Photoshop :: My Gray Scales Show Up In Shades Of...
May 14, 2009
My hard drive died and I purchased a new hard drive. I run Vista Business and have both PS cs3 and PSE. Both programs show my grayscales as shades of purple. It also prints as shades of purple. But I have other photo editing software and it shows grays correctly and prints correctly. Does anyone have any suggestions? It use to work okay before the new hard drive was installed. None of my other software is acting any differently.
While trying to change colors on my color palette, I noticed that all of my colors are showing up as various shades of gray. No matter how many times I choose a different color, it shows up as gray. Sure that works great if I just want to work in black, white and all of the grays in between, but I need a little color in my latest project.
How come sometimes my foreground/background colors turn to shades of gray when I open a new canvas and I can't change them to color? Is this a glitch or a setting?
Also, sometimes after selecting an area with the lasso and going to the move tool I can't pick up the piece. I get a message that says something like the area is empty.
Lastly, how do I create a stroke (i.e. outline) around a shape?
I'm using paint bucket for fill colors and though I see and choose colors from the spectrum all I am getting is shades of gray. What happened to the colors for the foreground and background, why does it only come out shades of gray even though in picker it shows I have picked a color?
When I select a color for text and shapes, the software defaults to shades of gray, although black and white are available. I use the eyedropper to select red on the pallette, for example, and the red box is framed. But the color sample on both the menu bar and the tool bar sets to gray. Is there a swicth somewhere that inhibits red, green, blue, etc.?
I even reinstalled the program, thinking I had a glitch--no change. The color selection had always worked in the past.
For some reason my CS3 does not show perfect greys. Even when I convert to grey scale the picture looks a little redish. It also prints like that. Whats going on? Because this has not happened until recently.
My company is switching from ctb files to stb files. With the ctb file, we make concrete hatch with two layers. A top layer with the concrete hatch pattern and a background layer with a solid hatch patern. The ctb file concrete plots the concete hatch black and the solid background hatch light gray. I am using civil 3d 2013 and the hatch allows a seperate background color mask. I am trying to make all my concrete layers (Top of Curb, Curb Flowline, etc.) a certain color scheme, i.e. shades of green. I would like my on screen concrete hatch patern to be a green color with a gray background, but plot the concrete hatch black with a gray background. I can not figure out how to do this without making two layers. Is there a way to use one layer and utilize the background color mask to show on screen green and gray, but plot black and gray?
I am trying to understand how Linetype scale works, and have been researching on LTSCALE, MSLTSCLAE and PSLTSCLAE. I believe I have a fair understanding of each of these settings. Still, I can't figure out how the scaling works while I was trying to create custom line type. To illustrate, I created a new linetype called XCENTER, which is exactly the same line type as CENTER except its name, in a new LIN file.
After loading the new linetype into my drawing, I was surprised to see that CENTER and XCenter show up in different scales in the same drawing (see png).
My work file is WORK.DWG, I have purged everything except the two polylines, one with the line type of CENTER, the other xCENTER. Not that my global scale is 1:100, LTSCLAE=, MSLTSCALE=1, the object scales are both set to 1.0.
I copied the two lines to clipboard and pasted on a brand new drawing TEST.DWG, and the two lines show up in the same scale.
What in my original drawing WORK.DWG is causing this problem?
“Scale lineweight” issue. When plotting in the office to A2 Printer I usually check the “Scale lineweight” checkbox. In some drawing “Scalelineweight ” does mess with the lines scales showed in the preview and on the paper. why?
Is there anyway of plotting a cad drawing from the model view screen so that certain linescales show? At the moment when I plot it will show hatched items without the outlines.
I just want to have the necessary scales, so don’t want to add to the template.
The command function is basically to allow me type the value of the scale and based on that, adjust the properties of the scale. (Name appearing in scale list - Paper Milimeters - Drawing Meters)
The recolor tool does not recolor shades into shades but only shades into a fixed color. Eg if I have a gradient blue to green and recolor the green into red, then it won't be a gradient anymore. Also, using eg. antialiasing for lines you get lighter shades of the chosen color, again maing it problematic to change the line into another color. What to do?
Example: CTRL+click on grey channel theoreticly (by my theory) make selection from white depending on its value. So cuting out must leave transparent greyscale image. But it don't (okey, it do, but changes black value):
The same selection inverted and filled with 100%K gives correct result: Is my "theory" about CTRL+click selection wrong? Becouse for my point of view, both ways should give same result.
