“Scale lineweight” issue. When plotting in the office to A2 Printer I usually check the “Scale lineweight” checkbox. In some drawing “Scalelineweight ” does mess with the lines scales showed in the preview and on the paper. why?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a requirement sheet from the city for plans for a little strip mall that I'm drawing a renovation for one unit. Had to reproduce the entire site however for the city planner. No problem, doing that, but here's where it gets kinky. They want the plans submitted on 11 x 17, but scaled at 1"=10'. The site is 656' ±, so at that scale, ain't no way it's gonna fit on an 11 x 17 sheet, right? If one inch = ten feet, on a 17" page, the biggest anything could possibly be is 170 feet, right?

I am trying to make a template for a simply drawing of a property at say 1:100 with a location plan of the area at say 1:1250.
When I draw say a dashed line in the model space it sometimes looks broken exactly how I would expect it to look. Yet when I then set the drawing up in a viewport within the paper space it looks like a continuous line. It also plots as a continuous line.
The only way I have found of working around this is to change the linetype scale of the line in question (usually to around 0.012) this then usually gets the line to display dashed as expected on the paper space. It is very trial and error though with different lines requiring different scales?
I wondered if there is a setting so that they display in the model space exactly as they would display in the paper space or vice versa?
I am trying to convert scales of drawings and photocopies.I'd like to transfer a 2200mm line which is on an A3 sheet at 1:100 to an A4 sheet which is a photocopy of a drawing that was originally A3 at 1:100.
What scale rule should I use to draw the representation of the original 2200mm line on the A4 photocopy?
I am using Civil3D 2011 and I am working on 1:1 model space scale. When I go to paperspace and open a scaled viewport, the texts and linetype scales change. What can i o to make them look the same as in model space?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm new to drawing and I need getting my text/dimensions to be legible on an 11x17 sheet. I had no problems when my company used Arch D (24x36) but in an effort to "going green" we converted to the B size paper (11x17).
Any useful chart for plotting in different scales. Maybe a standard size chart. I usually print in 3/8", 1/2", 6", and full size paper space viewports.
I am trying to understand how Linetype scale works, and have been researching on LTSCALE, MSLTSCLAE and PSLTSCLAE. I believe I have a fair understanding of each of these settings. Still, I can't figure out how the scaling works while I was trying to create custom line type. To illustrate, I created a new linetype called XCENTER, which is exactly the same line type as CENTER except its name, in a new LIN file.

After loading the new linetype into my drawing, I was surprised to see that CENTER and XCenter show up in different scales in the same drawing (see png).
My work file is WORK.DWG, I have purged everything except the two polylines, one with the line type of CENTER, the other xCENTER. Not that my global scale is 1:100, LTSCLAE=, MSLTSCALE=1, the object scales are both set to 1.0.
I copied the two lines to clipboard and pasted on a brand new drawing TEST.DWG, and the two lines show up in the same scale.
What in my original drawing WORK.DWG is causing this problem?
Is there anyway of plotting a cad drawing from the model view screen so that certain linescales show? At the moment when I plot it will show hatched items without the outlines.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy hard drive died and I purchased a new hard drive. I run Vista Business and have both PS cs3 and PSE. Both programs show my grayscales as shades of purple. It also prints as shades of purple. But I have other photo editing software and it shows grays correctly and prints correctly. Does anyone have any suggestions? It use to work okay before the new hard drive was installed. None of my other software is acting any differently.

The command function is basically to allow me type the value of the scale and based on that, adjust the properties of the scale. (Name appearing in scale list - Paper Milimeters - Drawing Meters)
Example:

set 1:50 to default
I have autocad 2013 student version installed on a MacBook Pro with OSX mountain lion, worked properly, but now I can not print anything in paper, pdf, or preview. I just try re-installing the software, creating new layout, select the printer from "Edit page setup" menu, without any results.

