AutoCAD Architecture :: Changing Text Styles Between 2011 And 2012?
Jul 30, 2013
I would like to preface this post by stating, for the purposes of this message, that I have absolutely no understanding of the workings of AutoCAD. I have looked at many forum discussions concerning my issue and I am simply unable to understand the terminology and/or concepts being described.
I recently purchased a new computer for my office. Accordingly, I needed to install AutoCAD on this new machine. All of the machines in my office are running AutoCAD 2011. However, after addressing some licensing issues with AutoDesk, I received a license and installer for AutoCAD 2012. Everything was installed correctly (as far as I understand) and the program itself is working fine. The problem I am running into involves the text style for the files I open:
For files saved on AutoCAD 2011, the text style used is Arial. Simple; no custom fonts. However, when I open that same file in AutoCAD 2012, the text style for the entire file has changed to Franklin Gothic Book. (Note that all files are accessible from all computers in the office through a network drive)
That is my only understanding of the situation. As I mentioned earlier I have very little understanding of the workings of AutoCAD. I have had this problem for almost a week now and I am no closer to understand this issue, much less solving it.
How do I get my dimension styles, door styles, window styles, etc. from Architectural 2011 to 2012? I migrated but I don't see where it brought my styles over.
After I plot to pdf, I get an error message: You do not have a PDF viewing application installed. Go to the internet and dowload a pdf viewer. The problem is that Acrobat Reader X is installed on my computer. I saw the thread about Reader X having spooling issues, so I reinstalled Acrobat Reader 9. Still get the same message.I can go to the file afterwards and open it, despite this message, but it is supposed to open from Architecture after it is plotted and it won't do that.
We just upgraded from ACA 2011 to ACA2012 and we are getting some wall cleanup issues with foundations. some walls, the footings show while adjacent wall (same style) footing disappears.
also, when i copy a wall where the footing is missing, the new copied wall shows the footing. when i move a wall without a footing, the footing shows up.
I am currently using Autocad Architecture 2010 and would like to change the rendering options if possible. I have drawn something and can view it in realistic style, but when I render it, the lighting comes into play and everything looks too light. What I would like to know is how could I render my drawing in realistic view so that the rendering reflects what is on my screen in model space? Or realistic sketchy view for that matter?
When I want to establish a new annotative text style, and I'm in the Text Styles dialog box, in the "Size" box, why will it not let me enter a Paper Text Height of 3/32"??? Every time I try it defaults to either 1/16" or 1/8". I have checked the Annotative box.
I'm new to this company and still learning the ropes on there standards and how they do things. I have a floor plan and when I was cleaning it up, I noticed some extraneous linetypes and text styles. Being the good drafter that I am, I tried to clean it up, but to no avail. I even tried to make a new file, but when I copy clipped it in, it brings in the extra linetypes and text styles. Ran audit, but didn't find anything unusual. I even deleted everything but can't seem to purge out the extra linetypes and text styles. How to remove them? see attached for the drawing file. running autocad architecture 2012 on windows 7 64 bit machine. and the files was originally created in revit, that was converted out.
I'm trying to set up Annotative Text styles in my Xref base drawing, so that I can alter the Annotative Text Scale in paperspace of my titlesheet drawings.
Is it possible to create the Annotative Text styles in an xref and amend these on a titlesheet when said xref has been imported?
I've checked the "Help" section of AutoCad but it all seems to relate to creating Annotative Styles within a single drawing.
I'm having trouble accessing text layers in a logo I am trying to make.
Each time I create text, it gets put into its own layer; that seems to be the way GIMP does things. I'm fine with that. However, once I've completed making a text layer and moved on to creating a second text layer, I can't seem to get back to the first text layer to make changes, such as the colour of the text or the size of the font.
The window for the graphic indicates that there are several layers but I can seem to get back to any previous layer. I don't see any menu options for accessing one of the other layers. PageUp and PageDown don't show me the different layers. It's as if the layer's content, colour, font, etc. can't be changed once I've started a new layer.
How do I access the layers that I created before the current layer?
I am using GIMP 2.6.11 and running on Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2.
I am using Civil 3D 2012 and seem to have a reoccurring problem with the text styles changing. At the start of the day, I will open my drawing and find that my text style has changed and I am not sure what is causing this. I check my text styles and none of my settings has change nor has the text style. Nothing seems to fix the problem other than running a repair of the system.
I have a job that the customer provide the original CAD files with Civil 3D styles in them. As the project has progressed we have found many of the styles were not created properly and notified the customer. They have told us to fix the errors and send them the corrections...
Now that I have one file working properly I have to push the changes to the 30+ styles through the 100+ files of the job. Is there a quick way to do this in Civil 3D 2011? (It is part of our contract to use this specific program and release year without converting the files.) Or do I need to drag-and-drop each style into each file?
AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 (Primary), 2011 by contract. Dell Percision T3500: MS Windows 7 64-bit SP1; Intel Xeon CPU W3505 @ 2.53GHz, 12.00 GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro 600
I'm trying to migrate our styles library from Inventor 2011 to 2013 using the style library manager. I have the current (2013) library loaded in the first slot, and my old 2011 library loaded in the second slot. Under the 2011 library, the Migrate button is active.
I click Migrate, and after telling me it can take up to 2 minutes to migrate the library, it proceeds. After about two minutes, I get a progress box generated by Inventor (not the style library manager) that indicates it is copying some 1300 files from one location, to another. I can't tell if it is the same location or not, as the filepaths are truncated in the progress box.
As it finishes, usually with one file remaining, I get the "Autodesk Inventor 2013 Has stopped working" error. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly etc. etc.
I do not relish having to go back and manually define all my styles.
Context: Product Design Suite Ultimate 2013, Win 7 Pro, 12 GB ram. I've tried both with and without my antivirus realtime scan on.
We are using AutoCAD 2011 and AutoCAD 2012 on the same drawings. It is slowing the drawings down in AutoCAD 2011. There is at least one person that only has AutoCAD 2012 on their machine.
I open files from many different customers in 'vanilla' Autocad 2012, upon exiting I occasionally get an exclamation mark inside of a triangle that appears on the screen by itself after the program closes...No text associated with the close just an exclamation mark inside of a triangle with an 'OK' to dismiss....Does not appear to be file specific, does not happen after any specific input either...Is there perhaps a log I can enable and/or interrogate to see what is causing this warning?
I get an error now after instaling Inventor 2012 when I am using 2011( because of a project with other users I am on).
I get this error.
win 7 64 bit sp1 cpu intel xeon E5-2687W0@3.106 eight core two solid state hard drives 32 gig of ram Autodesk product design suite premuim 2014 64bit Nvida quadro 4000 Space Pilot ver. 1.6.2 2010
- Installed pspro_cad_fp_10.0.39.3 update for PSP Server and for PSP Clients.
And now, some drawings we can not open in Inventor 2012. Inventor crashes!
But some drawings we are lucky to be able to open and work with.
Drawings have the same template.
If the drawing is locked (read only) then inventor 2012 can open it without a crash.
If I drag&drop drawing out from PSP onto my Desktop, Inventor 2012 can open drawing without problems.
So we are not able to work with some drawings in Inventor 2012 and PSP 2011.
As the first and quick (and 100%) solution - rollback to Inventor 2010 can cost us about 5 man-days of work. (Because we have done some work in Inventor 2012 allready and will not be able to work with this in Inventor 2010)
When pushing F1 for help in 2012 Civil 3D regarding this feature, it takes me to a page about migrating custom files over.
It says to copy the pipe/structure files over, then to open up Civil 3D and type in PIPECATALOGREGEN. Well, it doesn't work and says that it is an unknown command.
why I'd get this error when doing an Export to AutoCAD 2010/2007/2004...? It seems to be innocuous, and irrelevant, but it's disturbing none-the-less. I haven't been able to identify any reason why it appears, and all drawings seem to work normally, with no problems. AUDITs turn up no errors. So I've just been ignoring this message, but it's distracting. And it doesn't always appear... although I haven't been able yet to identify what causes it to appear in some drawings, and not others. I think it only ever happens when there's an XREF, but not sure... (Maybe when an XREF is in an older version of C3D/LDD/AutoCAD...?)
I've got a .PDF of a survey attached (not overlayed) to my site plan construct...on a printable layer. In my sheet it shows up. When I print preview it's there. When it comes out of the plotter it's not there. If I print the PDF by itself through Acrobat it prints fine. Is there a bug here?
Several users here in my office have been having a strange issue with ACA 2011. When doing various things such as, saving, regen'ing, or manually switching between open drawings, ACA will "blink" to a completely different drawing.
For example, right now I have 4 drawings open. I'm trying to go from drawing A to drawing B. It goes to drawing B and starts to regen model space, then it blinks back to drawing A. Does the same for any of the 4 drawings. Only way to make it stop was to close drawing A.
As I said, it not only does this when switching drawings. It'll also do it after it's done saving and when I try to regen.
Is it possible in ACA2011 to explode a block, but control what layer the pieces go to?
I have a block for a closet rod and shelf , but it always has to be re-sized once in the drawing so i must explode it. since it was made on layer 0 it explodes to that layer and I have to change the items to the proper layer.
I am having issues with drawings from a consultant. They are sending us DGN files and they do not seem to want to import in the latest AutoCAD Architecture 2013 I have deployed throughout the offce. However, these same drawings have no problem in importing to AutoCAD Architecture 2011. In 2013, I get no activity once I select the file to import. If I click on the screen once, the program dims and the program says it is not responding. But I have no problem with 2011.
