Photoshop Elements :: Why Paint Bucket Colors Only Shades Of Gray

Jul 1, 2013

I'm using paint bucket for fill colors and though I see and choose colors from the spectrum all I am getting is shades of gray.  What happened to the colors for the foreground and background, why does it only come out shades of gray even though in picker it shows I have picked a color?

Photoshop :: Foreground / Background Colors Turn To Shades Of Gray?

Sep 16, 2013

How come sometimes my foreground/background colors turn to shades of gray when I open a new canvas and I can't change them to color? Is this a glitch or a setting?

Also, sometimes after selecting an area with the lasso and going to the move tool I can't pick up the piece. I get a message that says something like the area is empty.

Lastly, how do I create a stroke (i.e. outline) around a shape?

Photoshop :: CS5 Paint Bucket Colors Do Not Match Selected Color Picker Colors

Jun 28, 2012

I recently installed CS5 on my laptop after first removing it from my previous machine. All licences were validated so no problems there. Now when using paint bucket in Photoshop, the colors that I select in the color picker are not the colors that result when I use the paint bucket.

If I create a new black canvas then the colors selected in color picker work with paint bucket. But if I attempt to recolor the background in an existing image that I import into Photoshop, I get the mismatch with colors when I use paint bucket. My method for selecting colors is the same in each case, I select 'set foreground color' and set the color using html values entry at the bottom of the panel.

Photoshop Elements :: Color Selection For Text And Shapes - Defaults To Shades Of Gray

Nov 28, 2012

When I select a color for text and shapes, the software defaults to shades of gray, although black and white are available.  I use the eyedropper to select red on the pallette, for example, and the red box is framed.  But the color sample on both the menu bar and the tool bar sets to gray.  Is there a swicth somewhere that inhibits red, green, blue, etc.?

I even reinstalled the program, thinking I had a glitch--no change.  The color selection had always worked in the past.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 :: Photo PAINT Shades Image Colors In Windows 8

When I do screenshots and copy them into Photo PAINT, PP seems to shade the colors. Why is this happening?

How can I switch off this behavior?

Here's an example of what's happening when I do a screenshot of a screenshot of a screenshot of a screenshot of a Photo PAINT desktop, always overlaying the same original empty image window upon the current screenshot step:

Photoshop :: Only Shades Of Gray Showing Up

Mar 8, 2007

While trying to change colors on my color palette, I noticed that all of my colors are showing up as various shades of gray. No matter how many times I choose a different color, it shows up as gray. Sure that works great if I just want to work in black, white and all of the grays in between, but I need a little color in my latest project.

Photoshop :: My Gray Scales Show Up In Shades Of...

May 14, 2009

My hard drive died and I purchased a new hard drive.  I run Vista Business and have both PS cs3 and PSE.  Both programs show my grayscales as shades of purple.  It also prints as shades of purple.  But I have other photo editing software and it shows grays correctly and prints correctly. Does anyone have any suggestions?  It use to work okay before the new hard drive was installed.  None of my other software is acting any differently.

Photoshop Elements :: Cursor Change In Paint Bucket

Oct 1, 2012

I’m getting a strange cursor when I use the Paint Bucket tool. Instead of the bucket with the pointy bit to show where you’re aiming, I get three tiny paint buckets in a horizontal line, looking a bit like a fragmented ruler, so it is impossible to see where the point of the paint  bucket is. I have used CAPS LOCK to get the crosshairs but would refer the normal setting to be available too.

I have shut down the PC and restarted with PS9 as the only app open but I still get this funny cursor. Some of the cursors from other tools are also affected, esp. when I left-click.Have I changed a setting by accident?

Paint.NET :: Recolor All Shades Of A Color Into Equivalent Shades Of Another Color?

May 21, 2013

The recolor tool does not recolor shades into shades but only shades into a fixed color. Eg if I have a gradient blue to green and recolor the green into red, then it won't be a gradient anymore. Also, using eg. antialiasing for lines you get lighter shades of the chosen color, again maing it problematic to change the line into another color. What to do?

Photoshop :: Colors Are Printing Muted And Gray

Aug 20, 2013

I have been using Photoshop for years, and as far as color management, everything has always been pretty true to what i see on my monitor. Recently however, pictures look good in Photoshop, but when i upload them to the internet, or print them the colors are muted and have a gray cast to them. I have tried using different color proof settings based on the labs I use to print, but it always ends up the same.

I have used both sRGB and AdobeRGB on my camera, both have the same result. I don't know what changed, if I changed a setting inadvertently.

Photoshop :: How To Use Paint Bucket

Jan 17, 2013

I made an outline of an image with the line tool and I read online that it only creates vectors or something. The solutions online told me to rasterize or flatten my layers. So I rasterized them but the paint bucket fills the whole screen with no regards to the lines I made.

Bottom Line: I made an outline using Line Tool, rasterized all my layers, used the paint bucket but the paint bucket covers the entire screen. I'm 100% sure there aren't any "holes" between the line segments btw.

Photoshop :: Paint Bucket Fills

Mar 29, 2013

I am working on a project where I am doing hand drawn rotoscope (think waking life).  For larger areas I am drawing the outline and then filling the shape with the paint bucket.  The problem is that the fill doesn't go all the way to the edge of the outline. The anti-aliasing on the brush seems to be creating it, but I don't want to turn anti-aliasing off.  It will be a huge time saver for me to figure this out.

Photoshop :: CS6 - Paint Bucket Tool

Dec 16, 2012

I am used to work with Photoshop. Unfortunately there is a bug in the paint bucket tool of Photoshop CS6. I made all updates up to 13.0.1 (x64).

Description: The paint bucket tool is very tricky to use now. If you want to fill a certain empty area of a picture with a simple color, it often does not do that. My clicks are totally correct, also the position ... but it does not take it. Sometimes I have to zoom in some 100% until my clicks are successful and the desired areas are filled with color.

Photoshop :: Paint Bucket Into Layers

I would like to know how to fill an object on a layer using paintbucket and then isolate the fill onto its own layer. I swear I've done this before, but may have been dreaming. I am using a base drawing and would like to overlay fills and have the ability to control what is seen by turning on and off layers of paintbucket without having to duplicate that base drawing. Did that make sense? I am trying to avoid drawing an excessive amount of shapes.

Photoshop :: Paint Bucket Tool Not Working

Mar 28, 2009

Ok, this is about as basic as you can get. What would prevent the paint bucket tool from working? Here are the steps I am taking to try to create a web page: Clicked on:

File->New Set 800 x 600, RGB Color, 72 Pix, and Contents is White.

Selected my foreground color and set it to E0EFFF

Clicked Paint bucket Tool

Clicked in the middle of the page.

Nothing happens.

Also tried using the Rectangular Marquee Tool to select an area within the page, and tried using the pain bucket to fill that in, but that didn't work either.

Any ideas how to find the Paint Bucket tool and better yet how do I make it permanent part of the Toolbox again.