We are useing Autocad LT 2011 and 2013.
since a few weeks we have trouble plotting drawings with a oversized paper size and transparency on.
This problem is solved in 2013 LT after installing SP2. (see release notes: Drawings cannot be plotted with the oversized paper size and transparency on.)
Anyway in 2011LT the problem is still there. Also after installing update 1 & 2.
I have a layout with a border that is alligned very well in the layout view (see attachement 1) but the whole thing somehow moves to the left when I preview the plot (attachement 2). I thought the dashed lines were supposed to indicate my printer's plot area. Is there a way to fix this anomanly? I have tried to play with page setup options, application options, but nothing works.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor unknown reason the hatch pattern preview does not work on some drawings - I have tried turning HPQUICKPREVIEW off and on but this does not make any difference. Also the hatch palette images boxes are blank at times (I have to slect the update tool image to get them back). This only happens on some drawings (others work fine).
View 9 Replies View RelatedHave a dwg with two layouts sheets that print to pdf in paper space - one layout works just fine the other NOT.
Both include one view port and a few small details as pdf underlays(@ 150 kb each) in the PAPER space layout.
The problem sheet - ran a very slow plot preview but it did complete a full view of the layout, then when selected to do the plot it never completes the pdf.
I tried a pdf plot of the same area in MODEL space and it previews just fine and plots to a pdf just fine.
I'm having trouble with paper space labels. When i zoom in and out to adjust my viewport, the scale looks fine. Then when i go to plot preview all text are enlarged. Then when I cancel I go to paperspace and labels remain large.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have AutoCAD Map 3D 2013. Sometimes the fillet preview doesn't work. The fillet preview is supposed to work like this:
After setting the radius of the fillet, click on one line.
Move the cursor to other line to be filleted and wait for the preview of the fillet to appear. If the preview of the fillet looks good, click on other line to create the fillet. If the preview of the fillet doesn't look good, change the radius of the fillet and try again.
I think that there is a variable that needs to be set.
my cad drawings dont show any text, just boxes, when i click on the boxes the text is still there, is there a setting lost?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using autocad 2011..I have a problem with printing to scale.I have completed a drawing in model space with a 1:1 ratio, all my units are in mm.I have created 3 different view ports in paper space to show different aspects of my drawing, each view port has a different scale.
The whole drawing is to be printed on A2 size paper.
My main viewport (which contains the primary aspect of my drawing) is to be drawn to scale. When I click on this view port Autocad states that has a scale of 0.008583 – what does this mean? See picture 1..When I print the document the scale is set to 1 inches = 25.4.
All I want to do is print my drawing so that it fits onto an A2 page, but the main view port is to be printed to a scale. I want to scale to be sensible some like 1 in 200 or 1 in 50 etc so that other people can use a ruler to work out the real life dimension.
I've been using AutoCAD for a while now, started with 2011 and now I'm using 2012. However, the one issue I've never been able to resolve is how to get my linetypes to show in model space properly, and then how to get them to show the same way in paperspace.
I know it has something to do with, at least, LTSCALE and PSLTSCALE. I've never know the 'formula' to make those work - it takes a lot of trial and error before they work together. Is there a trick to just making all of this work, without changing scales and regenerating countless times?
The current drawing I'm working with; I'm drawing in 1:1, with my viewports set to 1:100. My LTSCALE is 500, and my PSLTSCALE is set to 0. That seems to make things 'work' but, I can't figure out how to always just make these values work.
I should add I've checked the forums for a 'magic' answer and, there doesn't seem to be one. Is this the way it really is? I thought AutoCAD would be a little more intuitive than just 'trial and error until it works'.
2 of 3 viewports in paper space do not show up in print preview, nor will they print. The viewports are all on the same layer, defpoint layer. Even if I create 3 new viewports and erase the old ones, still can only print preview one viewport and only one viewport will print.

Would either of these examples be the correct way to show a dimension that spans 2 drawing files? Is there a different way to show a dimension that is to span 2 drawings?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Autocad Architecture 2013. My .dwg has about 15 pdf's in it (from a consultant that does hand drawings that I scan in, and use the image manager to insert into my drawing). The PDF's range from under 1mb, to 10mb. The PDFs are in model space and within my various drawing sheets, I show them in my drawing sheets via multiple viewports. I noticed that when I go to plot a sheet that has pdfs shown in viewports, and click on PLOT PREVIEW, the PDF's don't show up - everything else shows up, linework, jpegs, etc, but not the PDF's! I fiddled with the viewports and noticed that if some part of the PDF's image frame was visible in the Viewport, the PDF would appear in Print Preview. But if the viewport sat directly over the PDF's image frame, the PDF would not show up in the Plot Preview!!!
Could it be I've exceeded the maximum number of Viewports in my entire .dwg? (I have about 16 sheets), Or, could it be some mysterious autocad system variable that I'm running up against.
I have Inventor 2014 installed on my computer. My O/S is Windows 7 Ultimate. The problem I am experiencing is that when I open the tutorial files and click to open a file such as VBelts.iam or bearing.iam, the preview of the item will show in the tutorial files dialog box. But, when I click to open it in the graphics area, nothing appears. At the bottom of the graphic screen it will say that the particular file such as VBelts.iam has been selected. I have tried every solution I can think of including making sure in the browser that visibility is on. The problem didn't occur in the previous tutorials. When I clicked open in the dialog box it worked as it should. The problem first occured when I tried to open SkeletonBase.ipt and has continued in the next few tutorials.
