trying to make CLASSY GLASS BUTTONS. I am stuck at STEP 7 because I can't find the menu/tool "Transform>Scale tool". I have PS 7.0 on my PC.
I am trying to design a dvd sleeve using only photoshop. I have several photos on several layers that need to be sized the same and I have been using the info/navigator tool as a guide. I notice that after transforming the scale my photo loses sharpness and when I enlarge it is pixelated. I must be losing pixels/information when I transform the scale of the photos- the more I transform, the more I lose detail.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen "show transform controls" is checked and I have a layer selected, a white border shows at the edges of the layer with small boxes at the corners and midpoints. Hovering above one of these boxes changes the cursor into the "scale arrow." Traditionally, clicking the border with that arrow and holding down the mouse button allows you to scale down the layer by dragging the mouse.
In Photoshop CS5 (and perhaps other new versions), clicking the border and holding the mouse button has no effect. Dragging the mouse reverts the pointer into the "selection arrow" and drags the image across the screen instead of resizing it. This is because when you click on the border, it suddenly expands into a larger area. Only by clicking once and then letting go can you move your mouse cursor to the newly defined edge and then scale down the image. This is incredibly frustrating and adds a second, unneeded step in the process. Because I instinctively try to grab hold of the border as is, I usually wind up dragging the image by mistake.
I selected a layer in order to scale it. When I click the link between height and width and then change the percentage up or down the object I'm trying to scale simply disappears. I can see the edges and the transform tool 'handles' but the layer is not there. I've never had an issue in any other version of Photoshop. What the heck is going on?
Doesn't matter whether I use the percentage tool in the upper palette of Photoshop or just shift and drag to scale. The scaling object becomes invisible.
When i enlarge the size of an image (using free transform, or scale) in photoshop CS2, the resized image gets blurred (or smudged) as soon as i've accept the larger size. How can i prevent this from happening? I'm trying to work with few pixels, and when it smudges the edges i get tons of colors i don't want.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn CS5 if I choose the either the Transform or Free Transform tools (having created a new layer for the image) I get an error message saying ‘could not transform because the initial bounding rectangle is empty’.
I’ve used the Transform tool successfully in the past and have checked through the Adobe instructions carefully (there isn’t much to them really) and I cannot see what’s wrong.
I have one problem. I'm using transform tool to scale part of image, but it doesn't look good. Maybe I should use liqify tool but I really don't like it. Here is example of how it looks, at the top left corner of this site [URL]....
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently Photoshop CS6 crashes when I attempt to use the Free Transform Tool through the shortcut (Ctrl+T).
It also crashes very often when using any of the free transform/transform tools via the menu as well, though not as often as the previous listed situation.
I just installed CS6 last night on my laptop and I was super excited to use it..As I was about to edit a picture, I pressed the Ctrl+T... next thing you know, photoshop cs6 just crashes. My OS is Windows 8, photoshop cs6 64-bit, it's the latest version too!.
View 20 Replies View RelatedWhat is happening is whenever I use any transform tool in Photoshop it will freeze, the window won't go white like frozen windows normally do in W7 but it'll just sit there being completely unresponsive to clicks. The only way to quit is to go into the task manager. The other notable thing is whenever this happens I can't just restart Photoshop, I have to restart Windows completely! it even screws over other Adobe software, Dreamweaver won't work either once this error has occured.
Not only that but OpenGL never works anymore either, I can use Photoshop for like thirty minutes before OpenGL stops working. This one's obviously less intrusive but I still enjoy having the OpenGL features on.
The only other symptom I can think of is that once the issues start happening (or just before they're about to happen) the cursor will dart very quickly all over the screen. The actual clicks themselves will still happen in the right location but the visual cursor itself will constantly be moving, like half of the time it'll be in its right spot, the other half it'll be in a random position. I've tried unplugging both the tablet and the keyboard/mouse reciever but it still darts everywhere.
Everything else on the computer works fine, it's just Adobe software playing up.
I have tried:
- Adjusting performance options thoroughly
- Disabling graphic card features
- Reinstalling CS6
- Switching to 32 bit CS6
- Reverting back to CS5/CS3 (it still happens on those ones too)
- Trying four different versions of video drivers (320.18, 314.22, 310.70, 306.23)
- Reinstalling Windows 7

