Aug 30, 2011I moved to a new PC the other day and have not been able to extend or trim to a line that is not connected. I figured it would be an apparent intersection but maybe I haven't got my settings right as it's not working. I am having to drag the lines right now and it's not very accurate!

Aug 30, 2012My Client save AutoCAD 2012 file into AutoCAD 2002. Now he is facing a problem that whenever he is working on that file some commands in AutoCAD 2007 like Extend and Trim is not working on existing lines and X-ref lines. And when i open that file into AutoCAD 2012 and 2013 then all commands are working.
when he create new line and try to use these commands then all commands are working but when he try these commands on existing lines and X-ref then commands are not working.
AutoCAD LT :: Trim And Extend Don't Work Intermittently?
Sep 6, 2013This problem has cropped up in the last few months. It only happens intermittently.
Typically I select Trim, or Extend command, right click to select All rather than a specific object, then selcet the objects to be trimmed or extended.
Sometimes though, the All command is not activated and I have to select the object to be trimmed or extended to, then select the objects to trim, etc. Then the next time I right click for All it works.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Trim And Extend Will Not Work
Feb 14, 2013I am using Autocad 2010. I have been using 2008, but recently upgraded. I have a project that one particular file is driving me nuts! I can not use trim or extend on any existing line work. However, if I draw two non intersecting/crossing lines and ust the 'TR' command it works fine. I have checked to see if all lines are in the same plane and the appear to be. The only way I can trim or extend is if I use the 'Flatten' command.

Aug 14, 2012A problem i have encountered with LT 2011 is the extend or trim command freezing/taking a long time to extend or trim.
If i zoom up close, extend/trim works as normal instantly, but if i zoom out further & try the same extend/Trim it can take 30 seconds or more.
I dont remember having this issue on previous LT versions, I've found this with many if not all drawings

Jun 28, 2013My 2011 AutoCAD LT for Mac just started randomly changing the trim, fillet, and extend variables. I looked on other posts and learned how to change them back to the default settings. Since then they keep changing back every few minutes.
Specifically, the TRIMMODE keeps changing from 0 to 1, and the fillet trim mode keeps changing from TRIM to NOTRIM. One of those settings seems to make the extend command also not work as expected. I've been using this AutoCAD install on this particular Mac for over a year. The only recent change is an upgrade to OS X.

Dec 24, 2011Everything is on one layout/sheet.
Currently there are a total of 3 viewports in an L formation. The fourth viewport, will go in the upper right. But first, I have to get these aligned.
I think the viewports themselves are fine enough. The problems arise because the model is in Model space so, construction line (as far as I can tell) didn't want to snap to a line, (on the model,) in Paper space.(vertical or horizontal) So, I can only see the construction line, in one viewport at a time. Which means, the construction line is not visible in the viewport immediately to the left. So, I can't extend the construction line across both viewports, to to snap them to the construction line.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Extend Feature Line Arch At Grade
May 10, 2012I had thought this would work with no problem. I know the elevation I need to start an arc at and an elevation at a point along the arc. I drew that portion of the arc and then extended the arc to a line where I need the arc to end. I had expected the arc to extend along it's current grade the way a straight Feature line would. But the end dropped to 0.
I undid the extension, listed the FL arc to get the grade, extended it again and used the Elevation Editor to set the previous grade. But why didn't the extension work? I checked for other FL in the site that might cause this but there were none.

The original surface is simply a circle that is swept along a path (like a tube/cylinder). When trimming by using the projected line it wants to cut all the way through the surface (i.e. both sides of the tube/cylinder) but I only want it to cut out one side. Is there a way of allowing this or do I create two semi-circular surfaces, therefore only cutting/trimming in effect one side?

Photoshop :: Using Shift Key To Extend Line Or Paint Stroke
Aug 2, 2012I've been using a very old version of Photoshop for the last 10 years and I'm used to using the shift key to extend a line or paint stroke. By that I mean, I use the paint tool to make a dot and then hold down the shift key and make another dot elsewhere and that creates a straight line. I just purchased CS6 and that function doesn't seem to be happening. Is this something I need to activate in a preference?

Revit :: Family Instance Won't Extend To Full Length Of Line
Jan 22, 2014I have made a Family that is based off the Metric Structural Framing - Beams and Braces template. When I import my Family into a project and create a instance of the Family (which is a channel) the channel doesn't extend the whole distance of the geometric line. Its always 1500mm long (thats the default length in the .rfa file). See below image for my problem:
I made my extrusion inside the Left Elevation view and not inside a Floor Plan view; simply because it is easier to create the complex geometry of it. Maybe this has affected its inability to stretch to the length of the line? How can I edit my family so that the extrusion will stretch the whole length of the line/beam?

Jan 25, 2007Is there a way to set up autocad(2004) so that when I insert a block, the block then automatically breaks the line I am inserting it on. My drawing's are mostly electrical schematics so the line I am refering to is the circuit and my blocks are components. At the moment I insert my block and I have to use the command 'break'. “Rotate” and “Align” are possible commands to align the text with particular line. Parallel constrain is another option to do so but will make the drawing “busy” with additional parameter.
Equally, what if I need to make a block parallel to a particular line? In this case, the “parallel constrain” doesn’t work!
