I've uninstalled, then re-installed CS4. While I can get at CS4 Illustrator, Bridge and InDesign, the one I need (Photoshop) doesn't open. I get the error message "Could not open a scratch file because of disk error." When I click "OK," the program shuts down.
I just installed Photoshop CS4, both the 32 and 64 bit versions (part of the "Master Collection"). After opening the programs I changed the scratch disk location to two separate drives other than where Photoshop resides, where it had placed said file as a default. Now neither Photoshop versions will open.
I get the following message:
"Could not open a scratch file because the scratch file is locked..."
Just one problem, there is no scratch file visible on either of the two drives... My operating system is Vista Ultimate on a 64 bit Quad CPU machine with 8Gb of ram, two Raptor HDs, four 750Gb HDs configured into one RAID 5 drive and Nvida GEForce 8800GTS graphics card.
Running PSD 12.0.4 (Extended) on a Mac Pro, Mac OS 10.7.3. Plenty of ram; plenty of hard disk space.
I just finished installing a new 1TB drive in one of my bays; I now have (3) 1TB drives total. Initialized the new drive (Mac OS Extended/Journaled), partitioned for Lion, then installed the OS and migrated everything from my primary (boot) drive using Migration Assistant.
After finishing, PSD gives the following error on start: "Could not open a scratch file because the disk is not available". I can command+option on start, select the boot drive as scratch and set the rest to None; that configuration works (and sticks). However, if I try to set scratch volumes to either of my backup volumes, I get the same error. Additionally, Illustrator can't even see the other two volumes in the scratch disk selector (PSD sees them, but won't accept them).
Here's what I've done:
- using simple disk drive names (i.e. WD1, WD2, WD3)
- verified all drives with Disk Utility
- ran drive diagnostics on all drives using SMART Utility (no problems found)
- reset paramter ram (comand+option+p+r on Mac startup)
- repaired permissions (all volumes - no permission errors found)
I've gotten this a couple of times recently. Scratch is on a separate disc and large enough. This was a from a 2 x 2" document as I was trying to paste a smart object from Illustrator.
All my MACINTOSH versions of Photoshop - S5, Elements 10, Elements 11 - display the opening start screen, but ABORT THE LAUNCH of the EDITOR with the error message:
"Could not open scratch file because of disk error."
"Could not initialize Photoshop Elements because the preferences file was invalid (it has been deleted)"
I have cleaned up my external disks so that they all have at least 100GB of free space
How can I correct this so that I can recover the Preferences, re-establish the Scratch Disk, and launch the Photoshop Editor?
After I save a file for "Web & Devices," when I open it, it returns this message, "This file contains file info data which cannot be read and has been ignored." Will this cause any problem with the file once I place it in the website I'm building? I've never seen this message before on a photo I've edited. The changes I made involved color correction.
The file is .psb (large document format). I am on a mac, OSX10.7.3, PS CS5.1. I have been working on this file for some time, and this message suddenly appeared, which of course has stopped all work, and the job is almost ready to be printed!
I selected all photos in a Tag in the Organizer then selected Create. No matter what I try to create, only about 1/3 of the selected photos appear in the project bin at the bottom of the page. I refreshed thumbnails for all photos and it still happens.
There are blank spaces with numeric filenames (not actual file names) between the thumbnails which display. When I double-click a blank, I get a message "Cannot open '[filename.extn]' because it is the wrong type of file." All of the files are jpgs edited in PSE. The only reference to this message I have found was a FAQ about Cannon files, but these are not.
I have not subscribed to the extended version and it ran out today now when I boot up cs6 the message is could not open a scratch file because the disk is not available.I can't get into adobe cs6 now
While trying to do a full backup to an external hard drive, I am getting a message "error encountered while writing file" after about 75% of the 14,000 photos. I believe I have traced the problem to a missing slide show presentation program that was on an external hard drive (F) I no longer have. The program still works (from the C drive), however if I click on the program thumbnail in the Organize screen (which points to the F drive), and try to delete it, I get a message "An error occurred while reading files or writing files to disc. The disc may be full or there may be a problem with the source media." I believe that is because it is looking for the program on the non-existent F drive. What can I do to enable a backup?
As it did not working well in Win7, I have been uninstalling VS Pro X2. So, I purchased the downloadable upgrade version of VideoStudio Pro X3. The problem : I'm not able to open an existing VSP file. I get this error message : The file "name.vsp" is already in use.
I have an ai file that I can not save with out getting the File I/O error message. One person suggested that this file may be corrupted since I've been bouncing back and forth between 2 different Illustrator programs. I use CS-4 at work, save as CS-3 format then continue working on it at home. I tried copying each layer to a new fresh doc. but still get the error code. Is there a way to fix this file? Both back-up files I have behave the same way.
