I am working with files that somebody else did, I need to bring an external reference and it dosen't show up, then I check on the ref command and seems like the external reference of that file is there, I check also on the layers and they are not off or frezze, what could be the problem?
View 2 RepliesI am using a pdf file as an xref however while panning/zooming and some other basic commands, the response is really slow.I have already tried using a jpg file but I loose the ability to grab the end point of a line. I am able to grab the end point of a line while using the pdf.
I have 4 GB of ram and nothing else open, so I cannot see this being the problem

When I attach an external reference, I want the insertion point to be 0,0,0 so that my drawings overlap each other. However, when I attach, the drawing is 596'-10", 345'-11 1/4" every time! Am I missing a setting or extra step?

The thing is I have dwg1 and dwg2 files and in them I use "Dynamic Block1". Whenever I update "Dynamic Block1" in one of the dwg files I have to go to "design center" and update the "Dynamic Block1" in other dwg file.
I have a drawing that does not save the xref layer setting. I can change colors and thaw different layers but after saving and closing the drawing it reverts back to the original when opened again. I am sure this is a setting but can not find which setting.

Problem is it often causes my AutoCAD to lock up for 30 seconds to 10 minutes. The problem occurs when switching from paper space to model space or when I load the drawing file.

Im drawing on autocad 2008, but im having some trouble with trying to explode an 'external reference' this external reference needs to be edited.
I opened a DWT renamed it and saved it as a DWG, then i used the INSERT/EXTERNAL REFRENCES/ATTACH DWG to bring in drawing. When i select the explode button i cant select the drawing i need to edit.
I don't get the option in External reference to attach an image. Do I need to reinstall the program?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had a DXF file with an external reference file inside, when showing in AutoCAD 2012, the external file appeared very 'dull' and blurry. But when I look at the same file in the new AutoCAD 2013, it shows very clear.. this puzzles me, and our clients are complaining about this quite often.
Is there a setting I can change in 2012 version to make it (external file) clearer? The right hand side shows the external file (table and words) much better than the left.
In AutoCad 2012 how do you make a hard coded externally referenced image into a relative reference? I tried simply removing the trailing path locations from the found at location in the external references manager although that wouldn't let me do it.

Autodesk doesn't support 2008 Architecture and the on;y file I can find is buried in a torrent file with a pirated copy of 2008 and I DO NOT wish to download that.

Is there a way to insert a BOM into a part drawing that does not reference itself? When we create parts they are cut or machined from a designated material (size, shape, etc) which has it's own part number, one that we have to manually enter into the drawing BOM with it's description. Is there a way to attach this raw or base material to a part file as a subordinate part that can be seen in parent assembly's BOM's?
If there is a way to attach a raw material to a ipt's BOM that can be seen at all levels above it we could explore the option of streamlining our BOM creation process.

I need to print this drawing and I cannot get either print to PDF or print to printer working properly.
I was asked to create a local area map of the site and i used a google map image as the map. I have a paper space layout with labels and the company title block, with a raster image reference in the model space viewport, when I go to print this drawing using plot PDF the image comes out so grainy it's useless. When I plot to printer the paper space layout comes out great but only a slice of the raster image is printed.
No indication of problems can be seen in autocad's preview mode, and this doesn't happen outside of Autocad- I can open the image and have it print to PDF clearly, and I can open the image and print to printer without problems.

The image is supposed to fill the whole viewport, but most of the viewport is blank.
I have not had any luck finding support on Auto Cad Architectures Keynoting w/ data base.
The issues I can't seem to resolve are: formatting the reference legend and saviing the format so I can re-use it in all my drawings creating a custom reference keynote?
Is their a way to know or extract the file type or file extension of an External Reference file?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a sheet that has several alignments data referenced and labels applied. Recently some of the alignments changed (slightly extended), I checked the sheet and all of the labels have auto updated. Everything looks good. A Print Preview looks good.
When create the print (to pdf), the alignments that changed and all the labels do not show up. Nothing changed with layers, styles, etc. I tried Synchronize and Refresh from Prospector. I can create another Data Ref but don't want to go thru all the labeling again.

I can't tell if this is a bug or a "feature."
I have created a custom thread.xls table so that thread callouts are in decimal format per ASME B1.1.
When I use the Hole / Thread feature note in an .idw, the thread class will not show on an external thread. If I change the format to not use Custom Thread Designation, the thread class appears. If I use the Custom Thread Designation on a threaded hole, everything works fine.
I have three drawing constructs.I have door tags and room tags. I have schedules. All work just fine. However, I need to combine all three Finish and all three Door schedules into one multi-level schedule for each, doors and finishes. In views, I schedule the external references by selecting the YES option in the properties dialog box. The problem is that the drawing contains doors and spaces that I do not want to be part of the schedule. How do I deselect the objects that I want to be in the schedule?
The other problem is I can only select one drawing. It makes no sense to have separate schedules for each floor on a small project where there are only 10-20 rooms. As a work around I can create the schedules in constructs, import all the constructs into a view, clip all the constructs and the stitch the tables together. This is cumbersome, does not update seamlessly and results in unnecessary file sizes.
When i delete files from lightroom, it says that my external HD does not support trash.

Architecture 2011 allows editing property sets from external objects through the host drawing (i.e. change a room number of a property set attached to a space xref'ed in from another construct). This obviously has to put an editing lock onto the xref to prevent data loss in case somebody else works on the xref in the meantime. This editing lock is removed when I close my host drawing. However, the lock is immediately restored when I re-open the host drawing.
How can I release the xref file lock again after editing the property sets in my host drawing?
I am an experienced user of Lightroom and get excellent results. But an anomaly is puzzling me. I capture images in DNG format and download to a PC Windows 7 using a calibrated Eizo graphics monitor. Before exporting and delivering a processed image I ensure that there is no unacceptable clipping showing on the histogram. I export 16 bit files which are only converted to 8 bits immediately prior to delivery. Recently I have adopted the procedure of importing a copy of the final delivery image back into LR4.3 for better library management. (There are often keyword changes or other refinements in the delivered image) Occasionally I notice that some pictures are noticeably brighter than the existing LR processed masters which formed the basis of the above operation. So I did some tests.
I selected an image with wide tonal range, adjusted it in Develop module to meet my 'no unacceptable clipping' rule and exported it as described above into CS4. My working colour space is Adobe RGB 1998 and Color Management is set to 'RGB Preserve Embedded Profiles'. In CS4 I only changed the mode from 16 to 8 bits and then saved the file using a modified name. That was the only processing done in CS4. Both files (8 bit and 16 bit) were then re-imported back into LR4 and the histograms compared with the original modified master file. In both cases they showed highlight clipping indicating that the image is brighter than when starting the final processing in CS4. In most cases the extra brightness is not a big problem; but in some instances it is quite unaccepable and I could not use that version without further processing in LR4. Mode change does not seem to be the culprit.
What I might be doing wrong to bring about these unwanted involuntary changes to normally processed files?

Having a D100 camera and keywords filled out in Nikon View IPTC... would importing into Lightroom show up my keywords and captions? I neglected to add that I would not be importing them from my computer HD, but from a external HD. All my past work was done on a Gateway PC. Lightroom will probably be put on a new Mac. I also have all these photos archived on CDs. Will this change things? Will my keywords and captions still show up upon import? If importing from an external HD blocks this, what can I do, what program can I add that will get my metadata across?

However, only the linework shows up in paperspace, not the text. I have seen this before and don't remember how to fix it. It is a setting somewhere but I don't remember where.
