View 8 RepliesI have some problems with Bolt Connection Component Generator. For placement I choose Concentric, i choose all references, but I can't select Diameter. It is stuck to 10mm and i can't change it.
I am using Inventor Profesional 2013
After I create bolt connection by select the "termination" and all the fasteners, the length of bolt is fixed. How can I change the length of bolt?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I have two parts as occurrences in an assembly, how can I programatically constraint two workplanes (one from each part) to a flush constraint.
My problem is that I can get the Occurrences, say ...
CComPtr<ComponentOccurrence> pTube1Occ = ...
CComPtr<ComponentOccurrence> pTube2Occ = ...
...but I don't know how to delve into these two pointers to get hold of two named workplanes within them. I'd then pass the two workplanes (somehow?!) to the AddFlushConstraint function.
get_SurfaceBodies doesn't seem right and neither does get_SubOccurrences.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a project in wikiHelp under Inventor tutorials, Content Center, Create iMates. When I pull the object up in an assembly I can create an iMate and it will show that I made one. But when i go to the next page (Place Content Manually Using iMates), I can't get the bolt to snap to the iMate inside the object, the bolt just stays in one position the whole time.

1. When placing pumps,bolt-on walkways etc..etc..on to a metal frame at the assembly level do you place the pumps/walkways first and then add the bolt holes to the frame or do you create the bolt holes first in the frame and then place the pump/walkways on to the holes?
I want to insert from content center a screw and modify it, prolong it's thread and more. How can i do that?
In a part file i cannot insert parts from content center, should i make an assembly? and then?
Using bolted connection, I want to place a bolt through 3 sheets of metal. The first 2 sheets i want it to automatically place a slightly larger hole (which it does) but I want the 3rd sheet to be threaded so the bolt thread and hole thread are the same size.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen a bolted connection is used, the bolt changes in length as the stackup of hardware increases and decreases. I have noticed that if I do not grab the red arrow to adjust the length, the amount the bolt extends past the nut
seems to be only about 2 threads. What is the formula Inventor uses to determine this extended length?
I'm trying to constrain a length of ACME threaded rod to a nut so that when the rod is spun or threaded it shows it traveling into the nut as it will be grounded. I would like it to work as a driven assembly or if I was to turn or spin the rod by the mouse. I've reseached this for the last 2 days and can not spend any more time on it so time to ask the experts.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been working with Inventor 2011 - Pro and have not had any success with utilizing a bolted connection (blind hole) in an FEA stress analysis. I have reviewed and one suggestion involved a using a bolt placed "as custom" instead of "as standard". It appears however that there is a default setting that I currently have which doesn't allow this as a selection.

I'm running autodesk inventor pro 2013.
In my work i normally use our standard full threaded rods with square nuts. But, since we make the rods and nuts in the factory, they do not follow any international standard.
I wanted to add the threaded rods to the Bolted Connection menu in order to be able to automaticaly add the rod and to let inventor calculate the needed lenght.
I was able to add the rod to content center as an Ipart with all available sizes, but it doesn't appear on the bolted connections menu.
See attached our normal bolted connection, how can I add this to bolted connection so inventor will size it automatically to the needed lenght?
Im using the bolted connection tool and when i chose all of circluar reference and pick out my bolt and nut the tool will only draw one bolt and ignore all the other circular references. It previews all the bolts just fine ut will only place a bolt in one of the circular references.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to assemble two parts, each of which has four matching bolt holes. So I do a "mate" between a hole on one and a hole on the other. This works fine, and the parts now behave just like two parts bolted together with one bolt - one can be rotated relative to the other around the bolt hole. So there is one degree of freedom left to be constrained.
But the obvious ways to constrain that one last rotational constraint result in overconstraint. Trying a "mate" between the circles at the ends of the corresponding bolt holes breaks the first constraint, and the non-grounded object "jumps". Trying to auto-mate the two holes results in the holes being constrained as tangent, with the holes not lined up. I've tried constraining the center points of the end circles of the holes. That doesn't work right either.
Doing the second constraint as "tangent-inside" does work. That's a 1 DOF constraint, which makes sense. It took me a while to figure that out. The help files aren't very useful when multiple constraints are involved.
I want to use a certain bolt from Content Center. Unfortunately, the particular size I want to use does not exist in the content center, but it does exist at one of our suppliers. How can I add this size to Content Center?
Or, can I somehow check out this bolt as an iPart, and then I can modify it (add any size I want, or even make it custom) according to my will?I am using Inventor 2013
I want to change the description of a bolt to be "M(bolt size) bolt. then add the length in another column. example M10 bolt.
I want to know if it is possible to do this using the Family Properties & changing the "Family Description" to something like M=<NND> BOLT. i have tried but had no luck as it only comes back with "M Bolt" & no diameter
Any other way to make it populate a BOM easily.
The problem is simply reconciling stress analysis results with hand calculations and I suspect I'm simply setting up constraints incorrectly or something.
A simple problem of an M6 bolt in single shear as in the image below. I am using the formula in image to calculate the shear stress. The diameter (being an M6 bolt) is 6mm and hence radius is 3mm with a shear force of 1000 N being used. Using the formula in the image below and the figures above, I calculate the shear stress in the bolt to be 35.4 MN/m^2 or 35.4 MPa if you prefer.
My problem is that when I simulate this problem in Inventor 2013 stress analysis the results (for any kind of stress analysis; Von Mises, 1st and 3rd principal, all the planes etc...) are way way off what the hand calculation is, ranging from 160 MPa to around 800 MPa.how to set this example up in Inventor correctly so that you get the same (or near enough) result.
I have a frame member and a plate bolted together using the bolt connection feature. I moved the frame member slightly and while the bolt and nut moved the hole in the plate did not. Do I have to redo the connection when I adjust the position of parts to get the hole to stay in line with the bolt?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAt my workplace it has been standard practice in Autocad to call out bolt assemblies in a parts list as: 1/2-13 unc hex hd. bolt w/flat washer & nut. How to do this in Inventor?
