AutoCAD LT :: Drawings Cannot Be Plotted With Oversized Paper Size And Transparency On
Dec 4, 2013
We are useing Autocad LT 2011 and 2013.
since a few weeks we have trouble plotting drawings with a oversized paper size and transparency on.
This problem is solved in 2013 LT after installing SP2. (see release notes: Drawings cannot be plotted with the oversized paper size and transparency on.)
Anyway in 2011LT the problem is still there. Also after installing update 1 & 2.

I do not have a plotter. The largest paper I can print on is 11x17.I am needing to create a drawing which can be plotted on A1 size paper.
How can I get this A1 size to show up in Paper Space so I can use viewports to set up the layout?

How do you get an xref to appear faded when plotted onto paper?
I tried putting the xref's on their own layer and adjusted the transparency level.

I have have small gray shaded boxes showing up on drawings plotted in Civil 3D, they are never anywhere I can see in the drawing and they never show up in the print preview. I have tried using multiple printers and still get the same thing. I think it may have something to do with viewports as they only show up inside a viewport window when plotting from paperspace and don't show up when I plot from modelspace.

I made this oversized graphic at 30 x 20.463" at 300 resolution in Photoshop 7.0.
The printer made it to the final output size at 69.504 x 47.408" (this is proportional to the size above). at a resolution of 125.
is 125 safe? Tell me I'm not wrong, but I think 125-150 resolution is okay, right? Especially for that size!
But months after I designed that oversized graphic..I also did another one, but the size was: 51 x 42.306 at 600 resolution & the output size was 87.5625 x 106" at 300 resolution.

For presentations I usually print my AutoCAD files to pdf and then import those into InDesign - worked well enough, but I had not had the transparency function in AutoCAD turned on, so the drawings lacked that feature. Now I'm saving with the transparency setting on in AutoCAD. My test prints of the straight pdf files do work, but they take a l-o-n-g time to print. Am worried that when I import them into InDesign it will slow down that process as well (I recently had one drawing that inexplicably hung up at the plotter all together and wonder now if transparency from an imported file was the problem). I don't need to keep the transparency live through InDesign. What's the best way to set up that import process? Do things need to be flattened, and if so, at what point?
I should amend this by noting that I mean flattening in the graphic design flatten-the-transparency sense, not in the 3d-to-2d CAD sense. All the drawings are 2D......

I have tried numerous times to make my paper size and actual plot size the same. My paper size is 24 x 36 but for some reason it rotates the paper and the output is 36 x 36, every time! When I look at it on the preview, it looks correct but then the paper comes out with a foot of paper at the top of the drawing. I've created new page sizes, etc.

“Scale lineweight” issue. When plotting in the office to A2 Printer I usually check the “Scale lineweight” checkbox. In some drawing “Scalelineweight ” does mess with the lines scales showed in the preview and on the paper. why?

I am making an independent film. And I've decided to use Photoshop to make the Poster...but theres one problem. We'll...3 actually. Hopefully someone could help me out and I would greatly appreciate it. Even if you can only answer one, I will still greatly appreciate it.
1. What would be the coordinates if you want to make a Poster?
2. How about a full paper. What size does the Photoshop picture got to be to fit a piece of paper perfectly?
3. How about DVD covers? Either just the front or the front and the back.

My model is up in the top right of the planes. I cannot figure out why my origin planes are oversized like this. I have went through the browser and checked all the parts to see if something is out there, nothing. I have set auto-resize on origin planes and yet these are large.

I have the next problem with PDF printer:
I have configured a special size and assigned to a PC3 file
(1350.00 x 1050.00 mm.)
This is the default printer for some other layouts in some other DWG's as well.
If I print the layout directly from the drawing editor, it creates a PDF with the paper size I assigned, but if I print it using the sheetset, it creates a document with another paper size based on I don't know what.
The plot and publish details window shows the next message when printed from the sheetset
Sheet: BA_00-P-050-0100___ - Plotted
Page setup:
Device name: DWG To PDF.pc3 - plotted to file
Plot file path: ...DesktoppublishBA_00-P-050-0100___.pdf
Paper size: ISO full bleed B0 (1414.00 x 1000.00 MM)
I cannot find the mistake.

I have too many paper sizes in PageSetup. This makes choosing the proper page size too lengthy and time consuming.
I only use two paper sizes namely A4 and A3 so I don't need to have English paper size like 11x14 in, Hagaki, Index Card and 30 other pagesetup.
How can I delete or get rid of unnecessary paper sizes?

I've just set up a PS plotter as per this link: URL....
Hatches in AutoCAD are being displayed really poorly (see attachment)... Basically they've been simplified to polygons instead of complex regions.
And secondly, my plot is cropped to paper size. The work we're doing is significantly larger then typical paper sizes, I realize I could add a new extremely large paper size, but is there a way to ignore the paper size?

All of a sudden, things in my inventor sketches are approximately double normal size - the UCS symbol, dimensions, constraint symbols. The UCS icon stays oversize regardless of the environment.
I went into Application Options, Sketch tab, and changed the Constraint and DOF symbol scale but it has no effect in the sketch environment. It's not confined to a single part or assembly and I have not, to my knowledge, changed any Windows or other Inventor setting.
I feel like I've stumbled into the Readers Digest Large Print edition of Inventor. How to control the size of these things?

Is there an error in DWG to PDF? When I make a custom paper size A4 with size 210x297 and 0 margins, the pdf comes out wrong, see attached pdf.
I'm plotting extends, center the plot and fit to paper in modelspace. Preview displays correct. This was not an issue in ADT 2007.

When working with other drawings I've got into the habit of dropping in my layout using the design centre rather than copying the whole drawing into my template setup. Most of the time this works fine but every now and then my layout will be massively oversized with borders, tables and veiwports all over the place.
My viewport is about 20 times the size of the paper! The paper size is fine and insertion units are set to 0 and I still can't find a solution. The attached image shows roughly the problem I'm getting. I'm using 2010 LT by the way.

A colleague of mine is having the following problem: He has a dwg file (AutoCAD 2010), with all layouts set to a custom sheet of 8.5" x 13" (215.9 mm x 330.2 mm). When he makes the publish to PDF (that is AutoCAD's default PDF option), he gets all the sheets in a ginormous size: 900 mm x 1,600 mm (35.4" x 63"). See image attached.Picture1.jpg
He keeps asking me the favor to publish it, which I do without problem. I have to say that I am using AutoCAD 2012, but before I posted, I tried using yet another PC runing 2010 and there was also no problem at all.
He is able to publish regular size documents without problem. It appears to be just that one file, but only on his PC.