At some point, several months ago, my sister and I were playing with transform (by phone, we are in different states) -- she had taken a Photoshop class and wanted to try to duplicate something.
I tried using my type tool yesterday, and couldn't see anything when I typed. (White background, black text, Arial, 14 pt, 100%). I've tried clearing type presets. I finally tried blowing it up to 500% and saw a small, gray font-like image where I was typing.
I held down Ctrl and played with the transform box: if I expanded the box, my text is there. I've tried clicking on everything at the top when in transform. How to get my type tool entering text in the regular way.
I'm animating a picture, have the limbs on different layers, so I can just simply use the free transform tool to rotate them into the good position.
Although it's a pain to always reset the pivot point from the center. Is there a way to make Photoshop remember where I want the pivot point to be?
The Pen Tool is my favorite / go to selection tool. But can it do the following...I've made a path and converted it to a selection, then filled the area with a color or texture (on it's own layer).
Now I find that I need to adjust (fine tune) the shape I've created / filled with color or texture to better fit how / where it's being used. Is is possible to invoke the path handles and get it to adjust the filled area as you move / adjust the path. (This is not a shape, not using the shape tool.)
I can select the filled path / layer and free transform but that does not give me a fine enough adjustment.Puppet Warp doesn't really fit the bill eitherA good example of what I want to achieve is similar to when you put type on a path. When you adjust the path the type moves to conform to the changes in the path. I want to do the same thing with the area I filled using the path.
When I free transform and warp a layer to lie flat, sometimes I'll get this harsh pixellation at one end of the layer. It doesn't appear while I'm doing the warp, just suddenly coming up when I hit enter to apply the transformation.
So for example, Ill be transforming this grid, which is originally about 9x this big.So when I''m running the transformation/warp, it looks like this Not great, but at least most of the lines are still intact on the left and back (the right side is basically fine looking) But once I hit enter, I get this And now like, half the lines I did have are gone, and what's left is super pixelated.
Is there an interpolation setting I could be using? Is it something unavoidable from how distorted I make the layer?
I'm experiencing strange behaviour of the Free Transform Tool.
Free Transform determines the size of the shape including the points handles. Tested the same in Photoshop CS6 but it works normal there. Check the screenshot please:

I just started using illustrator CC and realize that when I clcik Transform tool button, the program crashes. It shappens even if no document is open.
I am using a mac with OS 10.7.
Is there a function, script or way to use the type-in transform tool in the unwrap edit window? I know there was a script (Unwrap Tools 1.6) a few years ago I used with 2009 but you had to overwrite max's default unwrap edit window, and I don't want to do that. I'm using 2012 design now

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just installed Illustrator CS6 trial. I have been on Illustrator 9 for years. I am used to clicking on the type tool, then clicking on the artboard and typing a single word. I am not using actual text boxes. When I do that in CS6 I cannot get a bounding box to show me how to resize it using the transform tool (arrow tool). I've gone to view>show bounding box, but it does not do anything.

Thought I knew Photoshop well, but after scouring the preferences and what-not, I'm stumped.
Using transform tool to rotate, often gradients do not rotate. In the example below only the "w" gradient did. Good news is the rotate tool works fine.
Appears this has something to do with compound paths, as this normally does not happen on a new single path. Releasing the compound also rotates the gradient unexpectedly.
Where i can find the scale tool in photoshop cs6... I am new in what menu it was but i don't use it that much..

Problem: Transform applied to Smart Object fails to transform an attached Smart Filters Mask.
I mean a Transform, including Free Transform, as found in the Edit menu. A simple move by the Move Tool is OK.
A workaround until this bug is squashed is to encapsulate the Smart Object + Smart Filters + Filter Mask inside another Smart Object and transform that.However, that will not be a satisfactory solution in some cases. If a filter has size parameter(s), e.g. Gaussian Blur radius, a scaling or warping/distorting transform applied after the filter will obviously differ from the filter applied after the transform.
In any case, the workaround is inconvenient to subsequent editing and experimenting with filters and masks.
I´m using PSE 12. Is it possible to scale the sidebars and the tool icons? These are much too large compared to my workspace.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter pasting in a PNG, and it's made into a Floating Selection layer, she wanted to scale it down using the Scale tool. So she clicked and dragged till she got the right size, but upon clicking on Scale (in the little dialog that pops up with the Scale tool), the dialog box vanishe ... and the layer went back to its original size. She tried multiple times and got the same problem.
I even got her to click on "Cancel" rather than Scale in case it was a traslation error, like the translator mixed up the Scale and Cancel buttons, but nope.
Scale tool in my illustrator is not worrking.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have checked the road map for GIMP and I have seen that the Unified transform tool can be expected in version 3.8. (ugh)
Now what I would like to ask is there any tool or plugin for GIMP that can transform my selections? Or is there any open source image editor that can do it.
I'm not an artist and just for this I have to use Photoshop. For me PS is an overkill for just cutting up an image.
When I try and scale anything, I hit the hotkey R and the 3 manipulators appear. No matter what I click on, X,Y,Z,or center, when I move my mouse I get an "automatic" jump increasing the size. I can't seem to get it to do anything but these staged jumps in size. I cannot scale anything down, unless I use the universal manipulator tool. So, for example, if I want to scale a size 2 sphere to a size .8, I would have to use the universal manipulator and Shift-click on one of the matrix corners and that will allow a uniform scaling. I realize that I can always enter the scaling amount in the Channel or Attribute box field, but it may be that I'm trying to visually scale something and entering numbers isn't exactly the best way.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently when I click on an image/layer to rescale (like I have done hundreds of times) the height figure resets to 1 px. When I try to increase it back to the original figure, nothing happens apart from weird lines that appear below the image. It started yesterday, after I was in the middle of a project and Gimp crashed (which it has never done before). It does not matter how many new projects I start, after a while the scale tool stops working.
