings through Image -> Print Size, to confirm what size I will get.
What I want is to be able to do the same thing for an export jpg function. I need the JPG to come out at a specific dimension, not a specific pixel size. If I export my file now (File -> Export) as a jpg, I end up with a jpeg much wider than 200mm. A quick rightclick->properties shows me the jpg is still 2362x602 pixels, at '300dpi.' So why is that not the size I expect it to be?
I have created an image on illusrator CS6 and am ready to save it.
I have saved it as a pdf format and the image stays as a sharp vector image and not blurry at all.
But I also want to keep the image as a jpeg. So when I go to export the image from illustrator CS6 as a jpeg, the end result comes out blurry and not sharp anymore, but more jagged on the edges of the image.
Is there anything I can do to keep my file as a jpeg with it staying as a sharp crisp image?
Whenever I tell LR to edit a photo in PS (CS6), I get back a TIFF file that is 10X larger than the orginal RAW file, and I ultimetly delete it to save space (after first converting it to a jpeg). Why doesn't PS do LR style non-destructrive editing, i.e., why not simply return a record of the edits made in a format compatible with LR?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using Lightroom 5.2 64bit version on my windows. After I export my raw in to the jpeg it has noise. But in the develop module it hasn´t. Also it has got a little bit noise in the library, but it´s the same picture. Where is the sense?
Here are some pictures of that problem:
1. The finally edited raw picture which I want to export.
2. The view from the library, you can see a little bit difference on the quality compared to the view from the develop module.
3. The jpeg after the export.
4. My export settings.
I don´t know what to do! I´ve googled a lot but nothing found.
