In AutoCad 2012 how do you make a hard coded externally referenced image into a relative reference? I tried simply removing the trailing path locations from the found at location in the external references manager although that wouldn't let me do it.
View 2 RepliesI had a DXF file with an external reference file inside, when showing in AutoCAD 2012, the external file appeared very 'dull' and blurry. But when I look at the same file in the new AutoCAD 2013, it shows very clear.. this puzzles me, and our clients are complaining about this quite often.
Is there a setting I can change in 2012 version to make it (external file) clearer? The right hand side shows the external file (table and words) much better than the left.
I don't get the option in External reference to attach an image. Do I need to reinstall the program?

Is it possible to contol the visibility state of an external referenced drawing? I have an architectural plan drawing that uses a titlesheet drawing as an external reference. In my civil plan i want to use a different title sheet. Instead of having a different titlesheet drawing for the civil drawing i was wondering if i could turn my titlesheet drawing into a dynamic block. In my architectural drawing i would see visibility state #1 & in my civil drawing i would see visibility state #2.

When I attach an external reference, I want the insertion point to be 0,0,0 so that my drawings overlap each other. However, when I attach, the drawing is 596'-10", 345'-11 1/4" every time! Am I missing a setting or extra step?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a surface, to which I've added data from a ENZ file. No problems - I had a workable surface. I want to be able to work on the drawing at home as well as work. So I brought home the DWG as well as the ENZ file thinking that if both were in the same directory, it would work OK. But I get an error saying the Point file can't be found. I can't see any way to make the file reference relative, rather than absolute.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using a pdf file as an xref however while panning/zooming and some other basic commands, the response is really slow.I have already tried using a jpg file but I loose the ability to grab the end point of a line. I am able to grab the end point of a line while using the pdf.
I have 4 GB of ram and nothing else open, so I cannot see this being the problem
Is there a possibility to use "Dynamic Blocks" as an "External Reference" having the ability to use their features at the same time?
The thing is I have dwg1 and dwg2 files and in them I use "Dynamic Block1". Whenever I update "Dynamic Block1" in one of the dwg files I have to go to "design center" and update the "Dynamic Block1" in other dwg file.
I have a drawing that does not save the xref layer setting. I can change colors and thaw different layers but after saving and closing the drawing it reverts back to the original when opened again. I am sure this is a setting but can not find which setting.

Problem is it often causes my AutoCAD to lock up for 30 seconds to 10 minutes. The problem occurs when switching from paper space to model space or when I load the drawing file.

Im drawing on autocad 2008, but im having some trouble with trying to explode an 'external reference' this external reference needs to be edited.
I opened a DWT renamed it and saved it as a DWG, then i used the INSERT/EXTERNAL REFRENCES/ATTACH DWG to bring in drawing. When i select the explode button i cant select the drawing i need to edit.
How do I make referenced components from parts and assemblies? (I searched the web and it said that that you can change it in the iProperties by selecting the Reference tick box under the occurance tab - but no such thing exists in Inventor 2011!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've lined up an image myself in Civil 3D over a topographical survey but now I want to export the image as a geo-referenced image so it can be brought into Mapinfo and Tuflow in the right place, coordinate-wise.
My question is - is it possible, and how do you do it!
I am drawing an as-built plan and utilizing a scanned image of the plan as a go by. The image is referenced into the drawing. Sometime I want to turn the image off by selecting it and clicking "show image" icon on the show image > options tab. After turning the image off, if I forget to unselect the image before continuing, I risk deleting the image and creating an unreferenced image.
I thought i could solve the problem by locking the layer the image in on, but then I can not turn the image on and off!
I am creating a new set of drawings but using information from an existing set. On the existing set there is a reference of an image of our company logo in the format. The path for the image is to the my pictures folder for the previous drafts person. Is there a way to redefine this path or do i have to reinsert the image. The format is not a block.

I was able to do this one but it seems I can"t find the proper way to do this..First drawing a line a certain distance..ortho on,click the first point anywhere,move curser to the left and click again. that gives me a line at 180 degrees at what ever length..Line command again starting at the second point of the first line..after clicking that point,I type in @2.38<150 that gives me a line2.38 long at 150 degrees..now how do i make a third line relative to the second line so that the angle is 75 degrees and a certain length..the picture shows what I am trying to draw..using the polar cordinates you get an angle based off the UCS( which is set at world) when you try to draw the third line ..that makes the angle between line 2 an 3 not the angle that I want..To make the drawing,I rotated the ucs -30 degrees..But there has to be a better way than that..
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm automating a custom watermark action for a series of photos (1000's) the orignals vary in size so thats my first hurdle to accomodate, the final water mark will comprise of a white stroke offset say -5 mm(but again ideally relative to each images size) and then placing a PDF logo at 20% opacity and placed centrally.
The problem I have is that I want the logo to be at the same scale throughout the sets of images, ideally the stroke too.So my question is can this be achieved in PS, scaling relative to document because all I can seem to do is specify a size or percentage.
A work around I considered is basing the final image size on a set width or height and then using a standard size for the logo and stroke just thought I'd try the hard way first.
Say I have an image that is 100x100 pixels. And I want to take one of the layers and resize it to 50% of the image size, so that it is 50 pixels. How can I accomplish that?
The reason I ask, is that have multiple images all with different size. But I have a signature (ie. watermark) that is always the same size. I want to be able to place this signature, and then resize it to XX% of the image it was placed on. That way, it should always have the same proportions.
I am creating a mask in Photo Paint and feathering the edges. Everything works fine up until I "Finish Editing" and the object is returned to Corel Draw. The mask has shifted up from the image and the wrong area is masked. If I save the image from Photo Paint and re-open it it's fine...just not when it's sent back to Corel Draw.

For example if I am doing address labels and I have fields for City and State:
Their positions are absolute, and the state ends up overwriting the city for long city text, as does the comma.
What I want is for the comma to follow the last letter of the city, and then state to follow that.
And yes, I realize that I can combine all three into one field, but I am asking this as a general usage of the feature. One doesn't always have control over the source.
How is it possible to evaluate the total relative area of the part of a photo image selected by its colour in Photoshop (in % to the whole image)??

What is the best way to work with a small area at a time? I cannot seem to imageclip the connected raster image.
