I have a frame member and a plate bolted together using the bolt connection feature. I moved the frame member slightly and while the bolt and nut moved the hole in the plate did not. Do I have to redo the connection when I adjust the position of parts to get the hole to stay in line with the bolt?

After I create bolt connection by select the "termination" and all the fasteners, the length of bolt is fixed. How can I change the length of bolt?

It previews all the bolts just fine ut will only place a bolt in one of the circular references.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn my workflow i always use a wireframe to do my design. I always try to put all the information necessary on that wireframe so that i don`t get myself lost in my own designing. That includes also the position of the holes that will be put on my structure.
To ensure that i have, later-on, no error. I try not to do anything adaptive. To make my holes without projecting those points, i use bolted connection. Before, when i was using that function, for the same sketch layout of a bolt pattern that i made, only on one member those holes where made. So i was forced each and every time to use that function as much as i had members to put those holes in.
Now with the new patch, i was happy, for some reason the holes where appearing to the other members. But Some time later, i realized that even though the holes where made, It wasn`t at the same sizes!!!
I want to put a threaded bolt in a threaded hole, until the bolt comes in contact with the bottom of the hole in .iam file.
View 5 Replies View RelatedQ1: I am trying to do something that has always baffled me in 3ds Max. Something very easy to do in AutoCAD! Being a technical animator alot of my client supplied models are often missing components. Most notably bolts and other fasteners! This tends to look bad if they are missing so I take the time to put the proper fastener (in the EXACT center) of each hole. Pretty easy to do with AutoCAD snaps and a solid model but what about 3ds max?
Q2: The motor when imported from an ACIS file has the pivot set to the center of the motor. Unfortunately this pivot is off center of the motor shaft because of the electrical box on the side. How can I move the pivot to the center of the motor shaft accurately? Can I somehow move the pivot to the center of a sub-object shaft selection? Having this pivot (or an appropriate dummy object) at the exact center is critical when aligning other rotating objects. Otherwise the wobble looks bad!
The attached images is a motor (body object) with four bolt holes in the base that need to be filled with the bolt (4 times). how I might achieve this easily as well as Q2. Keep in mind that I will be doing this for hundreds of bolts in some cases.
Using 2013 sp1.1...After I change the hole size in the part, the callout in my hole note does not update. (crazy, I know).
If I pull a new hole note after the change, it has the correct dimension. But, if I change the hole size again, this new hole note does not update.I put the part on a new idw and it updates correctly, so somehow the idw is hosed.
I check online that AutoCad should have a 'grips' function, but I cannot use it because 1) I cannot find the grips and 2) I want to move the hole into an accurate position. I want to do the following simple task. Please first read the attached picture. Assume now I want to edit 3D model by changing the hole center to another location and double the radius. How I can do those? (I could not find any properties to edit)

I've got a template with a set of Object defaults for an Inch drawing and a set for a Metric drawing. I've just noticed that within my metric set, if I insert a hole table with tapped holes, the font on the tapped holes doesn't match the other hole types. I'm searched around, but all the settings for the hole table style reference the same text style. (Please see the attached image.)
So is there a way to set a certain hole type to have a certain font or size within a hole table? Because if there is, I'd obviously like to remove it..... But I can't seem to figure out where the issue is.
I am trying to add a hole to an existing hole chart. I drop the part into a new drawing, set the ordinate "zero", and add a hole chart by selecting a few holes. When I attempt to edit the chart: click chart, right click "edit", click add hole, select new holes, right click to create, the "create" selection is greyed out and all I have to choose from is cancel. I searched the forum here but could not find a reference to this a know issue. Am I doing something wrong or is this a glitch of 2013.
We are running win7 x64 machines and this happens on both the 2013 Ultimate and Premium editions of the product.
I have had this problem intermittently for a few weeks since going to Inventor 2013 SP1.1. I have a part within an assembly and that part has holes created in it before assembling it with other parts. Now when I try and create a hole table in a drawing of the assembly I cannot select hole edges and the hole table is blank when trying to create it automatically from view selection. I originally thought it may be an alignment issue but I have since aligned everything correctly and it still persists. I can create the hole table if I import in just the part into the drawing but it will not allow me to create the table on the whole assembly.
I can also create the hole table if I use "centred pattern" and create cross hairs on all of the holes however it does not give me correct annotations for the holes as shown in attachment and I can manually change the annotations but seriously this should not be required. As shown in the screen shot it reads as A1 down to K1 instead of A1 to A10. .
Question: Is it possible to control the Hole Dimensions called out on the Hole Chart? As in controling leading/trailing zeros for main hole dim, alt home dim and tolerances? Can you combine the Main Dim with the Alt dim in a single column, separated with parentheses? (same with tolerance?)

View 4 Replies View RelatedHow can I update the data connection source for all the display map layers in my map layouts? If I want to change the shapefile a layer is representing I can not get the layer to point to the new shapefile.
The layer seems to always remember the name/location of the old shapefile. If I export the layer and modify the value in Notepad then load a new layer from the saved and modified layer file it will change. However I would have to do this for every layer I want to change.
Is there another way to change the property of this layer in AutoCAD?
Example: I create a drawing and layout with a Display layer that points to the FDO data for shapefiles "C:datauildings.shp".
I then give the drawing to another worker hows data is on "E:DATABUILDINGS.SHP" the data connection to the layer cannot be updated that I can see.

While creating holes in a part, a small counter shows (when you click on a point) of how many holes there are.

I have recently moved a catalog from a PC to a mac (after 5+ years using PSE on a PC). I transferred (using PSE11 restore catalog process) 25,000+ photos across using the instructions from adobe and had it all working perfectly for a couple of weeks.
Recently all the photos in my catalog have become 'missing files'. The catalog is located in a custom location on the internal drive being '/users/marcus/pictures/adobe/organizer/media/media/'
pse11 now thinks location is '/volumes/public/users/marcus/pictures/adobe/organizer/media/media/'
The /volumes/ directory contains references to files on network drives (and show up under 'Shared' in finder). I have no idea how PSE11 decided to think all the files in ther catalog were on a network drive.
When I reconnect the file manually, then the program returns the error "The file exists in the catalog."
This error appears to be the one referenced here: [URL] ... being kb404560 but these are mostly windows based solutions. I have tried the suggested solutions without success on the mac
I suspect the problem occurred due to OSX's stadard process of mounting virtual drives to install new programs but this is a guess as I am new to macs. I have unmounted all recent drives
I am running OS X 10.8.4 on a late 2012 27 inch iMac 3.4GHz i7 mac with 8 GB of memory.
I downloaded X6 patch #1 with no problem, but then I downloaded patch #3 and when I press Continue to install I get a notice: An Internet connection required. connect to the Internet and try again... But I AM connected to the Internet! I have no options how to proceed.

I have the slide block constrained to slide the distance of the base plate and when I reach the end the bolt continues to rotate when, if this was a real part, should stop. When I pull the object up in an assembly I can create an iMate and it will show that I made one. But when i go to the next page (Place Content Manually Using iMates), I can't get the bolt to snap to the iMate inside the object, the bolt just stays in one position the whole time.
