Working in a assembly and just edited an existing note in the Engineering notebook. Clicked the "X" to close the assembly.... what? no prompt to save the file?
Just checked adding a note to a ipt and it doesn't dirty the file either, so if you only add a new engineering note, you have to save it, cause it won't prompt you before closing.
In my part, there was already an existing Engineering note.
I wanted to add another note. I added my new note, but it does not show up in the browser. I can right click on the note note > Display note and both notes are shown in the engineering notebook. When I exit out of the notebook and go back to Inventor, still not there. Here is a short video of what I am seeing.

Now I if I add another note, then all of them will show up in the browser. This is not the first time that I have seen this, but just thought I would bring this up.
This part was just made with a copy design from Vault. What is weird, is that if I go to the part that this was copied from and add the note, it shows up correctly then. Its like something is getting hosed in the copy design process.
Using 2013 sp1.1...After I change the hole size in the part, the callout in my hole note does not update. (crazy, I know).
If I pull a new hole note after the change, it has the correct dimension. But, if I change the hole size again, this new hole note does not update.I put the part on a new idw and it updates correctly, so somehow the idw is hosed.
when I use GoExcel.CellValue (or other similar Excel link) snippet in iLoggic to write on a Excel sheet, I get a save prompt for the respective Excel file.
i.e.
GoExcel.CellValue ("WB1.xls", "Sheet1", "A1") = 1234
(Run Rule)
(I get a message box saying)
"Do you want to save the changes you made to "WB1.xls?"
Yes / No / Cancel
How can i bypass this message, I would prefer it is can be done through the iLogic Rule?
I've noticed an anomoly when working with XREF's and changing units. With the company that I work, we receive client drawings, XREF them in, and put our drawings on top of them. For this particular project, we have about 150 drawings that we are working with. The biggest problem is the drawings we receive are in various units, and we draw in millimeters. So when we go to XATTACH, we have to make sure the XREF drawing's units are set to mm, although most of them are not. So we navigate to the XREF drawing, open it, open the UNITS window, change it to millimeters, accept, save, and close the drawing. However, when we go back into the actual drawing to XATTACH again, the unit change in the XREF has not taken effect. Reopening the drawing and launching UNITS will show that, indeed, the unit change was not saved. Doing it a second time will take effect, but why do we have to do this dance in the first place?
This problem occurs about 50% of the time. I can't seem to find a pattern with it. If I make a change to the XREF drawing itself as well as changing the units (like moving the pan or zoom), but to no avail.

I am using Windows 7 Pro (64-Bit) with Autodesk Inv 2011 (64-Bit).
I normally use this feature: "Realistic Appearance" and changing the material. However, when I accept (Clicked OK), the application crashed on me!

my problem is very simple:
1.- I started a new drawing, changed the project unit settings (manage>project units> etc...)
2.- I saved the new drawing as a template
3.- I started a new drawing from the previous template I created in step 2, but doesn't keep the units as I set up.
When I save as DXF, I have to manually go into options on the save tab and click "default DXF configuration," otherwise it exports the file as a ZIP folder. I can't figure out how to save the configuration so I dont have to manually do that everytime, im sure it something simple, as it usually is..

At the beginning I could not see drawings in correct position after putting them from assembly window to drawing one( please see the screenshot). I solved it in the drawing mode( I set them straight so I can do engineering drawings), but I am wondering if there is a possibility to set any object in assembly mode horizontally vertically so in the drawing mode it will not show incorrectly after adding them. Also I made a drawing file for Auto Cad mechanical and parts are also set tilted.

I hear certain program such " Lutz Roeder's Reflector " can reverse engineer the DLL assemblies and get the actual code from it. This would cause concern when we deploy the DLL to various users.
So, is it true that DLL from VB.NET (or C# and C++) is so vulnerable from reverse engineering? if yes, what is any practice to add security to it?

Currectly I can set the default location in the Publish Option by Naming and Mane are Greyed out and set to N/A.
I am able to set the Auto Publish but that only does a single sheet.
I have created Engineering Notes in Part and same visible in all top level assemblies (see attached image).
I searched on web for option and it is available underAplication Option>Note Tab, but I could not able to locate option in Inventor.

