using ACAD LT 2012. If he opens a DWG file from a Sharepoint site, makes some changes to the drawing and then SAVES the file, his changes are NOT saved and there is no indication that they were not saved. Needless to say this is critical.
View 6 RepliesI have the student version of AutoCAD 2012 on an HP laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium OS. I originally installed AutoCAD in June of 2012. It worked fine for 9 or 10 months but now whenever I select File/Open, File/Save, or File/Save As, AutoCAD stops responding and the spinning blue donut appears. AutoCAD never comes back and I have to close it from Task Manager. I uninstalled AutoCAD and reinstalled it, and the process went smoothly. However I still have exactly the same problem with the File operations. I apply Windows updates, but other than that have not made any changes to the software on the laptop. AutoCAD works fine for everything except the File operations. I am able to save with CTL/S and am able to open AutoCAD files from File Manager.

When I attempt to save a drawing I have completed, I cannot save!
Can't save, save as or any other variation of save.
This is my issue every time I click save.
I posted a while ago as my AutoCAD 2012 keeps crashing when I try to save as. Well it doesn't crash as such it just freezes until I press ESC. I've also noticed it does this when I select LAYDEL.

1) When setting file type to AutoCAD dwg or dxf, Inventor has to "think" for about 30 - 45 seconds (i.e. the hourglass cursor shows up).
2) I press 'Options and Inventor "thinks" for about 30-45 seconds, but nothing happens, no DXF export wizard pops up, so I can't change any export settings..
3) If I press save anyway, I get an error message: "problems encountered while saving the document" I have tried repairing, reinstalling, and uninstalling inventor but each option fails.
I have spent most of today working on a project for work, and here I am at the end of the day going back to glance over everything when I realize that about 75% of the work I did on one of the files didn't save. I suspected I was having this problem before, so I had been meticulously saving after every edit and making sure to wait for the hourglass to go away before continuing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to windows 7 and AutoCAD 2012, when I hit save as the cursor or highlighted field is in the directory area not the file name. When I'm detailing I use save as a lot and this little quirk causes me about three extra steps, and kills my rhythm. Our XP machines defaulted to the file name area so you could simply type in a new name hit enter, and go on down the road.

If I upgrade will they still be able to open my files or can I back save to a previous version? I know I can save it as different file type, like .iges or .step, then use feature recognition. But I need them to have full editability to sketches and features.

AutoCAD 2011 still has this funciton so have had to go back to using the earlier version.
I am using Autocad LT 2012 on Windows XP at my office computer. I Save a file in an earlier version e.g. 2004 or 2007 and email to home computer, Autocad LT 2008 on Windows Vista. The file will not open. Message is that the file has been created by a later version. THis has not been my experience with earlier versions.

I´ve been using eTransmit command in previous versions, now that I´ve switched to v2012 there´s no longer support to save all dwg xrefs as dwg references in the eTransmit popup window. My dwg xrefs are instead attached as blocks.
I am using civil 3d 2012 when i click open and save as not show a window its show command line choose file <c:folder location like this.

If i try to add a new toolbar to a custom toolbar, or to add buttons to an existing one, the changes are not saved when i close the customization window.
Autocad 2012 was working fine until a week ago when it started taking a long time to open drawings--even search for drawings on our network. It also takes at least 30 seconds to save files, where it used to take 5 seconds at most.
I found the AutoCad 2012 and AutoCad LT 2012 SP1 Ribbon Hotfix, which sounded like my problem, but it is for Product Version F.107.0.0 and I have Product Version F.51.0.0.
I've just switched to autocad 2012, and when I'm opening dwg files it takes up to 2-3 minutes to open and save them. Autocad 2007 opens and saves the same files in mere seconds without problems.

View 4 Replies View RelatedBefore I save a drawing in AutoCAD Architecture, I hit ZOOM EXTENTS so the thumbnail preview is accurate and so it comes up the same way the next time it's opened. Unfortunately, after doing a ZOOM EXTENTS, SAVE & CLOSE, upon re-opening the drawing, the view shifts downward, which usually covers up the title of the drawing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed an anomoly when working with XREF's and changing units. With the company that I work, we receive client drawings, XREF them in, and put our drawings on top of them. For this particular project, we have about 150 drawings that we are working with. The biggest problem is the drawings we receive are in various units, and we draw in millimeters. So when we go to XATTACH, we have to make sure the XREF drawing's units are set to mm, although most of them are not. So we navigate to the XREF drawing, open it, open the UNITS window, change it to millimeters, accept, save, and close the drawing. However, when we go back into the actual drawing to XATTACH again, the unit change in the XREF has not taken effect. Reopening the drawing and launching UNITS will show that, indeed, the unit change was not saved. Doing it a second time will take effect, but why do we have to do this dance in the first place?
This problem occurs about 50% of the time. I can't seem to find a pattern with it. If I make a change to the XREF drawing itself as well as changing the units (like moving the pan or zoom), but to no avail.

why I'd get this error when doing an Export to AutoCAD 2010/2007/2004...? It seems to be innocuous, and irrelevant, but it's disturbing none-the-less. I haven't been able to identify any reason why it appears, and all drawings seem to work normally, with no problems. AUDITs turn up no errors. So I've just been ignoring this message, but it's distracting. And it doesn't always appear... although I haven't been able yet to identify what causes it to appear in some drawings, and not others. I think it only ever happens when there's an XREF, but not sure... (Maybe when an XREF is in an older version of C3D/LDD/AutoCAD...?)

Autodesk has agreed that this code does not work on Inventor 2012 and that the development is working on it. This code is part of the Snippets built in Inventor iLogic Rule Browser.
Since we upgraded to Inventor 2012 SP1 on W7 x64 most machines cannot open or save out step or iges files. The translator shows as 'On demand' and when i save copy as the 'options' button is inactive. We just get the standard error 'Problems encountered while saving the document'.
I see lots of old posts but nothing relating specifically to stp files.

I am facing problem while using Save / Save As / Save for web options in my Photoshop. On clicking Save / Save As commands, my photoshop gets closed abruptly and I am losing all data. If I choose Save for Web option, the file Save dialog box appears and when I click on the 'Save' button, the application gets closed abruptly.
It was working fine yesterday. My version is bundled in the Technical Communicator suite 3.5 and I faced some problems with Adobe Acrobat, for which my IT team took support from Adobe and got it resolved just two days ago. (Case ID - 184809966)
When using save copy as to make an identical part with a different number, the file name in the top and the browser doesn't update to the new filenumber. only in the bottom file tabs is the name correct. if I go to file> save as I can also see the new filename. This is a hassle when doing this to multiple files in an assembly, as it makes it hard to keep track of which parts have been given a new name. It seems the filename input in the browser is only written once, and that is when the first file was saved for the first time.

I have a VBA macro that is using at some point a full path in order to get data from an Excel file. I am changing the data from the original file to the file that is localized in the full address. Now I want to use a Browse button and generate the Save As Window to capture the data directly from source file.
Is there a piece of code that open the Save As window that I need and return the full path so I can use it in my original code? I am sending a word document with a picture that shows the window that I want to call
Working in a assembly and just edited an existing note in the Engineering notebook. Clicked the "X" to close the assembly.... what? no prompt to save the file?
Just checked adding a note to a ipt and it doesn't dirty the file either, so if you only add a new engineering note, you have to save it, cause it won't prompt you before closing.
