AutoCAD Inventor :: 2011 - Added New Engineering Note And It Doesn't Show Up In Browser
Oct 27, 2011In my part, there was already an existing Engineering note.
I wanted to add another note. I added my new note, but it does not show up in the browser. I can right click on the note note > Display note and both notes are shown in the engineering notebook. When I exit out of the notebook and go back to Inventor, still not there. Here is a short video of what I am seeing.
[URL]. The "Rev B" noteis the original one and Note 2 is the one that I just added.
Now I if I add another note, then all of them will show up in the browser. This is not the first time that I have seen this, but just thought I would bring this up.
This part was just made with a copy design from Vault. What is weird, is that if I go to the part that this was copied from and add the note, it shows up correctly then. Its like something is getting hosed in the copy design process.
AutoCad :: Plotting Drawing - XRef Shows Up In Preview But Doesn't Show Up On Plot
Jan 22, 2013I have a drawing that I created with acad 2010 that has a pdf xref attached. I just updated to 2013. And now when I go to plot the drawing my xref shows up in preview but doesn't show up on the plot.
I can go back to my 2010 version, and it plots fine. What gives?

May 23, 2011After I plot to pdf, I get an error message: You do not have a PDF viewing application installed. Go to the internet and dowload a pdf viewer. The problem is that Acrobat Reader X is installed on my computer. I saw the thread about Reader X having spooling issues, so I reinstalled Acrobat Reader 9. Still get the same message.I can go to the file afterwards and open it, despite this message, but it is supposed to open from Architecture after it is plotted and it won't do that.

Sep 6, 2011Lately I've been trying to plot a drawing with solid hatches of varying transparencies to pdf in Autocad 2011. I have plotted drawings like this successfully before, but with this particular document, the hatches are being rendered with a strange texture of horizontal lines as if printed by an inkjet printer running low on ink. An example is attached - all hatches should be smooth.

I have experimented with some variables and found that it only happens when the layers containing these hatches have any value for transparency other than 0, regardless of whether they overlap.
I've tried copying just the lines and hatches shown in the attachment to a separate dwg and the result is the same.
AutoCAD LT :: Page Setup For Batch Plotting - 2011
Apr 10, 2012I am trying to batch plot 60 .dwg files to PDF. When I do this, it slices off a piece of the title block on the right.
When I plot a single files I can set it to extents, 11x17, and center the plot, and the PDF comes up perfect.
I save this page setup and try to batch plot again, and when there is only one file on the list, my saved page setup is available in the dropdown menu. The second I add another one, my setup disappears from the list, and the import option doesn't appear to work (I choose a .dwg that my setup has been applied to and nothing happens).
Is there a trick to applying a saved page setup to an entire list of drawings in the batch plot utility?
AutoCAD 2013 :: Plotting To PDF With Transparency
Dec 12, 2012I have multiple drawings I've been working on that have tif files laid in the background that I have been making my drawings over the top of. In order to make the linework easier to see, both on screen and on plot, I applied a 65% transparency to the layer containing the tif. Everything worked fine, and printing worked great, but when I tried to plot them to pdf, the transparency failed to plot properly. I tried PrimoPDF and the transparency worked, but the paper sizes didn't include Arch D and the plot didn't look as crisp as the one produced by AutoCAD. In the end, I ended up pay $5 per print to have the DWG files processed, because I needed the transparency to plot properly. I would like to figure out what the problem was so that next time I need to send out for prints.

Sep 5, 2012I am trying to plot a drawing with 80% transparency on the xref layers, and use a pen table to assign line thinkness (printing in black and white). But, when I go to print, AutoCAD completely ignores both of these and prints the drawing all lines at the same intensity and thickness.

Jan 11, 2012I'm using AutoCAD 2011 with a Ricoh Aficio W3601 plotter. Occassionally I need to plot out pipe wraps for projects that would be longer than a 36" sheet. Our plotter has a 36" x 150' roll capacity. I have figured out how to define a custom user size paper and get it to show up correctly under the properties button in the plot dialogue box. The print preview is correct, and the plotter cuts the paper off at the correct length, however, the printed portion of the plot is always cut off at 36" or is printed the wrong direction and limited by the roll width. I have tried every combination of landscape/portrait combination without success. I am trying to plot from the model tab using a 1:1 scale.

Jan 8, 2014Trying to get blocks to plot transparent for only 1 viewport. Using viewport transparency works for all objects in applicable layer except blocks that have been created using "0" layer. I cannot use transparency by block since the blocks must show in other layouts without transparency. Also cannot re-create blocks using different layer since the source file is kept on network for all to use. Is there a way to plot blocks with the vp transparency of its current layer despite having created the block in another layer?

Apr 11, 2012With a new HP T 7100 Plotter I can not plot bigger sizes than A0 with transparencies. Installed is the HP-GL2 and the PS Plotterdriver. I can plot from AutoCAD normal plans till a sizeformat of A0 with trasnsparencies, but with oversizes there is no plot. Plans without Transparencies can be plottet and I can plot from other programs all plans even with Transparencies. As a landscape architect I want to use the transparency on bigger plans.

