Maya 2012 is slow on win 7 64,moving vertex, extruding polys,sculpting,the viewport responds slowly if maya dosen't crash at all!

Lightroom :: Print Module Responds Slowly Or Not At All

I am using Lightroom 4.3 64 bit. My PRINT module is responding slowly or not at all. I had been using Lightroom 4 upgraded from Lightroom 3 with no issues for some time. I did upgrade to Windows 8 and noticed no issues with Lightroom. Recently however, my PRINT module started responding slowly to print settings and commands...with "Lightroom - PRINT is not responding". This issue started gradually and has increased over time. Making it almost impossible to print now.

I have a shrinkwrapped file. Now the link is broken from the actual assembly and the orginal assembly is now gone. Now in this shrinkwrapped file, there is a portion that I want to isolate. Is there any way to delete / remove the other parts that i dont need? Extruding, sculpting and delete faces dont work. So far the only thing I can do is add extrusions to the part but not remove.

With the scenarios set up below, it seems that these files are taking unusually long to open and save (up to 20 minutes on scenario #1, up to 7 minutes on scenario #2). Is this typical for the filetype described?

SCENARIO #1
[Running 32 bit Windows XP on a 2.3GHz ThinkCentre M55p, 2GB RAM, Photoshop CS1. Have files ranging in size from 50MB to 325MB. Application installed on C: drive, primary scratch disk is on partitioned D: drive with 3.96GB free space, secondary scratch disk is on C: drive with 53.98GB free space. Largest file has about 12 layers, including 3 layers with rasterized PDFs and about 9 layers that have blocks of filled color with craquelure & inner shadow added.]

SCENARIO #2

3ds Max :: Poly Modifier - Vertex Errors In Viewport

When using the Edit Poly modifier with Vertex selection enabled, the blue dots will frequently do any of the following:

- Only appear for half of the model
- Randomly appear or disappear
- Take the shape and colour of gizmos and tools.

These issues only seem to occur when Edged Faces is enabled. This makes modelling (and rigging) extremely difficult for me and is proving to be a constant frustration. Here are the steps I have taken to try and fix this:

- Rolled back graphics drivers.
- Updated graphics drivers.
- Switched to OpenGL mode.
- Switched to DirectX 10 mode.
- Pressed the "Delete Isolated Verticies" button.
- Disabled DirectX mesh caching (not sure of the exact name for this)
- Uninstalled 3ds Max 2011 and re-installed.
- Uninstalled every Autodesk product and cleared the registry as instructed by this page: URL...
- Re-installed 3ds Max 2011.
- Installed 3ds Max 2012.
- Installed all 3ds Max service packs.

All programs and games run perfectly on my system, including Maya. The problem lies solely with 3ds Max.

I'm currently working on a model and there are a few faces that need extruding. Whenever I go to extrude them rather than just adding to the face it simply takes the face moves it back (or forward) and adds sides to it, so rather than being a solid extrude it's a concave area.

AutoCad 2D :: Moving Vertex On A Line

I know this is probably very simple and despite having been using CAD for 15 years I cant find the answer.

In every cad version Ive had, you can do the following:

-You draw a simple line, then you want the right vertex to move 500mm to the right, so you select the vertex, pull to the right with polar tracking, type 500, and job done. Same if say you wanted the same vertex to move up, down etc.

If i try this same thing with a line at an angle, it works as i would have thought, but if i do it with a horizontal line and want to move the vertex horizontally, it seems to act weird and draws the line 500 but from the left hand point.

I extrude without smoothing and it looks fine, but after smoothing, everything splits up.

I'm pretty sure that 'Keep faces together' when extruding does not work correctly in 2012. Well not on my mac anyhow. If you wish to replicate my problem here is my workflow-

Create cube poly > make some subdivisions> select some faces> extrude with 'keep faces together" unchecked> Select a face and use move tool, notice that faces will move apart as they should> Now select some more faces> extrude with 'keep faces together' checked this time> select a face and use move tool> notice how face is still separate as it SHOULD NOT be.

Maya :: Make Windows By Extruding Selected Subdivisions Inward Using Z Axis

Currently, I'm trying to get through the following lesson: [URL]........

My problem: I'm at the part where I need to make windows, this, by extruding selected subdivisions inwards, using the z axis. The problem is that the selected faces wont enter the building. In others words, the selected subdivisions wont extrude inwards, so that no recess (or window) appears. They go outward just fine, but going inward, the subdivision remains lined up with the outer face of the structure, so that no recess appear and the structures face remains flat.

3ds Max Animation :: Moving Object Through Vertex Space And Into Boolean

I used an example to represent a more complex animation that I am working on. Basically I have a block moving in vertex space because it is morphing.A proboolean cut has been applied to the block with a diamond shaped object, so that as the block morphs through space, it is being cut by the boolean operand (diamond shape object).

However, I want to achieve an outcome that when the object moves through the boolean cutting operand, whatever geometry that has been cut, stays cut and removed. So in a way, the boolean cut operand object acts as a "geometry eraser". Obvioulsy I would like to be able to control this behaviour too (soft selection, animating boolean cutting operand).

Is this achievable? Or do I have to look at another set of tools/modifiers?

I am not in soft select mode. If I go to Soft Select I can see the CV's. But when I right mouse click to select CVs they are invisible. If I drag to select I can grab them, but they are still invisible and it's getting really difficult to manipulate things right now.

I'm working on a mobile game engine that uses RGB vertex color values for baked lighting, and Alpha vertex values for 2-material blending.

The system works fine in textured view (6), since we're rendering using our own shaders, but I would prefer to be able to turn on and off the alpha value when looking at the geometry in shaded mode (5). In other words, I want to be able to store and bake RGBA values, but in shaded mode I'd like to only see the RGB values so the meshes with blended materials don't show up transparent when I'm trying to light them.

Maya Modeling :: Easy Vertex Manipulation?

I've been using Maya for a little while, and have often found manipulating vertices frustrating.

The problem is that - as far as I can tell - I need to select a vertex before manipulating it. This is annoying because I have to click a vertex and then click and drag it again to actually move it (not so easy on a tablet). Also, if I'm off by even a slight amount, I click the object instead and I pop out of vertex selection mode and back into object selection mode.

I could simply click once and drag to move vertices and if there was no vertex under my mouse when I clicked, I wouldn't accidentally select an entirely different object.

I'm using Maya 2010.  why this is happening, and how to fix it?  I have a piece of polygonal geometry.  I have confirmed all the culprit vertices are on the zero X axis.
