Photoshop :: Do I Use Eraser Or Different Shades Of Grays?

Feb 23, 2006

I am confused about when trying to make a photorealistic composite. Say of a man face with real goat horns and reals cars compositited on his face.

I know I use layer masks but to blend the images into his face do I use the eraser tool on the mask or go to the mask layer where its red and use different shades of gray?

Paint.NET :: Recolor All Shades Of A Color Into Equivalent Shades Of Another Color?

May 21, 2013

The recolor tool does not recolor shades into shades but only shades into a fixed color. Eg if I have a gradient blue to green and recolor the green into red, then it won't be a gradient anymore. Also, using eg. antialiasing for lines you get lighter shades of the chosen color, again maing it problematic to change the line into another color. What to do?

GIMP :: 2.6.12 - Wacom Eraser Works Like Brush Not Eraser?

Jan 25, 2014

I'm using a Wacom Intuos2 tablet with GIMP 2.6.12, and it works fine except as the subject says, the eraser works like a brush. In Photoshop, I don't recall exactly what it does, but I believe switching to the eraser (meaning flipping the pen over to the "eraser" side" switches from the foreground color to the background color, so that it effectively works like an eraser.

How can I do that, or something similar, in GIMP? I've searched everywhere and most of the posts have to do with getting the tablet recognized (check) and implementing pressure (check).

Photoshop :: White And Some Grays Seem Blue

Jul 10, 2009

Photoshop CS3

My whites and light grays seem blue. For example, if I create a gradient from white to black, the lighter grays, will seem bluish. (See link)

It's not my monitor or color settings because when I save the images, they export in the correct shade of gray. (See link)

Also, the canvas itself doesn't come up blue. It remains white, like it should. The blues occur in shades of gray such as e6e6e6,

Photoshop Elements :: Adding Color To Clipart - Can Only Choose Blacks / Grays Or White

Oct 25, 2013

I have a clipart that a friend drew for me that is black and white. I scanned it, added to it and saved it as a .psd. I used a reduced size clipart to add some color. I than decided to add color to the full sized clipart using the bucket tool. The color picker will not allow me to choose any color other than blacks, grays, or white. It worked fine with the first clipart but nothing after. I tried in Elements 6 and just purchased Elements 12 hoping that would be the ticket.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Add To Map With Query / Button Grays Out

May 13, 2010

I've set up my machine months ago to connect to SDE 9.2 from Civil 3D 2009 and it's worked all along. Recently, however, it stopped working. I can connect and view all the layers the same as before, but when I select a checkbox beside a layer to query and hit either "Add to map" or "Add to map with query", the button greys out and nothing happens. This has worked on this machine for months (even with 2008), but now it stopped. As far as I can tell, nothing has changed with SDE either. Is there a log anywhere I can view for errors?

GIMP :: Changing Transparency To Imitate Grays

Oct 24, 2013

I have a Grayscale image where pixels are either white, transparent, or nearly white. My issue is, I need to convert this image such that:

1. All colors are converted to solid white with with an alpha channel (##FFFFFF)
2. The image looks unchanged

For example I want to convert a pixel that is FCFCFC to FFFFFF, but change the alpha channel so that they look the same. I'm assuming a black background.

GIMP :: How To Adjust Grays In Black And White Image

Aug 3, 2012

I'm still working on old family photos (it's a long-term project). This one is from my parents' wedding album, and it's an original black-and-white photo from 1952:

Maybe it's me, but I just don't like all those different gray tones, and I would love to get my mother's gown whiter (which it still is, BTW). I have tried a few things to even things out:

- Brightness/Contrast
- Threshold, Levels, Curves (I have to admit, I don't know what I'm doing with these; it's sort of hit-or-miss)
- Auto adjustments
- Fuzzy select to try to get the darker pieces more like the lighter ones, but the adjustments I just listed aren't doing what I want and are hard to see anyway; I thought the Bucket tool might work but I don't know how to use the gray area I want as a fill color.

Photoshop :: Eliminate All Shades Of Yellow Or Other Color

Oct 1, 2006

I want to eliminate all shades of yellow from a picture. It would be ok if they completely dissapeared or if I would be able to turn all shades of yellow into white or black. Is this possible with Photoshop? If not, do you know if it would be possible with other software?

Example:

There is a sun on a picture- I want the sun to be turned black. I am not talking about using the brush like in "Paint", but I want this to be done automatically.

Photoshop :: Masked Shapes / Highlights / Shades Becomes Visible

Oct 28, 2012

I am following a tut and I am stuck at #26  [URL]........

As you may see below the tuts Layers Panel is not all that useful b/c the layers aren't named.

When I copy the "Orange one" (which I have assumed the author means the cones basic shape) and Flip it Vertically the shapes that have been masked (the shapes that make the white stripes) become visible as well as the highlights and shades. Also, the highlights and shades do not flip with the object/cone. So, that can't be the way to accomplish the desired effect (which is to create a reflection on the base of the cone).

I decided to make a New Layer on top of all the other layers and then to use the Pen tool to redraw the cones shape flip it and move it to just above the Base Layer shape but rather than having just the right side of this shape visible the entire shape comes through which looks awful ~ as I assume from the picture that this reflection is suppose to reach over to the white highlight strip that goes from on top of the cone, down the cone and onto the base.

Photoshop :: Foreground / Background Colors Turn To Shades Of Gray?

Sep 16, 2013

How come sometimes my foreground/background colors turn to shades of gray when I open a new canvas and I can't change them to color? Is this a glitch or a setting?

Also, sometimes after selecting an area with the lasso and going to the move tool I can't pick up the piece. I get a message that says something like the area is empty.

Lastly, how do I create a stroke (i.e. outline) around a shape?

Photoshop Elements :: Color Selection For Text And Shapes - Defaults To Shades Of Gray

Nov 28, 2012

When I select a color for text and shapes, the software defaults to shades of gray, although black and white are available.  I use the eyedropper to select red on the pallette, for example, and the red box is framed.  But the color sample on both the menu bar and the tool bar sets to gray.  Is there a swicth somewhere that inhibits red, green, blue, etc.?

I even reinstalled the program, thinking I had a glitch--no change.  The color selection had always worked in the past.
