View 4 RepliesI moved to a new PC the other day and have not been able to extend or trim to a line that is not connected. I figured it would be an apparent intersection but maybe I haven't got my settings right as it's not working. I am having to drag the lines right now and it's not very accurate!

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Client save AutoCAD 2012 file into AutoCAD 2002. Now he is facing a problem that whenever he is working on that file some commands in AutoCAD 2007 like Extend and Trim is not working on existing lines and X-ref lines. And when i open that file into AutoCAD 2012 and 2013 then all commands are working.
when he create new line and try to use these commands then all commands are working but when he try these commands on existing lines and X-ref then commands are not working.
This problem has cropped up in the last few months. It only happens intermittently.
Typically I select Trim, or Extend command, right click to select All rather than a specific object, then selcet the objects to be trimmed or extended.
Sometimes though, the All command is not activated and I have to select the object to be trimmed or extended to, then select the objects to trim, etc. Then the next time I right click for All it works.
How do I extend a line to a block or trim? seems like every time i trim or extend the line to a block the line won't recognized/notice the block. what can i do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Autocad 2010. I have been using 2008, but recently upgraded. I have a project that one particular file is driving me nuts! I can not use trim or extend on any existing line work. However, if I draw two non intersecting/crossing lines and ust the 'TR' command it works fine. I have checked to see if all lines are in the same plane and the appear to be. The only way I can trim or extend is if I use the 'Flatten' command.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use AutoCAD 2013 to create a complicated roof. What is the best way to extend 3D solid roof planes and to trim 3d Solid roof planes that intersect each other? I have tried slicing and can't quite get the hang of it!
View 9 Replies View RelatedA problem i have encountered with LT 2011 is the extend or trim command freezing/taking a long time to extend or trim.
If i zoom up close, extend/trim works as normal instantly, but if i zoom out further & try the same extend/Trim it can take 30 seconds or more.
I dont remember having this issue on previous LT versions, I've found this with many if not all drawings
My 2011 AutoCAD LT for Mac just started randomly changing the trim, fillet, and extend variables. I looked on other posts and learned how to change them back to the default settings. Since then they keep changing back every few minutes.
Specifically, the TRIMMODE keeps changing from 0 to 1, and the fillet trim mode keeps changing from TRIM to NOTRIM. One of those settings seems to make the extend command also not work as expected. I've been using this AutoCAD install on this particular Mac for over a year. The only recent change is an upgrade to OS X.
I am finishing up the exterior design of a building which consists out of metal plating which should be laser cut with a pattern. Now I drew the lines for the laser cutter as a template which will fit the pattern into the contours of the exterior design. Only problem which occurs is that my pattern, which I have group to easily copy, creates very slow desktop performance.
How to I external trim all the groups at once because it does not seem to do this. I can´t attach the cad-file because manager won´t let me. but it trimmed some of the group but not all the lines in them. How is this possible? I've tried blocks but they don't clip either.
I've been looking to download a lisp that can trim (TR) and the (PE, join) polylines. two at a time or multiple... I've tried writing the lisp routine but I cannot do it correctly.. Any good lisp routine? Also, if there's one to trim & fillet w/a radius.. Hopefully there's two different routines but if there's one then even better...
View 6 Replies View RelatedAs the above mentioned, I have a drawing drawn using polylines with width from someone. The width of the line are suppose to represent area,
To put things into prospective, here is an example:
The polyline is 10 unit long and with a width of 2 unit wide. If i explode that polyline, it will become a single polyline without width. The line are suppose to represent 10 unit long and 2 unit wide; representing an area.
My question is is there a way to change the line above directly from polyline with width to a close polyline (4 x polylines) of 10 unit long and 2 unit wide.
How to draw 3D polylines, or convert single lines to polylines?

