View 4 RepliesI would like to preface this post by stating, for the purposes of this message, that I have absolutely no understanding of the workings of AutoCAD. I have looked at many forum discussions concerning my issue and I am simply unable to understand the terminology and/or concepts being described.
I recently purchased a new computer for my office. Accordingly, I needed to install AutoCAD on this new machine. All of the machines in my office are running AutoCAD 2011. However, after addressing some licensing issues with AutoDesk, I received a license and installer for AutoCAD 2012. Everything was installed correctly (as far as I understand) and the program itself is working fine. The problem I am running into involves the text style for the files I open:
For files saved on AutoCAD 2011, the text style used is Arial. Simple; no custom fonts. However, when I open that same file in AutoCAD 2012, the text style for the entire file has changed to Franklin Gothic Book. (Note that all files are accessible from all computers in the office through a network drive)
That is my only understanding of the situation. As I mentioned earlier I have very little understanding of the workings of AutoCAD. I have had this problem for almost a week now and I am no closer to understand this issue, much less solving it.
How do I get my dimension styles, door styles, window styles, etc. from Architectural 2011 to 2012? I migrated but I don't see where it brought my styles over.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm finally getting around to using 2012 and would like to know the correct way to migrate my 2011 custom settings. I seem to recall some one here saying that you can't just copy them over or you risk messing up Max. I have heavily customized 2011 and wouldn't want to have to start from scratch.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a job that the customer provide the original CAD files with Civil 3D styles in them. As the project has progressed we have found many of the styles were not created properly and notified the customer. They have told us to fix the errors and send them the corrections...
Now that I have one file working properly I have to push the changes to the 30+ styles through the 100+ files of the job. Is there a quick way to do this in Civil 3D 2011? (It is part of our contract to use this specific program and release year without converting the files.) Or do I need to drag-and-drop each style into each file?

I have been working on a template (.DWT) for Civil3D 2012. I decided to continue my work recently with a newer vesion C3d 2013, and to my shock there seems to be no way at all to transfer my newer settings (I.E.: default layering, default data bands, newer CODECS, etc to the C3d 2012 version. This is about a week's worth of work that I will have to replicate manually to C3d 2012. I cannot believe that the 2 versions are this completely incompatable.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a project that we made some changes to several of our Civil 3D styles. I'm trying to use the Manage/Import Civil 3D styles utility to update my template. It's not working. When the dialog comes up, it shows me what styles are new with a green plus sign next to it. It does not show me the items that are in conflict (changed). Once I process it, the new style does get added to my template but the modified styles did not come over.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen pushing F1 for help in 2012 Civil 3D regarding this feature, it takes me to a page about migrating custom files over.
It says to copy the pipe/structure files over, then to open up Civil 3D and type in PIPECATALOGREGEN. Well, it doesn't work and says that it is an unknown command.
I'm having issues with my toolbox--> Subscription Extension Manager--> Utilities--->Import styles and settings for Civil 3d 2011.
I'm getting:
Command: _AeccUiImportStylesAndSettings
Unknown command "AECCUIIMPORTSTYLESANDSETTINGS". Press F1 for help.
It's really annoying. I'm back to using the regular command line.
Is there anyway of fixing this? All the other commands work except this one and it works on my co-worker's machine. I tried switching workspaces, rebooting etc etc. Nothing seems to solve it.

