I am having some trouble trimming a line using a circle as my cutting edge,the line falls short of the circle,I have tried changing EDGEMODE and still the problem persists!

View 3 Replies View RelatedUsing Autocad 2000LT and trying to locate as many 1.5" diameter circles as I can within a 21" diameter circle keeping all the circle .500" apart from any other circle and .500" away from the outer edge. Am using the array function. Trying to bring the first circle up to the line thats .500" in from the 21" outside diameter.
First when I zoom the 1.5" circle looks like a series of lines, not a smooth round circle. First how do I smooth out the appearance of the circle. Second, what commands do I use to move the edge of the circle to just tough the line so that when I measure from the outside dia to the far edge of the small circle I get 2".
When I use the circle tool it trims the hub away from the spokes. How do I do the opposite, trim the spokes away from the hub? (Novice, CS3, XP)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI drew 2 circles with ttr command (1 and 2). The problem is when I try to trim them to remove the part I don't need, it doesn't work cause the circles 1 and 2 aren't stick with the borders as they should. At the 4 red circle points, if you zoom you'll notice they don't stick the border, never faced this problem before (usually I cut the part I don't need without problem). I've done regen/all but doesn't seem to fix that problem.

I cant post the part that I am actually using, but here is an example of a similar problem. In the attached file, open the "Negative Part.ipt". The sketch 2 contains a line (unconstrained). I need this line to be tangent with the curve below it.
I can project the edge of the curve to my sketch plane, but not the tangent of the radius.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a photoshop noob but am learning fast. I'm having a bit of trouble doing something that I imagine to most of you is quite straight forward.
Basically, I have a square image (3000px x 3000px) and I want to cut out an exact circle from the centre of the picture. So I choose the Ellipitcal marquee tool and place my cursor approximately in centre of the picture, hold down SHIFT and ALT and drag to the desired circle size. Next I press V to bring up the alignment toolbar hoping that I could centre the selection to the exact middle of the picture but I can't. PS won't allow me to select any of the alignment buttons.
After this I want to take the CUT image and paste as a new image so that I have a just the circle and it's contents and no rectangular background. I'm sure PASTE will do this but I can't get this far.
I have two intersecting objects, which I merged.
Problem is, that the merged object has a pertruding edge, which I want to trim off, but I can't. I tried drawing a rectangle over the unwanted part, but for some reason, the rectangle, or any path I try to make around that edge, it shifts to the left, as if it is snapping. I don't know if it is because I'm too zommed in, but there must be a way to intersect the two seamlessly...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to trim one side of a circular surface by using a projected line that forms my trimming line. The original surface is simply a circle that is swept along a path (like a tube/cylinder). When trimming by using the projected line it wants to cut all the way through the surface (i.e. both sides of the tube/cylinder) but I only want it to cut out one side. Is there a way of allowing this or do I create two semi-circular surfaces, therefore only cutting/trimming in effect one side?

I am attempting to take two surfaces and cut straight down through a set polyline and get the difference between two surfaces. Do i want to use the bounded volumes to do this? Or can i simply create two surfaces and and use the analyze/volumes tool and just select the two. I would then add the boundary to each surface to limit the data.
My concern is since the two surfaces do not meet along the edges which will cause the math to be off.
I am not able to dimension to a circle edge when adding a sketch to existing feature of part. It works fine when it is the first sketch of the part file, but not when it is a child sketch. I've attached images of both situations. This has been verified on two machines, one is Inventor 2013, the other is Inventor Pro 2013, SP 1.1. The feature that I am trying to sketch on is the face of a contour roll.

When I attempt to dimension a circle, I get the following error message:
Select arc or circle: Object selected is not an arc, circle or polyline arc segment.
A few days back, I got this error message, and when I came in the next morning, I was able to dimension the circle.

when I try to cut out a freeform selection, it blurs the edges around the remaining image. Since I want to be able to piece together the images later, I want to avoid this. How?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is to trim a line that crosses another. I draw lots of plumbing plans. It draws a circle based on 'dimscale', trims a line to that circle, then erases the circle. The problem is if you miss the trim point (PT2) it does not erase the circle and you lose your object snaps.

I have a little problem with trim in autocad 2012. After trimming some lines that cut through a circle there's a big gap between the circle and line, so there's no way i can create a polyline. How do I fix it?

I am trying to draw the part as shown in attachment. I started off with the base rectangle whose dimensions are 120 * 42. After zooming out completely, it's still too big and takes the entire screen space. If I draw the rectangle and scale it, say by .5, would I have to scale every other line/circle that I draw from there on individually? Or is there a more efficient way to do this?

I’ve an already drawn inclined line from a fixed point (saypoint (0,2) on Y-axis). The inclination is also fixed (say 150 tothe horizontal). My objective is to draw a circle with one quadrant at a fixedpoint (say point (1,0) on X-axis), so that, the line becomes a perfect tangentto the circle. I have a sketch of the damage on the chute block. I created the chute block as a solid and then drew the damaged area extents using plines. This created non-planar plines. Is there a way to get this to work that will allow me to see the volume of the concrete damage?
