AutoCad :: Move Lines From Different Heights On Z To 0
Mar 15, 2012
Is it possible to move lines from different heights on the Z to "0"?
I am trying to use Architects drawings that have multiple line that look to intersect on looking from the top. but when you view them the front or side they are on different heights.
When I draw lines that don't start/end touching a line drawing by the Arch they are on the "0" height on the Z.
Not sure what they used to draw these original. Using Arch lines as reference to draw detail is not working very well, its taking way to Lang to do anything.

Use the view to choose between front, top and Isometric.
Any way using autoCAD LT 2014 to get CAD to display the elevation heights of survey points without having to type the heights in text bozes next to each individual point. i can insert a field which displays the elevation of the point but doing this again i would have to do every point individually.
Another words is there a way to select all the survey points required and get CAD to display a certain property, which in my case is the elevation height of that survey point, next to it? so it looks like x 23.35 x 23.57 etc..
Whenever I try to extend or even move lines or shapes, it also moves the line it's connected to.
So I have a line attached to a rectangle. I select the singular line only, and I try and lengthen it, and when I do the rectangle also moves with the line of the amount I extended it. How do I turn this off? I was able to cope with it for a bit when it first started but now it's just downright annoying.
I am using some drawings created by others in ACAD 14. I am using the existing font styles contained in the drawing which utilizes the Simplex font. However my text heights are different. My 1/8" font height is slightly larger than the 1/8" height contained in the drawing. When I use Properties to check the fonts it shows Simplex font and 1/8" height for both existing and new text, but mine is visibly larger. And it prints larger. I'm using LT'09. Win XP
A red box appears when i go to move a line. When the red box comes up on the line, the command box says 'Specify strech point or undo to cance'l. How do i put everything back to normak because i cant move any lines or resize them how i used to??!!
Im trying to move radial dimension text away from the dimension line so I can add in text between the dimension and dimension line.
#1 is the default style #2 is what happens when I do "Move text only", it moves the dimension line to inside the radial and I do not want that. #3 is how it looks when I just manually edit the dimension text #4 is how I want it to look
#4 is a combination of dimension and a manually added leader with the dimension line removed. How can I move the dimension text on a radial without the dimension line automatically moving to the inside? Or is there another way to add in text outside the box while having the dimension text offset from the line?
I have for days now tried to export a 3d polyline from Autocad Map3d into ArcGis so that i may be able to view a height any where along the polyline. I just keep getting a height of zero.

Is there a way to move all the feature lines in a surface from one site to another site all at once? I know how to do them one at a time, but when I select them all, right-click "move to site...", it does nothing.
When I use the move command to, let's say, to move a floor plan (drag to new location on the page), some of the lines in the "moved" floor plan are either skewed or missing. I'm able to "cut and paste" as welll as "copy with basepoint" w/out problem.
I have just been doing some work for a company and they were using AutoCAD 2009.
One of my tasks involved stretching and moving items from imported drawings over Architectural layouts. Lines drawn on the x and y axis were fine. However, if I zoomed in on angled lines they moved out of view making them difficult to select or position to a snap point. If I selected those lines then they remained in place when I zoomed in.
When I approached the company manager he replied by saying that he would zoom in then zoom out to the point where the lines were correct and in place. I thought that he was either joking or was testing me! It meant I could not do any detailed work - which contradicts the use of Auto CAD.
The question has to consider the fact that the lines were angled and that they remained static when selected. When zooming in and selecting them they were off and running out of the screen view. also note that my colleague at the next desk opened up the file on V2008 and he could zoom in okay. I was also using a wide screen if this matters.
Is there a way to force Inventor to dimension without snapping to various Z heights within a drawing view? I have basic top and side views created however when trying to dimension overall lengths and widths i'm snapping to high and/or low points of the model and getting screwed dimensions.
I'm new to drawing and I need getting my text/dimensions to be legible on an 11x17 sheet. I had no problems when my company used Arch D (24x36) but in an effort to "going green" we converted to the B size paper (11x17).
Any useful chart for plotting in different scales. Maybe a standard size chart. I usually print in 3/8", 1/2", 6", and full size paper space viewports.
What I would like to do is create volume calculations from spot heights. All i have is 4 rectangles with a 10m interval, nine elevations, no points or anything else.
What steps do i have to go through to make this possible?
I can edit the cleanup in place just fine and in plan all is good, but in 3D, the height of the modfied region is not the full wall height, just some random height.
I have a 3 story building. We are almost finished with design development. I need to raise the building's first floor which will cause all the other floors to change their level heights. I have been told that we need to fake in level markers because to change the level heights will cause all the information (for example dimensions) to disappear because they are 'tied' to the original level height. Is there a way to raise the building without loosing all the work that has been done?
What would cause lines to move left/right some seemingly random distance in an elevation view? Rarely, I run into an issue where detail lines and filled regions added to an elevation view (not text, or leaders) will move some random distance, I've attached a PDF showing the issue. No other elevations, plans, or sections have anything wrong with them. The model has not moved to a different position.
I would like to watermark a logo on a batch folder of photos, but the photos are different heights (but same width). If I use text in Photoshop it's not a problem, but if I use my logo the Action places it in different positions depending on the height of the photo.
What I am looking for is a way to have the logo placed in a relative position to the bottom right corner of the photo. Say, 25px from the bottom and 0px from the right. I am unsure of how to achieve this relative placement.
Is there a better way of achieving this (screen snip attached). To get the roof segments off lower plate heights I have added in temporary walls corresponding the higher plate height, picked by footprint then extended the overhang on these segments to hit the lower plate height. Then erase the temporary walls. But this detaches the edit footprint-edit overhang function.
Is there a better way? If only a line element would host a roof to enable slope and overhang association.
With no luck, I have been trying to figure out how to insert a blank value for ceiling heights in a finish schedule. There are other rooms with blank values, however it appears that rooms that once had a ceiling can no longer have a blank value. From the research I've done it seems the only way to correct this may be to delete and recreate the room.
I re-opened a drawing this morning and found some text to be different height from the rest. When I attempted to adjust all of the heights to be the same using the properties method, they all became bigger. Instead of all of them going to 6", the 5" text went to 6" and the 6" text went to 7-3/16". So, I checked the formatting size and the properties size and they did not match. See PDF.
If I have a dynamic block of a window. I can move either side of the block but the basepoint doesn't move. Is there a way to move the basepoint as well so its not off in space? or just delete it and have it now shown?
Is there a way to have multiple vertices selected at multiple positions (heights) in the z axis and enter a value of 0 and have all of them jump to 0 in the z axis? Seems like a no brainer to me, but can find a way to do it.
In the example below, I would like to select the three dimensions 14'-1 3/8's, 2', 28' and be able to move them all up or down at the same time...how do I do that?
