Using 2013 sp1.1...After I change the hole size in the part, the callout in my hole note does not update. (crazy, I know).
If I pull a new hole note after the change, it has the correct dimension. But, if I change the hole size again, this new hole note does not update.I put the part on a new idw and it updates correctly, so somehow the idw is hosed.

i use standard thread in most cases so i just want the thread to be shown in the holenote tool on drawings (like M8 not M8x1,25)
I create a hole feature in part and use Hole and Thread function in drawing view. All info displayed correctly, but if the model changes - note does not! the only way to get the new thread/hole designation is by using the Hole and Thread function again.
see print screen attached - I kept changing the model and using Hole and Thread tool couple of times. They all point to the same hole but look at the results..
Reboot does not work...

Aside from manually adding RH or LH to a hole note leader, any way of getting the HOLE Direction (left hand or right hand) into the leader note?

Is it possible to get a Limit/Fit tolerance included in a Hole Note call out, such as H7 etc?
Currently, when I am dimensioning Counter Bore holes, I have to use a general dimension for CBore dia incuding the Limit/Fit tolerance and manually add the hole dia (or visa versa). This means I have to manually update any changes to hole dia.
The "tap drill" option in hole note in idw drawing is gray out. so I was playing around with it and fix the problem luckily.
I go to hole feature model and change thread class from 2B to 3B. then, the "tap drill" option is turn on in idw drawing.
is this correct way to do it? i have few drawing to fix it. is there a faster way?

I am using 2011 version of inventor.
In drafting while creating note of hole there is no breaking point for arrow there is only straight arrow line( pls find attached file of DIM 01). I am not getting any setting for the same.
I want notation having breaking point. ( Ref attachment Dim -2)
I've attached a sample part & drawing of a hollow cylinder with 6 equally spaced radial holes drilled around it.
If you change the depth of the hole you will get a different quantity of holes in the drawing hole note.
I get a hole note quantity of 6 holes which is correct if I set the hole depth to 1". Change the hole depth to 2" and the hole note quantity shown changes to 5. Change the hole depth to 3" and the hole note quantity changes to 4.
I often draw bushings with radial holes like this and have to take care to not let this behavior create a wrong drawing.
A coworker brought this to my attention and I was also immediately able to reproduce this. We use content center C channels and other common beams a lot. After inserting one into an assembly if you right click and select change size and edit the length it typically doesn't update to the correct length.
Example:
Insert a 10" Ansi MC/C channel any size
right click and select change size
add +.0625 to the existing length and hit apply
measure it at 10.06252 in
repeat change size and type in 10.0625
measure it at 10.0625
repeat change size and type in 10 + .0625
and measure at 10.06252 in
It seems to mess up more when you do math but it also screws up entering a simple number
10.000325 usually ends up as 10.000315 in for me.
Editing the part directly from it's parameter dialog doesn't yield anything like this.
I would like to use the hole command to place a hole in a part. When I place the hole it won't allow me to use one of the origin planes to locate the hole from. Can I only locate holes off edges?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWorking in a assembly and just edited an existing note in the Engineering notebook. Clicked the "X" to close the assembly.... what? no prompt to save the file?
Just checked adding a note to a ipt and it doesn't dirty the file either, so if you only add a new engineering note, you have to save it, cause it won't prompt you before closing.
In my part, there was already an existing Engineering note.
I wanted to add another note. I added my new note, but it does not show up in the browser. I can right click on the note note > Display note and both notes are shown in the engineering notebook. When I exit out of the notebook and go back to Inventor, still not there. Here is a short video of what I am seeing.

Now I if I add another note, then all of them will show up in the browser. This is not the first time that I have seen this, but just thought I would bring this up.
This part was just made with a copy design from Vault. What is weird, is that if I go to the part that this was copied from and add the note, it shows up correctly then. Its like something is getting hosed in the copy design process.
I have found an problem with change text on drawing note trough API.
Situation:
Create leader note in empty drawing
Change text on this note with following

Then edit text stnadrda dialog, result is that color of text is changed from bylayer to overwited color.Strange is that trough api is color still set as bylayer.

I have a frame member and a plate bolted together using the bolt connection feature. I moved the frame member slightly and while the bolt and nut moved the hole in the plate did not. Do I have to redo the connection when I adjust the position of parts to get the hole to stay in line with the bolt?

How can I change thread note from M12x1.75 to M12?
For our drawing standard, we don’t put the standard thread pitch into the thread note, and we have to manual to over write the thread note. But when the thread size changes and the note never get updated. Is there any other way to get the note to link to the thread size?

Part created in assembly does not update to part file.
What I have is a round part with a few features. I drew it in Inventor until I got stuck with the last feature, which happens to be a hole, on the OD of the part that is at an angle (don't care what angle so long as it doesn't intersect with the hole next to it).
I have screen shot? both the mechanical 2D version and my 'so far' Inventor version, how I can go about modeling this feature?
Btw, the hole this has to connect to is the one highlighted green in the bottom pic or the only one dimensioned in the top pic.
In the hole command i am trying to place a clearance hole for 10-32. When i click on teh clearcne hole icon it says loading therad data please wait and then nothing happens.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need to create a hole table for a part. I would like the origin to be at the center of the part. Problem is there is not a round hole at that location. Attached is a similar part. The one that I am doing is much larger and has many more holes... this is just an example.
How can I pick this as the origin of my hole table?
I am just starting with inventor and love the capabilities, which makes me think this is possible. I am creating a cross dowel nut (also called a dowel nut) that looks like a barrel with a threaded hole on the side. This nut is intended to be inserted into wood and connect with a screw. Is it possible to create this cross dowel that also contains the hole surrounding it so when I insert the part into an assembly (a sheet of wood), the hole is created as well?

When i move the original circle the hole doesn't move with it, and when i try to edit the hole's sketch there are no dimensions. So, i cannot move the hole.
The Hole and thread notes command does nothing in a drawing.
I point to a thread hole, the mouse cursor changes to the right simbol but no note is generated.
I'm trying to create a hole in a sheet-metal part so that a pipe can be welded in it, see attached picture. What's the best method to do this? Because the flat-pattern of this hole isn't an ellipse-shape (more like an egg), it seems it's very difficult to do.

Is there a way to default to a standard hole size when starting a new part? ie. If you mostly place 10mm dia holes can this size be configured to be default in lieu of 3mm on the hole dialogue box.

The hole table does not list all the holes in my part as I am only permitted to to select holes on one face of the part in the selected view. I have tried selecting all holes on the Isometric view however I cannt do this either.

I am trying to patch up a bunch of small holes in a derived assembly. I've tried going to the options tab that comes up when deriving the part/assembly and plugging in values for the range of hole sizes to be patched, but I get no results when clicking ok. I have scaled down the assembly to 1/10 the original size. I set the range of holes to be patched from 0 to 0.25". The diameter of the holes in the assembly are only 0.017" after scaling down.

I am trying to link a hole feature in a part in an assembly with the number of a particular feature in another part within the assembly. I have a base plate part with a coutersunk hole feature that I want to pattern by linking it to the number of bosses in another part within the same assembly.
View 6 Replies View RelatedTrying to get the tolerance on a hole to be what I want. I changed the tolerance on the hole, but my idw did not change. When I went back and looked at the tolerance on the hole, it was back to the original value. No matter what I do, it will not change to what I want it to be in the part. Here is a short video.
The dimension I am changing is .9688 and it keeps jumping back to .9686 when I go back into the hole tolerance.
Tried other values too and they would not take either...