Is there a way of converting 3d polylines to polylines with an elevation?
I have a dwg of contour information, the contours are 3d polylines, because they are contours the z value is constant all along the line, so there no question what the elevation of the polyline would need to be.
I need to do this as I then need to import the dwg into a GIS programme called MapInfo whch doesn't read 3d polylines.
I have access to AutoCAD 2004 or 2005LT.
`How can I extend the red "peg" in the attached model, by 8 mm either side? (I created it as a sweep)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get a window (dynamic block) in a wall. Short Window.jpg I can get it to rotate to the axis of the wall. I can get it to fit the thickness of the wall. I am darned if I can get it to fill the full 2m allocated (upper solid line).
It seems a window can only be 1.5m wide, but that seems a bit odd. How di I control this?
how to extend a solid object. You can see at the picture that I attached what I mean and also I will try to explain. I draw a fence 1.5 m high. At one specific part of the yard I want the fence to be 2.0 m high. So I moved upper part (horisontal) of the fence to the height of 2.0 m. Now I want the 2 vertical poles to "extend" to that height. Now I can delete those poles and use extend command from the bottom and then use silce command. I was just wondering if their is a command that I can use to grab the pole as it is now and pull it up to the new height if that is possible without erasing it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have turned off or unchecked "Extend leader to text" (Multileader Style > Modify > Content > Extend leader to text) in all my templates.
Yet, when I start a new drawing using those templates, that feature is turned on (checked) again.
I've tested this several times. Yes, I'm using the same templates I've been saving. I've even created a new template from scratch with none of our standards in it. The check for Extend leader to text keeps returning.
I've tried this in both AutoCAD and Civil 3d.
Any way to duplicate this?

I have a rectangle shape (a 3D polyline) as in the attached DWG. I want to Offset, Scale, Extend (call it whaever you wish) so that the new 3D polyline (after the scale, offset or extend) is at the same plane as the original one.
Obviously the Z values of the new 3D polyline will be different from the original.
I need to extend the existing ground profile. I previously had stopped the profile at 25+00 as shown in the attached. However, I need to add on another 100' to 26+00. I can only view info in the Profile Properties. I can't change the end station.
How do I get it to extend?
I have added a pipe network to my profile view and for some reason the structures do not extend down to the inverts of the pipe. So the pipes are lower than the structures. I tried changing the sump, and the rim to sump (rim to sump can be editted but immediately goes back to what it originally was when you click apply. I've also tried clicking the structure and extending it downwards but it doesn't change. I've tried changing the stye and still have the same issue.

View 1 Replies View Related is there a way to extend the hatch if the region is later extended? bd.png
the yellow highlights show the regions that are “empty” in hatch after the boundary has been changed. My current approach is to first delete the hatch, then re-apply it, but it can be very inconvenient if there are multiple regions to change.
Is there a way to automatically associate the existing hatch with new boundary (either extended or shrunk)?
I am currently trying (trying being the operative word!!!!), to create a block of a cill, which I can rotate to separate angles.
Problem I have is getting the internal lines to join each other. I have tried so many different ways to get them to meet, but seriously struggling. I can't seem to find anything referring to extending lines or trimming lines in a Dynamic Block.
My question is how do i extend lines to a specific point? I have attached a before and after image below for an example. But obviously it takes to long to do this line by line and getting the spacing correct. Is there a way to do this?

Using AutoCAD 2014 I'm trying to model the tummy cut on the back of a guitar similar to this:
2013-06-03_15-46-23_140_zps0a2815e5.jpg
I've modeled it to my liking using a mesh surface, how can I "subtract" this area from my 3d solid body? I also have Fusion360, but don't really know how to use it.
Assume that I have an odd pyramid 3D-solid say with a polygon basis that lies on a "floor". The apex was higher than the ceiling, so I "sliced" the pyramid to fit it right under the ceiling.
Now, I change my mind and want to make the ceiling slightly higher (say, 1"): after raising the ceiling I am left with a sliced pyramid that is cut 1"below the ceiling. Question is : what is the best way to re-extend the pyramid (and make it look like it was cut by the higher ceiling) ?
I cannot just "undo" because too many things happened in the meantime.
I can imagine re-creating the unsliced pyramid by press-pulling the upper sliced surface and then slice this extension with each side of the original sliced pyramid and ultimately re-slice with the new ceiling. Can I do better / faster than that ?
Whenever I try to extend or even move lines or shapes, it also moves the line it's connected to.
So I have a line attached to a rectangle. I select the singular line only, and I try and lengthen it, and when I do the rectangle also moves with the line of the amount I extended it. How do I turn this off? I was able to cope with it for a bit when it first started but now it's just downright annoying.
