May 17, 2012Is there a way to change the default increment for the X and Y value boxes in the Transform area of the Control panel? When I have an object selected and want to move the object by clicking the arrows beside the X and Y boxes the object moves 1/8 inch for each click. Is there a way to set that to 1/16 inch for example?
A screen grab is attached showing the area on the Control panel in question. I've checked all the Preferences settings I can find but haven't found this one yet.

Nov 27, 2013My Plugin does not use global suite references. Instead it acquires and releases suites as required. The problem is with the panel. I want to get the size of the panel when the size is changed (so I can change size of embedded wxpanel accordingly). To get the size, I need to acquire panel suite. However, the SetSizeChangedNotifyProc callback method only provides panelref and no message or anything else. How can I get the suite in this scenario?
Also this piece of code to embed wxpanel inside aipanel, handle resize etc is going into a dll so that it can be used by multiple plugins. So I do not want to use global suite ptr.

Mar 11, 2014i have a guge artwork and i need to select a small groups (around 10-100) of objects from about 4000 overlayed objects and then group'em/split-to-layers for usability (This is a human body infographics for medical institute) There IS NO way selecting them from canvas because they are overlayed, and sometimes not visible at all. in CS5 there was a feature to select multiple objects by Alt+drag selection icon on the most right in the Layers Panel. Now the duplication mode turns-on when i try to perform it. So.. Ho do i select multiple object without need to click through thousands of them? (i need drag-select)

And I want to activate path03 to path09 for further modifications - I would have to select every single path by clicking on it in the Target column.
Is there a faster way like selecting path03 and than holding the Shift-key and selecting path09 ? <- (This obvious solution doesn't work)

But if I need to select, say, only red, blue, yellow stars... I need to click the ◎ icons to select each sublayer. when I have so many objects to be selected on layer panel.
I use CS6 on Mac. Is there any secret shortcut key to select objects on layer panel by "sliding a mouse"?

Apr 9, 2009"Can Illustrator allow the user to control the size of halftone dots?" Just to be clear, for silk screen, the dots must be course. I have read several posts on the subject and still there is no definitive answer. The PPD file has been loaded. The document is a CMYK. In the print menu the separation menu has only very fine settings available (The lowest is 56 lpi/300dpi) which if selected makes very little to no difference in the dot patterns.
Just to reduce confusion, often a silk screen printer will try to get two colors for the price of one. The simplest example would be to get Black & Gray with one screen. If I set the Gray to 50% and the Black to 100%, still no change. If I use spot colors like PMS Cool Gray and Black, no change. Moving the files into Photoshop may work but fundamentally speaking PhotoShop in my opinion is for constant tone images or Photos, and it seems counter productive to add in a extra step (and software) to the work flow.
I like Illustrator and have invested hundreds of hours learning and promoting it's virtues. When I was asked by a local shop how to do this task, I responded,Can I do this or do I need to tell my associate to keep using CorelDraw! 7...

May 22, 2012Having trouble moving objects between layers by simply dragging the right-hand dot to a new layer? CS6 won't let me drag the dot on any kind of selected art from any kind of file I've tried..
Click the name of the desired layer in the Layers panel. Then choose Object > Arrange > Send To Current Layer. Drag the selected-art indicator , located at the right of the layer in the Layers panel, to the layer you want. But method #2 doesn't work at all for me. In fact, the cursor doesn't even change when I mouse over the selected-art indicator dot.

Nov 15, 2013It would be a nice feature to have a control panel in Inventor where you could take certain driven constraints and put them on this control than hit a momentary button to make your model move. Once example would be a hydraulic cylinder. Presently, we drive the cylinder to put things into motion, but I have to access thru browser and usually add symbols to make the constraint stand out (See image). If I had a control panel where I could tie that driven constrain to it and depress a toggle/button which would activate the constrain. I would then have full control and almost act like it would in the real world.