I want to create a dynamic block with multiple visibility states. Each of these states will have it's own attribute for users to enter in information. Is there a way to have the attribute automatically prompt for entering information upon changing the visibility state? That is without hashing too much into the API and code?
Then maybe even go a step further and clear out existing attribute information if the visibility is changed?
In the engineering notebook, I have sectioned the assembly so that I can show what I need to note. I would like to freeze the view. When I freeze the view, the section goes away and I cant see what I need to.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA coworker brought this to my attention and I was also immediately able to reproduce this. We use content center C channels and other common beams a lot. After inserting one into an assembly if you right click and select change size and edit the length it typically doesn't update to the correct length.
Example:
Insert a 10" Ansi MC/C channel any size
right click and select change size
add +.0625 to the existing length and hit apply
measure it at 10.06252 in
repeat change size and type in 10.0625
measure it at 10.0625
repeat change size and type in 10 + .0625
and measure at 10.06252 in
It seems to mess up more when you do math but it also screws up entering a simple number
10.000325 usually ends up as 10.000315 in for me.
Editing the part directly from it's parameter dialog doesn't yield anything like this.
I have a document for a book with 1400 superior note numbers in it. At the end of the document is a list with the 1400 connecting note texts. Unfortunately they are NOT connected! How can I connect the note-numbers with their connecting note text?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen using save copy as to make an identical part with a different number, the file name in the top and the browser doesn't update to the new filenumber. only in the bottom file tabs is the name correct. if I go to file> save as I can also see the new filename. This is a hassle when doing this to multiple files in an assembly, as it makes it hard to keep track of which parts have been given a new name. It seems the filename input in the browser is only written once, and that is when the first file was saved for the first time.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am creating a drawing that has some 40+ notes on it. Maybe half of these notes need to have a square, squircle, or some shape around them so I can later use that same shape enclosed number to point to a feature on the drawing that it is referencing. In the past when I had fewer notes I would just use the user symbols and losely place the squircle number in line with the other text and then use that same squircle number to point to the desired feature. The problem it is hard to align everything properly and if I move the text I then need to move the squircles.
In Pro/E I remember being able to type "@[1@]" and it would create a box around 1 in the text. Is there anything similar in Inventor?
I would like to preface this post by stating, for the purposes of this message, that I have absolutely no understanding of the workings of AutoCAD. I have looked at many forum discussions concerning my issue and I am simply unable to understand the terminology and/or concepts being described.
I recently purchased a new computer for my office. Accordingly, I needed to install AutoCAD on this new machine. All of the machines in my office are running AutoCAD 2011. However, after addressing some licensing issues with AutoDesk, I received a license and installer for AutoCAD 2012. Everything was installed correctly (as far as I understand) and the program itself is working fine. The problem I am running into involves the text style for the files I open:
For files saved on AutoCAD 2011, the text style used is Arial. Simple; no custom fonts. However, when I open that same file in AutoCAD 2012, the text style for the entire file has changed to Franklin Gothic Book. (Note that all files are accessible from all computers in the office through a network drive)
That is my only understanding of the situation. As I mentioned earlier I have very little understanding of the workings of AutoCAD. I have had this problem for almost a week now and I am no closer to understand this issue, much less solving it.
profile structure doesn't update when changed. First, the rim to sump value will not change with sump defined by depth and trying to change the sump depth (going deeper and no rules exist). Second, change to define sump by elevation and the sump elevation changes and the grip changes to the correct elevation, but the part outline doesn't change. I've read where the part catalogue location should be updated. I did.

Save in AutoCAD 2013 Drawing format?' this has annoyed me for years!
I have set it as default DXF 2014 for a good reason I don’t want a prompt asking me if I want to then save it as 2013 or I would have set it like that on my default setting, gets on your nerves when you are doing 100's of files.

using ACAD LT 2012. If he opens a DWG file from a Sharepoint site, makes some changes to the drawing and then SAVES the file, his changes are NOT saved and there is no indication that they were not saved. Needless to say this is critical.

Is there a way to create a prompt(length, width, Diameter etc.) so when you open the .ipt it pops up? Anything a little more organized than the parameters box? I've done an excel sheet in the past for certain things, but didn't want to carry and excel sheet over for this option.
