May 8, 2012I want to put a threaded bolt in a threaded hole, until the bolt comes in contact with the bottom of the hole in .iam file.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Use Mean Value For Threaded Hole
Dec 14, 2011Is there a way to tell Inventor to use the mean value for threaded holes? As it is IV always puts the Minor-min value for the hole size, which is a PITA for any and all CAM software.
The thread data can be extracted in CAM, but the hole size still remains what it's modeled as. I know I can edit the spreadsheet and cheat it, but that isn't exactly the correct way to go about it.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Threaded Hole Interference Check
Jan 13, 2009When I run an interference check on an assembly, any of the threaded holes that have fasteners in them shows interference. I guess that the problem arises from the document setting "Tapped Hole Diameter" is set to minor.
To solve the problem with the interference, I could either change the modeled size of the hole or change the modeled bolt diameter. Either one causes problems in other places.

Oct 23, 2012I just did a Circular Pattern of a threaded holes to a second solid body. The hole came through but the thread did not?Right now I have SP1 installed. I have been using solid bodies for a long time now and have not seen this.
A co-worker just came up with the same thing?

Jun 18, 2013I understand the process of splitting faces and applying a Bonded Contact between the split faces when you have a bolted connection with a nut, but what kind of contacts would you use for say a threaded connection?For example, suppose you have a plate that will be bolted to a mold. The plate has clearnace holes for said bolts and so that the bolts are threaded into the mold to be lifted. The plate has a threaded hole for the lifting mechanism (Swivel Hoist Ring). Finally, the desired load is applied to the Swivel Hoist Ring and the bolts are placed in pre-tension. I would like to simulate this via FEA but am getting tripped up in the contacts. Also I am trying to make it as simple and efficient as possible (by eliminating any bolts or other parts that are not needed). I use INV Pro 2014.

Apr 21, 2011I have a part I am trying add a threaded hole to. The option for threaded holes is unselectable. I tried editing the registry as past posts have said, but the "parts" folder doesnt show up in the registry. I have been through every folder in the registry and dont see anything that has to do with threaded holes.
Running Inventor Pro 2012 on Windows XP.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Removing Dual Dimensions For Threaded Holes Only
Jan 4, 2012We want to use dual dimensions for holes and figured out how to do this by editing the styles. This works great except for threaded holes the dual dimension is redundant as shown in the picture.
Is there a way to not have the dual dimension for threaded holes but keep them for other holes? Having a dual dimentsion for a metric thread or having it printed twice on the drawing is pointless.

this is from the Clamp Project on this site: Inventor Wizard, The Clamp Lever is turning or rotating the clamp rod into the Clamp Base Spacer but I could not simulate the Thread or the Screw motion if that is the term, or the 1 or 1/2 turn of the Clamp Rod to 1 Pitch movement, plus I can't seem to put the Rod inside the Clamp Base Spacer hole when the Contact Solver is ON, maybe modeling issue on my part.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Threaded Lines From Thread Features In Section Views
Nov 8, 2012Here is the issue we have found. While sectioning a view of an assembly in idw, the threaded lines of threaded features have a strange behavior depending on the section line used. I have attached a simple example that shows what he have found. Basically, if the section line is straight, threaded features show correctely. Independent of section participation. If the section has segments at different angles, then lines are not appearing.
The first three views have both parts excluded from section participation(Obviously, there isn't any real life need for this, but I did it to just simplify the illustration without adding a bunch extra parts) The base view is the top view or view showing the round shape. For the first example at the bottom, i simply projected the view to the left and made sure "Threaded Features" was selected. Threaded lines show fine.
Second example is the similiar, except the i used a section view instead of the projected view. Both parts are excluded. Section line is straight. Verticle in this example. Doesn't have to vertical as the line is straight.
Next example is similiar to the second, only difference is the section is not straight. You can see the threaded lines do not show. This is the problem we want to solve. How to make the threaded lines display!!!
Last example shows the same section, only this time the component is included in the section participation. And it works.
Any settings to change or a trick to make it work. Otherwise, i think i need to issue a support request with autodesk.