I created a template using ANZ as the base template. Now I have a requirement to change the country kit to UK. What all the things I need to change in the template to use the UK country kit.
Also when users using my template on a machine which don't have ANZ country kit installed, they getting error messages such as missing SHP files, Payload item not found.
How to fix these issue also what is the correct procedure when giving using Civil3D template who are using different country kit.
why I'd get this error when doing an Export to AutoCAD 2010/2007/2004...? It seems to be innocuous, and irrelevant, but it's disturbing none-the-less. I haven't been able to identify any reason why it appears, and all drawings seem to work normally, with no problems. AUDITs turn up no errors. So I've just been ignoring this message, but it's distracting. And it doesn't always appear... although I haven't been able yet to identify what causes it to appear in some drawings, and not others. I think it only ever happens when there's an XREF, but not sure... (Maybe when an XREF is in an older version of C3D/LDD/AutoCAD...?)
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to put the 2011 topobase and the 2011 ArcGIS plugin into 2012 or 2013? Seems such a shame just to lost all of that functionality.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a user who will be moving to a new Windows 7 computer, for which I have installed AutoCad Civil 3D 2012. They would like it so that all of their settings and preferences are copied over from their current version of AutoCad Civili 3D 2008. Currently the user has windows XP professional.
how to do this as I am unfamiliar with AutoCad.
I either have bad settings or have found a bug in 2012 when plotting parcels.
I have a P-drain Parcel setting for major drainage areas - I set the display to the C-PROP-BNDY layer which seems to be OOB for the entire 'property'. I create the parcels from poly lines on the P-DRAIN-AREA layer.
The parcels go to the C-PROP layer. My problem is that I can't seem to get the property lines to plot. I try to set C-PROP-BNDY to the correct color, yet when I plot, the lines don't show.
I'm trying to migrate our styles library from Inventor 2011 to 2013 using the style library manager. I have the current (2013) library loaded in the first slot, and my old 2011 library loaded in the second slot. Under the 2011 library, the Migrate button is active.
I click Migrate, and after telling me it can take up to 2 minutes to migrate the library, it proceeds. After about two minutes, I get a progress box generated by Inventor (not the style library manager) that indicates it is copying some 1300 files from one location, to another. I can't tell if it is the same location or not, as the filepaths are truncated in the progress box.
As it finishes, usually with one file remaining, I get the "Autodesk Inventor 2013 Has stopped working" error. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly etc. etc.
I do not relish having to go back and manually define all my styles.

How do you apply certain contour label styles to certain surface styles (i.e. When I have an existing surface i want the default contour labels to be an "existing contour" style). Right now the default is a "finished contour" label style for all surfaces.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have updated our Company TB and Border and was now working with the Line weights of our layers. I placed our TB into the directory so when we do File -> New, we can select our TB. My problem is when I open it up, I get an error dialog box about a Conflict Styles (error shown below). Where exactly do I save our Library styles so that when I open up our TB, my pre-selected lineweights, layers, etc... load up?
I am using IV 2012 Pro on a Windows 7 Computer.
I have made up templates with design styles (line thicknesses etc.).
However, when I try and load these templates up, the design styles do not load with the template as an error messgae appears. This has been attached.
I want to open a template up and for it to open with these design styles automatically loaded as default.
I am using Inventor 2012 LT.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOur Cad person recently switched from a dying windows machine to an iMac. I know you can do the liscene transfer (the windows pc is being put down) however I can't find anyway to get the LT 2012 Mac download. (The disc is a windows only) I thought about just getting the trial but only 2013 is offered and we don't plan on updating as of yet.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe are using AutoCAD 2011 and AutoCAD 2012 on the same drawings. It is slowing the drawings down in AutoCAD 2011. There is at least one person that only has AutoCAD 2012 on their machine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter I plot to pdf, I get an error message: You do not have a PDF viewing application installed. Go to the internet and dowload a pdf viewer. The problem is that Acrobat Reader X is installed on my computer. I saw the thread about Reader X having spooling issues, so I reinstalled Acrobat Reader 9. Still get the same message.I can go to the file afterwards and open it, despite this message, but it is supposed to open from Architecture after it is plotted and it won't do that.

I hate having to setup one pc to all the autocad setting that we need and then having to go do 27 more. I want to take my exact setup, menu, system variables, colors, file locations...everything and apply it to 27 more computers. We have tried using profiles but it only coppies over a few things and some are still missing. Is there are way to copy everything?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have created several dwt's that are used fairly extensively in my organization. They are just the standard setups; 8.5 x 11 or 11 x 17 or 24 x 36 sheets with title blocks. What I was wondering is how to set up standard templates for things like multileader and dimension styles. If I create the styles in the dwt, and then save the it, would any person to use the dwt afterword have those styles available? Or is this something a bit more complicated like having everyone point to the same "acad.lin" file so that we all have the same linetypes?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI open files from many different customers in 'vanilla' Autocad 2012, upon exiting I occasionally get an exclamation mark inside of a triangle that appears on the screen by itself after the program closes...No text associated with the close just an exclamation mark inside of a triangle with an 'OK' to dismiss....Does not appear to be file specific, does not happen after any specific input either...Is there perhaps a log I can enable and/or interrogate to see what is causing this warning?