Oct 25, 2012I made a 24 x 36 title block with attributes and saved it as a wblock.
1) When I inserted the title block into a 24 x 36 paper space, The titleblock does not fit. and the texts are messed up as well. The text are in in their respective places. What I did to create the title block is to basically created a title block border and then created the text. So, I made a block out of the borders and then a block out of the text then I made a block out of the whole thing (text and border). After i saved it as a wblock. When saving as wblock i chose entire drawing and once i chose object.
2) When I try to test plotting with this title block i made (even though it does not fit in) it does not show up in print preview.
How do I make some of the text Bold and others not? but keep them all same style?

First, the rim to sump value will not change with sump defined by depth and trying to change the sump depth (going deeper and no rules exist). Second, change to define sump by elevation and the sump elevation changes and the grip changes to the correct elevation, but the part outline doesn't change. I've read where the part catalogue location should be updated. I did.

May 23, 2012Working in a assembly and just edited an existing note in the Engineering notebook. Clicked the "X" to close the assembly.... what? no prompt to save the file?
Just checked adding a note to a ipt and it doesn't dirty the file either, so if you only add a new engineering note, you have to save it, cause it won't prompt you before closing.
AutoCAD Architecture :: Xref Doesn't Plot From Sheetset But Does When Plotting Only One Sheet
Oct 31, 2013I have a set of drawings.
Titleblocks are drawing files with the floors xref'd in.
It's a pretty regular aggregate xref method.
I have a sheet with a roof plan.
The third floor (unique xref - attach) has vpcolours assigned to layers so that the walls show greyed out, for routing roof drains.
If I plot this sheet on it's own, the walls below show.
If I plot the whole set by shift clicking the drawings in the sheet set, and choosing publish to PDF, this drawing doesn't show. I get the roof plan without the xref'd walls below showing.
I'd like to issue one pdf file of the whole set, but this one sheet in the middle isn't showing. I don't have an adobe suite to plot the roof plan on it's own and cut it in for the wrong one because $1500.00
I'd like to be able to plot the draiwng correctly from AutoCAD.

Jan 4, 2013When I first started, I noticed that EVERY time I started Acad (Civil 3d 2012 or Arch 2012), the MRU list showed nothing but DST files. If I opened a dwg, it would get added to the top of the MRU list. But then the next time I loaded acad, there would once again be no dwg files--just dst files.
I thought that maybe the profile where the MRU list is stored was being overwritten by a backup (maybe the mgmt here wanted to ensure the profile remained "standard"). But then I noticed that when I open a dst file that was not on the MRU list, it gets added to the MRU list and STAYS THERE when I close the Acad session and is still there the next time I start Acad.
Now the difference between my issue and the other thread (at least as far as I can tell), is that I think they're saying that as dst files are opened, the dwg file(s) get pushed out of the list. But most of the dst files I'm seeing in the list are there from before I started.

Apr 8, 2012I am working with files that somebody else did, I need to bring an external reference and it dosen't show up, then I check on the ref command and seems like the external reference of that file is there, I check also on the layers and they are not off or frezze, what could be the problem?

Apr 17, 2013I am running the antique CAD 2004 and went to layouts to start setting up a page. When I drew in the view port, it does not show anything of the model space, zero, zip, nada. Tried "Scale to fit", a new view port with no luck. I opened another project file, it work perfectly, just not this one. It doesn't have any Xref's that I can see, but it does have some proxy objects.

It will open if I type out PURGE completely, but when I type in PU, stuff just shows up in the command prompt. I even went into the alias-editor and made sure PU = PURGE. I've never had this issue before, but I'm on a new system because I started a new job. At my last job, we were also using 2010, and everything was fine.

May 17, 2012Acad 2013 recent install. When using the layer menu, sometimes it will update to show item frozen, but doesn't show the snowflake in the menu. Then you can't thaw it as it thinks it is already sunny. Also intermitent problems moving items from layer to layer. Says it changed them, but when listed are still in the original layer. Just this afternoon it deleted the layer, kept the item being changed with no layer association, then gave me an error message. Luckily I had saved recently. The menu has also relocated itself to covering up the menus at the top of the screen and has lost the pictures of new layer, set to current layer etc. I will probably end up reloading software. I am also having problems with dimensions not using the settings color, size etc that are set, but rather defaulting to the autocad default (yellow) etc, which don't print well for us.

Aug 21, 2013Our Council has been updating our school system. We have the design suite and have chosen Inventor 2013, AutoCAD 2013, Inventor Fusion.
The issue is that in Inventor the EDIT FORM tool isn't on the Ribbon. It also isn't on the add in's for Inventor 2013 either.
We also downloaded the suite direct from AutoDESK.

Sep 4, 2012I created a skeleton and now i want to derive the sketches and planes to other parts. It worked for a while, but now it does not work!
The problem is when I create a new .ipt and then I would like to Derive an other part in it. I click on the file from the browser, it puts the part into the .ipt, well, sort of, it's like a visual effect, but NO Derive window appears afterwards, so I cannot edit which sketch or parameter or planes...etc.. I chose to actually derive to the .ipt.
