In an assembly i project a circle. I use the new center point with the hole wizard and save the assembly and the parts.
When i move the original circle the hole doesn't move with it, and when i try to edit the hole's sketch there are no dimensions. So, i cannot move the hole.
I have had this problem intermittently for a few weeks since going to Inventor 2013 SP1.1. I have a part within an assembly and that part has holes created in it before assembling it with other parts. Now when I try and create a hole table in a drawing of the assembly I cannot select hole edges and the hole table is blank when trying to create it automatically from view selection. I originally thought it may be an alignment issue but I have since aligned everything correctly and it still persists. I can create the hole table if I import in just the part into the drawing but it will not allow me to create the table on the whole assembly.
I can also create the hole table if I use "centred pattern" and create cross hairs on all of the holes however it does not give me correct annotations for the holes as shown in attachment and I can manually change the annotations but seriously this should not be required. As shown in the screen shot it reads as A1 down to K1 instead of A1 to A10. .
I used "project geometry" in an assembly to locate and place a hole from one part to another. How do I save the new hole back to the original solid?

I point to a thread hole, the mouse cursor changes to the right simbol but no note is generated.
Using 2013 sp1.1...After I change the hole size in the part, the callout in my hole note does not update. (crazy, I know).
If I pull a new hole note after the change, it has the correct dimension. But, if I change the hole size again, this new hole note does not update.I put the part on a new idw and it updates correctly, so somehow the idw is hosed.
I found a weird thing with the command 'Project Cut Edges'. I'll explain what I did. I made a new part and added a derived part. This derived part consists of 2 beams (see top left picture in attachment) (these beams are NOT Content Center parts, but I drew the beams myself, so it would be the same if I drew just rectangles as beams). The beams are at a specified distance of each other (see top right picture in attachment). I added a sketch on the YZ Plane and clicked on 'Project Cut Edges' (see bottom left picture in attachment). I added a rectangle and extruded the rectangle. But if I click on the 'Project Cut Edges' item in the browser under Sketch (or I open the Sketch), not all the lines are there anymore. And if I make the distance between the beams smaller, the lines get shorter too (and vice versa).

I first Isolated the "Handle" I am creating in my assembly. I am creating a sketch on XY Plane. Then slice graphics. So I can Project Cut Edges on to my model. It is greyed out so it is not available. If I open the part file on its own the command is available to use, but not in my assembly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a template with a set of Object defaults for an Inch drawing and a set for a Metric drawing. I've just noticed that within my metric set, if I insert a hole table with tapped holes, the font on the tapped holes doesn't match the other hole types. I'm searched around, but all the settings for the hole table style reference the same text style. (Please see the attached image.)
So is there a way to set a certain hole type to have a certain font or size within a hole table? Because if there is, I'd obviously like to remove it..... But I can't seem to figure out where the issue is.
I am trying to add a hole to an existing hole chart. I drop the part into a new drawing, set the ordinate "zero", and add a hole chart by selecting a few holes. When I attempt to edit the chart: click chart, right click "edit", click add hole, select new holes, right click to create, the "create" selection is greyed out and all I have to choose from is cancel. I searched the forum here but could not find a reference to this a know issue. Am I doing something wrong or is this a glitch of 2013.
We are running win7 x64 machines and this happens on both the 2013 Ultimate and Premium editions of the product.
Question: Is it possible to control the Hole Dimensions called out on the Hole Chart? As in controling leading/trailing zeros for main hole dim, alt home dim and tolerances? Can you combine the Main Dim with the Alt dim in a single column, separated with parentheses? (same with tolerance?)

I just started using Inventor and I have this issue, that whenever I set a dimension in a sketch, the sketch doesn't update to the new dimension until I move my mouse/cursor. Is this normal? Is there any way to change it so it updates as soon as I hit the enter button (after entering a dimension)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed when creating assemblies, applying a positional constraint, the parts don't move. In order to get the parts to "move" to their constrained position I have to try and drag them with the mouse then they snap into place. Also updating the assembly works as well.
What setting could I have changed so that once I press apply on a constraint it moves the part immediately?

If I have a dynamic block of a window. I can move either side of the block but the basepoint doesn't move. Is there a way to move the basepoint as well so its not off in space? or just delete it and have it now shown?

Using the pen tool, I drew a complete path around the donut, made it into a selection with feathered edges, and successfully copied the feathered donut to a new transparent background. The problem is that, while the outer edges of the donut are feathered and nice-looking, the inner edges of the donut hole are still unfeathered and sharp. recommend an easy way to feather the inside edges of this donut hole?
be aware that this "donut hole" is actually the inside of a dog's ear, so use of the elliptical marquee is not an option.

As the new CAD manager for my firm I am going to restructure our entire server as the current structure is very unorganized and inefficient. Projects date back as far as the 90's and I would like to move them all into an archive folder but also have them still be working files as far as XREF's are concerned. None of the drawings have XREF's that utilize the relative file location feature so when I do move a folder, all of the XREF's must then be updated. This is not an option because I have at least 500 projects that will be moved which would be far too time consuming.

As of now my project has to find many of my files and I do not want to copy and past them into my project folder as this will mess with my parts numbering system. I want only one part / assembly file per part. I assume that you can do this with the project dialog box or some other system tool I just can not seem to figure it out.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust did a beginning drawing and placed it too close to an edge. Tried figuring out how to move it away from the edges. When I select it with one of the select tools, and then use the move tool, it moves the whole canvas (right word?). I did not want to move the canvas, just the object on the canvas, or layer, or background, whatever it is called.
Perhaps there is no way to move this. If that is the case, then how to I make the background bigger, and keep the object where it is so I can draw around the object?
Is there a way to get the move tool to pan only to the edges of the layer and thus not show me the gray area outside the layer?
I'm making a math video and I want a way to constantly return back to the top left corner of the image.
I'm working on a dynamic door block, which allows me to add some height and width values to the door. everything works fine when I put in the attributes right away when I insert the block. Only if I want to mirror and stretch the block before I enter the values they want move to the correct position. After I run "attsync" it moves to it's correct place.

When you zoom into the picture that's being edited, scrollbars appear but you can scroll only to the edge of the picture, pixel in pixel this way it's pretty hard to capture the edges with selection
How to add a free space to all sides so it will be possible to move edges of the picture to the center of the screen and work with them easily?
so in the texture editor. as far as i know we can only move the verts around (with F12). we can select edges, to see where they relate on the mesh, but we can't move them. is there any way to move edges of the layout??
