AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Multi Sheet Plotting To Smaller Paper Size
Oct 8, 2013This is an issue for which no one in my office has any solution. We create all of our plan sets on E1 size paper. However, when we plot them for redlines we print to C-size to save paper. I know you can "publish selected layouts" to plot numerous tabs at a time. However, I am unable to figure out how to make them plot to a smaller size paper than what the page is set up for. Is there a way to plot all of the tabs at a smaller scale without plotting each tab individually?
We just recently upgraded to AutoCad 2014.

Apr 30, 2013We've got an HP Designjet 455C attached to an SBS 2003 computer.
From Autocad, I can print when I set the page size to A4 - as expect, it prints a nice A4 sized plot on the A1 width roll. But if I try to print full size plots, nothing happens; the document spools, but the printer does nothing.
It must be something to do with paper size or orientation, but I can't find what. I wondered if there was anything well known I should try (I'm not that familiar with Autocad - yet).
Part of the problem was inconsistency.. sometimes test documents would print, and then they wouldn't! I also got one which seemed to print at the right size, but was only printing part of the file content. These are existing Autocad files, with a printer that has been working in the past.

Feb 22, 2012Among about a dozen ACAD users in my office, one is missing the "Arch D (landscape)" paper size that accompanies the PC3 file we generally use. I have checked that the roll size and other settings in the machine in question and all of that looks good. I don't want to edit this PC3 as it works for everyone else and don't want to create a new PC3 for this one user.

Nov 8, 2013Normally I plot in paper space and everything works well. when I plot in paper space all the lines ae much, much lighter and almost invisible, whereas if I plot the same drawing in model space the plot comes out perfectly, though not in scale. I must have pushed a wrong button somewhere but wnat button is beyond me.

The thing I'm having trouble with, is getting it to act like it has roll paper. I can set custom paper sizes in the printer drives all day (such as 42" x 42") but this is only half way accurate, and can waste a lot of paper.
Is there a particular way to set the printer to use the roll paper?

Jan 8, 2014Trying to get blocks to plot transparent for only 1 viewport. Using viewport transparency works for all objects in applicable layer except blocks that have been created using "0" layer. I cannot use transparency by block since the blocks must show in other layouts without transparency. Also cannot re-create blocks using different layer since the source file is kept on network for all to use. Is there a way to plot blocks with the vp transparency of its current layer despite having created the block in another layer?

The lineweight is a half of the original. I think i have tried everything.

Jul 7, 2011I have tried numerous times to make my paper size and actual plot size the same. My paper size is 24 x 36 but for some reason it rotates the paper and the output is 36 x 36, every time! When I look at it on the preview, it looks correct but then the paper comes out with a foot of paper at the top of the drawing. I've created new page sizes, etc.

I used the WBLOCK command to make the title block into its own saved block, but when I insert it into the paperspace of the drawing that I want to use the title block in the drawing of the title block is larger than the white rectangle which represents the paper. I can insert viewports and print the drawing fine, but the drawing of my title block being larger than the white area of the paperspace bugs me. How do I make it bigger?

This problem is solved in 2013 LT after installing SP2. (see release notes: Drawings cannot be plotted with the oversized paper size and transparency on.)
Anyway in 2011LT the problem is still there. Also after installing update 1 & 2.
AutoCad :: Plot To TIFF Paper Size
Feb 28, 2012I have drawn plans and am trying to send them out for printing on 24" x 18" paper. I used the add a plotter wizard to get the Tiff version 6 plotter added to my plotters, and the tiff it puts out is only 4" x 3". I have tried scaling the picture, changing the paper size, looking through all the options in the layout tabs and plotting tabs. I can't get anything to work. My only options in for paper size in the plot menu are pixel sizes, I can't select paper size. I am using autocad 2005.

Apr 11, 2012With a new HP T 7100 Plotter I can not plot bigger sizes than A0 with transparencies. Installed is the HP-GL2 and the PS Plotterdriver. I can plot from AutoCAD normal plans till a sizeformat of A0 with trasnsparencies, but with oversizes there is no plot. Plans without Transparencies can be plottet and I can plot from other programs all plans even with Transparencies. As a landscape architect I want to use the transparency on bigger plans.

Mar 13, 2013I am using AutoCAD 2006. I have a set of road plans that is 25 pages long. This means that I have 1 model space tab and 25 paperspace layouts. Each paperspace layout contains 1 viewport that shows a specific piece of my model space drawing. I need to be able to print these 25 layouts to multiple printers at multiple sizes. Specifically, I want to be able to print 11x17 sheets on printer #1, 11x17 sheets on printer #2, and 22x36 sheets on printer #2. I know how to create named page setups so that I can just pick which one I want to use to print.
Problem #1 - When I change from printer #1 to printer #2, keeping the same size (11x17) sheet, the paper moves slightly relative to my viewport that is on the page. Therefore, I have to move 25 viewports (1 on each page) every time I want to print my plans.
Problem #2 - When I change the size of page I want to print, the viewport does not size to the page. Therefore, I have to resize the 25 viewports and re-zoom their contents every time I change the size of paper I'm printing on.
Problem #3 - When I want to change the printer or size of sheet that I am using, I have to go to every layout tab and select the individual plot setup that I want to use. Is there a way to apply 1 named page setup to all layouts at once?
Ideally, there would be some way to link the viewport to dynamically change with changes in the paper location and size, but I'm not sure that's possible.
Again, I am using AutoCAD 2006.

