I just started using Inventor and I have this issue, that whenever I set a dimension in a sketch, the sketch doesn't update to the new dimension until I move my mouse/cursor. Is this normal? Is there any way to change it so it updates as soon as I hit the enter button (after entering a dimension)
View 3 RepliesI have a problem with a recently downloaded version of Inventor. When I start a new drawing all I get is a blank blue screen instead of one with a grid display. If I start a line I can see the cursor change to draw the line but a line does not appear. I don't know if it something with how I installed the program or just system settings.

My drawing has dimension line and I want AutoCad to change the dimension value after inserting according to scale factor. How can I do this? At present after scaling in one direction, dimension value remains same as before scaling.
Cursor does not change to a circle when using the eraser.I'm sure it must be a tick box somewhere.

For example, we design products using aluminum extrusions and our cost is determined by foot length. How can I create the extrusion part to have a per foot cost that will dynamically update when I change the parts length for an assembly? It seems to me to be a fundamental need for many industries.
I will happily take any links to information that will explain this process. I cannot find anything online that clearly explains the process of creating parts with costs and variables.
When I have a none vector tool active for example the brush tool and I press and hold the Ctrl key down I see the cursor change from the current tool to the move tool cursor. If I presses and hold the Alt key I see the cursor change from the current tool to the eyedropper tool. If I press and hold both the Ctrl+Alt keys a see a cursor icon change to an icon that has two up pointing Arrow heads one Black the other White. What tool is that cursor for? It seems to copy and move the current layer and move its position over the canvas.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn an assembly i project a circle. I use the new center point with the hole wizard and save the assembly and the parts.
When i move the original circle the hole doesn't move with it, and when i try to edit the hole's sketch there are no dimensions. So, i cannot move the hole.
I noticed when creating assemblies, applying a positional constraint, the parts don't move. In order to get the parts to "move" to their constrained position I have to try and drag them with the mouse then they snap into place. Also updating the assembly works as well.
What setting could I have changed so that once I press apply on a constraint it moves the part immediately?

If I have a dynamic block of a window. I can move either side of the block but the basepoint doesn't move. Is there a way to move the basepoint as well so its not off in space? or just delete it and have it now shown?

They all have to be to scale so my dimensions will work properly, the only problem is, when I want to take a screenshot of the image to put into my document, the dimensions are way too **** small. I have tried everything to change them and nothing has worked. I don't know where my command line window is so I can't go directly to dimstyles.

We need re-location the diameter dimension after we change the drawing view's scale. but we didn't know how to change the Startpoint of the dimension (mark with Red word "1"), just find the text location.
Who knows how to set the new point to for the startpoint?
I like to change the dimension of the length from 388mm to 400mm to represent another similar part with another part number. Yet I still need the old part.
What is the easiest way to do so? When I use 'save as" and then change the dimension, I need to recreate the dimensions in the dwg files. Is there a way to avoid creating the dimensions?

We have a project for re-design and manufacture here (Australia) of a machine that has been designed and detailed in one of our US offices. For this reason, we will be wanting all dimensions in mm etc, rather than inch.
My intention is to open the idw(s), update the styles library (done, i think...), change the active standard to "AS Metric" (got the code sorted for that too), and then change all dimensions to AS Metric.
So far i have each of these 3 processes in a different sub, called from a master. But my problem is in changing the style. I could change a dimension's style to match that of another existing style:

but I am having trouble setting is to the active style.

Say you've dimensioned something but end up wanting to change the dimension definition points...drag the end point to another location that you want dimensioned.
I thought it used to snap to a new location, but now it will not. I have to redraw the dimension (including all text I added).

I need the dimension of .5 to become .25.It won't work, probably because it is the same dimension of Sheet metal Tickness.

I can change a dimension, the 3D sketch of the route will update, but the pipe will not move into the correct position. Doing multiple rebuilds and updates does not update the piping.

This can be done manually bu editing the dimentions text after placemement, but I was ooking to set this as a default.. I cannot see where exactly this is controlled in the Styles Manager - I am only able to change the Dimension text font but the diameter symbol font is always on AIGDT.
I was therefore looking for an iLogicvb code that could do the trick, but I am not able to even change the dimension fonts... The code runs with no errors but nothing gets updated in the drawing...

am experiencing display problems with Civil 3d 2012 on my Hp Elitebook laptop, when i open surface properties and go to styles dropdown menu i get empty dialog but if i move mouse cursor out of the dialog they appeared the same issue appears on other dialogs. I installed c3d 2013 trial still i get same problem. I installed autodesk certified driver same problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedUsing 2013 sp1.1...After I change the hole size in the part, the callout in my hole note does not update. (crazy, I know).
If I pull a new hole note after the change, it has the correct dimension. But, if I change the hole size again, this new hole note does not update.I put the part on a new idw and it updates correctly, so somehow the idw is hosed.
One of my co-worker has this problem with his cursor's crosshairs. When he moves his cursor the crosshairs are like blinking or sort of flashing. It's not that big of a problem but it's just getting anoying in a short while.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhenever i move my cursor over a 3D solid, outlines of the solid stay dashed.I tried changing the visual effect settings but it doesn't work.
it doesn't only do this in every view (top,side,front) but also when i'm panning around and hover my mouse over any solid. Using the regen command resets the solids so that they don't have the dashed outlines anymore.
whenever i'm panning around and i have conceptual view on, i have to switch from conceptual -> wireframe -> conceptual if i want the solids to look normal again.
In dialog boxes the drop down menus appear blank until I drag the mouse over it then the contents appear as I drag the mouse across. Also the cursor doesn't echo back (flash). I have tried updating drivers to no avail.
Running Civil 3D 2011 with all updates.