How do I change the default toolbar background from dark gray to light gray in illustrator CS6? In the older versions, the toolbar backgrounds were light gray. It easier to read on light gray backgrounds. THe same question applies to Photoshop CS6. InDesign CS6 has light gray backgrounds.
Why does a black through white gradient created in an RGB document have a B channel that differs from the R and G channels?
In 8-bit mode, only some of the "grays" have a mismatching B value and there seems to be more of them when the gradient is created by Gradient Tool than when it is a Gradient Fill layer. The difference seems to be 1 in the cases that I've seen.
In 16-bit mode, I see the B differ from R and G by 7 at black, gradually reducing to 0 at white.
Before someone says, "Why make a fuss about small discrepancies?", I'm asking why there is any difference at all.
when i try to change color, i cn't change to anything but grey, it was working fine earlier today, but i changed some thigs transparent and this could of caused a bit of a problem?/ can anyone help??
This sounds really ridiculous or it's just me but I've been trying to figure out how to create a .75x8" image with one solid color and the color is fading from left to right. For example, i'm trying to fade red. From lightest of reds to the darkest.
I am confused about when trying to make a photorealistic composite. Say of a man face with real goat horns and reals cars compositited on his face.
I know I use layer masks but to blend the images into his face do I use the eraser tool on the mask or go to the mask layer where its red and use different shades of gray?
I am trying color a simple black and white picture that my friend drew, and they're faces of people. I want to color it with just some minor shades so that the pictures will not too flat in the end.
how they made the attached image. I like the way the two shades of green curve down from the top right corners like that. I have created a rounded curve and have messed with the gradient but unfortunatly have had no luck.
In both Photoshop and Illustrator the gray colors look brown. However, in Fireworks and other programs the gray colors look gray. Any color management settings to fix this?
We are looking at re-painting our house. I have scanned in some of the colors we are thinking about. I have taken some pics of our house and want to introduce the colors we have choosen. There is shade that also has to be dealt with and hence the same color in shade will have to be accepted as well. What is the best method/tool to use for this task ?
My PhotoShop is turning certain shades of green to black, when I click on the image and move it I can see it perfectly while it move...But, after that goes to black as seen above.
I want to eliminate all shades of yellow from a picture. It would be ok if they completely dissapeared or if I would be able to turn all shades of yellow into white or black. Is this possible with Photoshop? If not, do you know if it would be possible with other software?
Example:
There is a sun on a picture- I want the sun to be turned black. I am not talking about using the brush like in "Paint", but I want this to be done automatically.
is it possible to open a photo of a patient with shades palette like on picture 1: and make a color analysis to see which part of a tooth has which color (usually tooth neck is darker, edge is lighter, sides are darker).
I am following a tut and I am stuck at #26 [URL]........
As you may see below the tuts Layers Panel is not all that useful b/c the layers aren't named.
When I copy the "Orange one" (which I have assumed the author means the cones basic shape) and Flip it Vertically the shapes that have been masked (the shapes that make the white stripes) become visible as well as the highlights and shades. Also, the highlights and shades do not flip with the object/cone. So, that can't be the way to accomplish the desired effect (which is to create a reflection on the base of the cone).
I decided to make a New Layer on top of all the other layers and then to use the Pen tool to redraw the cones shape flip it and move it to just above the Base Layer shape but rather than having just the right side of this shape visible the entire shape comes through which looks awful ~ as I assume from the picture that this reflection is suppose to reach over to the white highlight strip that goes from on top of the cone, down the cone and onto the base.
I am trying to fill certain areas using the magic wand and even though the opacity is at 100% it is still only shading it with the chosen color. Is there something that I need to set somewhere in it?
I've just created a map with various county boundaries. I now need to fill in the counties with various shades of gray, with no two neighboring counties sharing the same shade. I've been going about it in a sort of trial and error fashion, but I can't ever seem to get it right. Is there a way that Photoshop could possibly fill it in for me? Sort of an auto-swatch application thing?
I am newbie to 3ds max, I was modelling one building but I am seeing some black shades on the mesh and I want to get rid of it. You can see the black shades in the picture attached below, as well as I am uploading my 3ds max file.
how can I get a cleaner mesh, right now its totally messed up. I used optimize modifier but it does not do much.