Jun 30, 2012I'm having issues with threaded text. I've created my desired paths for threaded text, essentially a rainbow, that aligns with my package design. When I create threaded text it behaves wierdly. The following occurs:
1) creating threaded text with my rainbow paths, it creates the paths upside down. I've figured out how to rememdy this with the path options, but wish it didn't default to upside down.
2) My path layers for each row are in decending order, i.e. - would like text to cascade top to bottom; however, when I start typing, it uses the bottom line first causing my paragraph to read from bottom to top. This is incredibly frustrating!

Nov 3, 2007I have a frame member and a plate bolted together using the bolt connection feature. I moved the frame member slightly and while the bolt and nut moved the hole in the plate did not. Do I have to redo the connection when I adjust the position of parts to get the hole to stay in line with the bolt?

Apr 13, 2012Q1: I am trying to do something that has always baffled me in 3ds Max. Something very easy to do in AutoCAD! Being a technical animator alot of my client supplied models are often missing components. Most notably bolts and other fasteners! This tends to look bad if they are missing so I take the time to put the proper fastener (in the EXACT center) of each hole. Pretty easy to do with AutoCAD snaps and a solid model but what about 3ds max?
Q2: The motor when imported from an ACIS file has the pivot set to the center of the motor. Unfortunately this pivot is off center of the motor shaft because of the electrical box on the side. How can I move the pivot to the center of the motor shaft accurately? Can I somehow move the pivot to the center of a sub-object shaft selection? Having this pivot (or an appropriate dummy object) at the exact center is critical when aligning other rotating objects. Otherwise the wobble looks bad!
The attached images is a motor (body object) with four bolt holes in the base that need to be filled with the bolt (4 times). how I might achieve this easily as well as Q2. Keep in mind that I will be doing this for hundreds of bolts in some cases.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Hole Table Formatting - Different Text Depending On The Type Of Hole
Nov 6, 2012I've got a template with a set of Object defaults for an Inch drawing and a set for a Metric drawing. I've just noticed that within my metric set, if I insert a hole table with tapped holes, the font on the tapped holes doesn't match the other hole types. I'm searched around, but all the settings for the hole table style reference the same text style. (Please see the attached image.)
So is there a way to set a certain hole type to have a certain font or size within a hole table? Because if there is, I'd obviously like to remove it..... But I can't seem to figure out where the issue is.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Ultimate 2013 - Cannot Add Hole To Existing Hole Chart
May 22, 2012I am trying to add a hole to an existing hole chart. I drop the part into a new drawing, set the ordinate "zero", and add a hole chart by selecting a few holes. When I attempt to edit the chart: click chart, right click "edit", click add hole, select new holes, right click to create, the "create" selection is greyed out and all I have to choose from is cancel. I searched the forum here but could not find a reference to this a know issue. Am I doing something wrong or is this a glitch of 2013.
We are running win7 x64 machines and this happens on both the 2013 Ultimate and Premium editions of the product.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Can't Select Hole Edges When Creating Hole Table
Nov 19, 2012I have had this problem intermittently for a few weeks since going to Inventor 2013 SP1.1. I have a part within an assembly and that part has holes created in it before assembling it with other parts. Now when I try and create a hole table in a drawing of the assembly I cannot select hole edges and the hole table is blank when trying to create it automatically from view selection. I originally thought it may be an alignment issue but I have since aligned everything correctly and it still persists. I can create the hole table if I import in just the part into the drawing but it will not allow me to create the table on the whole assembly.
I can also create the hole table if I use "centred pattern" and create cross hairs on all of the holes however it does not give me correct annotations for the holes as shown in attachment and I can manually change the annotations but seriously this should not be required. As shown in the screen shot it reads as A1 down to K1 instead of A1 to A10. .