Oct 19, 2011I'm having a problem making paper size filtering 'stick'.
For years I've configured PC3 and their associated PMP files for each of our printers and plotters. As a part of the configuration, I filter out all the paper sizes we don't use. Once the PC3 and PMP files are configured, they're copied to all the local PC's. I've never had a problem with this, until now.
On the PC where the PC3 file is configured, the filtering is correct. On any other PC, various paper sizes are added. For instance, I'll filter out all paper sizes on printer "X" except for 8.5x11 and 11x17. On a similar PC, the paper sizes "16k 197x273mm" and "8k 273x394mm" are added.
If I point the PC's to a location on our network where the PC3 and PMP files are stored, I get the same results.
We have two OS's here - Win7 Pro and XP Pro. All OS's are kept up-to-date. All the Win7 PC's use the same version of the HP Universal Print Driver. All the XP PC's use the same version of the printer specific drivers.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Plotting Empty Sheet When Full Size Plot
Nov 1, 2012Ghost in the machine or something:
- HP T110044 plotter.
- All drawings in this project (oops did a saveas and now I screwed).
- All Windows 7-64bit
- AutoCAD 2013
- drawings have Revit AutoCAD dumps X-referenced to them
- Title block is x-refed and created same way as above
- drawing scale is Unitles as well as insert units
- plot preview shows a drawing at 100%
- Drawings will plot fine to 50% scale and 100% scale to PDF but NOT100% to the HP plotter.
- when ploting to 100% size, plotter progress bar in AutoCAD takes awhile, hangs, then dissapears and a new bar appears and jumps across and spits out a blank sheet.
-I have the "plot paperspace last" checkbox checked.
- Could my plotter driver be corrupted?
- Tried on several machines and same thing happend.

May 18, 2012I've created a drawing in model space, added text in paper space. When I go to plot the drawing the text is rotated 90 degrees instead of staying oriented the way I added it. There must be some setting that I am missing somewhere!

Aug 20, 2013I have layouts set to print to a printer in the office, sometimes with different sized sheets. Everything worked perfect until we upgraded from Civil 3d 2013 to 2014. Where I'm gettin a problem now is publishing to PDF. It will cut off the left and right margins of the 11x17 sheets. I've tried everything and looked everywhere but can't keep it from doing that.
Is there anywhere to set the publish to PDF settings? I've played with the DWG to PDF.pc3 settings and no change.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Plot Transparency And PDFs
Jun 8, 2011I am having a problem getting PDFs to plot when I have plot transparency on.
I use the dwg to pdf plot function and with plot transparency on... my hatches work perfectly but my PDFs appears very much screened. (As a 50% or more screen would look) If I turn off the plot transparency, the pdf works perfectly but of course my hatch shades obliterate any line work beneath them.
I was able to convert the PDF to a .tiff, with a graphics program... increase the resolution to 600dpi and use imageattach to bring that in. But it is an extra step for each insert and increased dpi = increased file size.
Other than increasing the resolution on the PDF, any way around this "screening" issue on PDFs when plotting with transparency on?

But how can I leave default paper size not "A4"? For example if there is "A3" it should stay "A3". Because if I go through each drawing I don't know what is the current paper size I just need to change the plot device becuse default has been crashed for example. But if I write "A4" each drawing will have "A4".
AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Plotting Grey Instead Of Black LT 2010?
Aug 11, 2011how to stop AutoCAD Lt from ploting in grey... it doesnt seem to make sense to me why this is happening. We use to have Autocad 2007 and a lot of the files that we still work from were created in that. Everytime files are now plotted to pdf parts of the drawing appear a very light grey as oppose to black which is how they appear on the screen. In the plot style table in the page setup they are also black - and I have tried changing it from monochrome to custom pen assignments, nothing seems to change it. The files are usually in stb as oppose to ctb. whole page prints black or the colours that I have actually clicked on?

Sep 28, 2010Using an HP 1050c Plus with the latest HP drivers for Windows XP on AutoCAD MEP 2009. If I use the standard printer margins it all works fine, except that the margins are way too big and no border we have will print without cutting off at least .25" all around. If I go to properties and change the margins to .1" all around, my 42x30 sheets will print out with 43" of paper. If I make them .25", I will get 42.5" of paper. I just started at this company and have never had this problem before with an HP 1050 plotter. I have tried different combinations of the Extend margins, Inked area and autorotate checkboxes but haven't been able to figure it out yet.

Feb 15, 2012When trying to change the plotter name to 'Adobe PDF' I cannot get the paper size and orientation to change.
I change to 'Adobe PDF', then change the properties to ARCH D drawing size and landscape, click OK, save changes to printer config and when it returns to Plot-Model window nothing is changed.We just switched over from Windows XP to Windows7.