When I double click an AI file to open it, I get this message: "Can't open the illustration. There is not enough room for the window, increase document area and try again". This error started happening about a week or two ago. Although it is inconvenient to have to go to File>Open and then locate the file to open it since I am used to doing it the other way at least it is a way to open the AI file. I just discoved that if I double click a graphic in a Adobe Acrobat Pro using the Edit Object I get the same error message. This is a problem.I have checked previous discussions about this and tried things like unchecking the "open as tab" option in the preferences but that does not work.
I've recently updated one of my PC's. I tried to launch VS x5 and I received a "corrupt file message" with error code 38. I've read all of the previous threads here and others online referring to Protexis Licensing V2 in the Services tab. I've un-installed, reinstalled several times. Would be nice is a "Repair" option was available. I've entered the serial numbers, several times, made it to the "Register Product" page but can never get the program to start. This was an update from VS 4 and I've entered the serial number for that when prompted. I have the program working just fine on another completely new system. Both are running Windows 7.
why I get an exclamation point error message upon closing an AutoCAD file? And it can be two or three of the same error. That is, I close one error message and another follows it.
I just switched from PC to MAC and have troubles using the PC catalogues, or better: associating the images.
I copied the catalogue as well as the images to the MAC harddisk. When I open the catalogue I see the images, but they cannot be found on the disk. So I search on the harddisk for the new path but after finding it I get an error message "Die Datei "xxx.CR2" ist mit einem anderen Foto im Katalog verbunden." In English something like "The file "xxx.CR2" is associated/connected with a different photo in the catalogue."
Lightroom 4. Can't get error message that a particular file is missing off the screen. I have verified that the file is gone. Now how do I get rid of that message
so i recently restored my computer back to factory settings .. so my computer doesnt even have any new downloaded app .. i download photoshop cs6 now im getting scratch disk errors ..which i dont see possible if my computer doesnt have anything on it (besides what it came with) my hard drive has 276 gb i only used 33 . i made an external hard drive and that has 8 gb ... also its moving very slow .. also its telling me i cant make an new canvas size 1920 x 1020 with an resloution of 300 .. im using windows 7 Toshiba
I have the latest version of Photo and Graphic Designer 9, and I have two .eps files that I cannot open because when I try to open them directly or import I get an error message that says that there is an error detected in the EPS file at line ####. These are files that I purchased and downloaded, and presumably they should not have errors. I don't have other software that is meant to open EPS files, so I cannot verify personally, but I do have reason to assume they are valid files. I saw this post that mentioned the same type of problem -
I am unable to save an image as a jpg file!!! every time I try, I get the following error: "Not A Regular File"
I can save as png, but not jpg!!! the original format was psd, that error message came up when saving as jpg... when I saved as png, I closed Gimp and reopened the png file, but I STILL get that error message when saving as jpg!!
Strangely, every time I click "save" in CS6 it opens up a 'Save As' window, (which shouldn't happen), then I click save witht the existing file name (it then tells me the doc already exists), I click OK, (and then OK to the next popup window) then get the message that "This file cannot be found". I'm forced to click "ok" and the doument isn't saved. I've tried saving it differently in previous versions and it still doesn't work. I recorded a video of this behavior. You can see it here - [URL]
Why would it be trying to find a file? It seems like an error message when trying to Open a doc, not Save a doc. I can't shutdown my station until I get the document to save.
I receive that message when I try to open a new document. My others such as Photoshop and In Design are fine as far as I can tell. I'm using CS4 on Windows 7.
I've recently encounterd a problem while trying to export images out of Lightroom 4. I keep getting an error messge "File canot be written." This is happening whether I'm exporting a Jpeg or a raw file. Cannot figure what has happend but it's doing it with old and new files, so it's not an issue of a corrupted file.
I am using Corel Graphic Suite X3. I created one file of 330 MB. It contains text and images....
But now when i am opening this file it say "File contains Invalid Object" "IGNORE:ABORT:RETRY"..I chose every option but nothing seems to happen and corel draw gets hanged..I tried importing it..also i tried re installing it but nothing seem to work...
this file is very imp and i have to open it...Wht to do? Also any future precautions, if any?
And am i using the right version? Im mean is is because this is the lower version and i need 2 upgrade?
I came across an interesting problem. I was using PaintShop Pro to import a RAW image from my camera, then export as a TIF for use in CDGS X6. When I tried to import the file into CorelDRAW or PhotoPaint, I got an error message:
(X) Invalid compress data
I could see a thumbnail image in WIndows, and I could open the file in IrfanView. Re-saving the TIF from IrfanView allowed me to open it in CDGS.
I thought the problem was with PSP, and reported the issue to the product team, but then I tried exporting the same TIF from PhotoPaint (from the same RAW image file), and when I tried to re-open the TIF, I got the same error. So PhotoPaint could not read the TIF exported from... PhotoPaint!
Smaller files don't seem to be an issue, but my camera files are in the neighborhood of 5000x3000 pixels, and the TIF files weigh in at around 50MB.
I get the following error message when trying to export a file from LR 4.1 using Windows 7:
Unable to Export: An internal error has occurred: Win32 API error 2 ("The system cannot find the file specified.") when calling ShellExecuteExW from AgWorkspace.shellExecute
