AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Change The Format Of Lat / Long In A Point List Display From Degrees
Apr 4, 2012
Is there any way to change the format of Lat/Long in a C3D point list display from degrees, minutes, seconds to decimal degrees? I have looked pretty hard, but can't find anything. The geodetic calculator only does one item at a time, I think. Any plug-ins out there? I suppose this could be on a wish list as well.
I am using R2012.and have ended up manipulating point values in Excel-not a quick way of going about it.
Is there a way to convert decimal degrees to a point id? I have tried inputting the decimal degrees in as point but land no where close to the coordinate it should.
I was tried to convert a point from UTM-39N to Lat/Long using geodetic calculator; but when I checked the converted coordinates by another applications (like GeoLab); they were a little different (about two seconds) & I'm sure GeoLab is right.
I'm using civil 3d 2008 and trying to lable my pavement radius with Line and Curve Label but the delta setting is only in decimal, how do i get it to read degrees, minutes and seconds.
For some reason I am unable to get my lat and long's to display using note labeling in C3D 2013.
I can setup a labeling style to add and display NE coordinates where ever I place them on my surface but my Lat and Long label style remains blank.
I've checked layer being on, text size, drawing unit/zone settings, even tried replacing my NE label style call outs in the NE label style text component editor properties to Lat and long and still remains blank in my composer preview....
It's taking a long time to move cogo points. About 2 minutes for a single point move. Other commands affecting points are taking longer too. Would it just be a function of file size.
Sample point:
AECC_COGO_POINT Layer: "V-NODE-P-CURB-FACE" Space: Model space Handle = daf3e Primary point group : Pro Face Curb Point Number : 5198
First time importing into 2012-have csv file that I imported. Coordinates land in right spot. Local system-No transformations/State Plane zones attached. When I look at them with tracking everything is okay. When I export the points they are the same I imported.
i have a simple fence line type with "x"s....if i draw the line straight up or to the right it looks perfect. but if i draw it anywhere to the left then the Xs are off centered.
How do I get the export parcel ananlysis to show degrees minutes and seconds instead of the default decimal degreees. My direction settings are set to DMS, but I can't see where to change arc deltas...
I just had an internal request for this and I had to look it up. So I'll share what I found and have a place to find it myself next time.
One way to do it is to select a COGO point to bring up the COGO Point Contextual menu tab. In COGO Point Tools you can select List Available Point Numbers.
Is there a way to re-order the point file format listing for points on the settings tab? I have tried everything and it will not change the order of the listing.
when i create a point it does not display (label or point). if i create a point group with overrides for the point and label style the points display. the default point and label style are set to the same styles as the overrides.
i made a survey, about 2000 points with my TSC3R6. I exported my CSV file to a PNEZD file with comma seperated. When i try ti import the file (CSV then i made a .txt), C3D tells me "no point file format match found". Then I opened the txt file, searched for any error that would not let me import my points. The only thing i have found would be the description of my points that sometimes had a space between 2 words (ex: bt balast and ht balast) so i changed it to bt-balast and ht-balast. i looked further and didnt found anything else. heres a sample of my txt file:
I am developing an application for C3D using 2010 vb.net. How to build a list of Point File Format names using PointFileFormatCollection and PointFileFormat methods? How to extract the names from PointFileFormatCollection.
How the order of the list of Point File Formats is controlled?
We have a large list of formats predefined for doing coordinate transformations between various coordinate systems, but there does not seem to be any logical order to the list of formats.
how to show point labels on the points I imported from a .shp file. I used MAPIMPORT and brought in the associated object data but I don't know how to get it to display in my drawing.
I am new in using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013. I used ArcMAP 10.1 to create a .mxd MAP of 4 points/locations - each point/location has the values of SampleID, XYZ-coordinates, Depth, ChemicalName - see the attached file for details.
I used the ArcToolbox to convert ArcMAP to CAD in the GeoProcess, obtained a DWG, and saved it in a folder of my C:/Temp/CDC_ArcGIS-GeoDatabase folder - see the first page of the attched file. I used AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 to open that DWG file - I played with it in the basic 3D Wireframe a little bit, but I don't know how to display the feature/object of my 4-point MAP - see the last page of my attached file. How I can display/view the feature/object of my 4-point MAP in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013.
The background of my AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 is black. How can I change the background color to white or other light colors?
The list of bands with location selected as 'bottom of profile view' is blank, where as 'top of profile view' displays the info correctly. With this error I can't select any of the band to add remove modify them.
I have attached 2 pdf's showing top and bottom views.
I just started work in Civil 3D 2014 and was going about creating different point groups for some volume calculations so I could create different surfaces. I noticed after creating my first point group that the NO DISPLAY group could not been seen in the Prospector under Point Group. Now in previous editions there has always been a NO Display Group so you can easily view your different groups. Is this something they changed in Civil 3D 2014 or was the installations faulty?
I'm trying to determine if it's possible to take a 09 LDD Companion drawing in which the elevations for many points have been moved AND/OR rotated (to align with roadway), and not only convert these to C3D, but also have them transferred along with the move/rotate information. We're talking about a mile long stretch of roadway and the project is 6 years old (i.e. no C3D when it was originally done).
The problem is that there are a ton of ground shots that need only be shown to 0.1 precision but are shown to 0.01 precision. LDD was not able to assign an elevation precision to groups of points, only all cogo points together, which meant we had to explode certain groups of "soft shot" points once they had been inserted at the desired precision.
If there's no way to do what I'm asking, it's no big deal for this case since the higher precision can be easily rounded to the lower by the viewer (better than the other way around). But as I am the only one on C3D and have been for the past 2 and a half years, we will likely face this monster again several times over with other drafters' projects and I'd like to have a best practice in place if we need to go the other way (extracting 0.01 precision from 0.1 precision).

I am tryiny to import coordinate file like I have so many times and the Select File box keeps telling me "No point file format match found". I click the proper file format and it shows in the Preview box but the OK box will not go dark so I can clcik on it. The file is a CSv and tried making it a txt with no luck. Using 2012.
Just switched to 2012 from 2010. When I try to edit the description format field in the properties window of a selected cogo point, I can't type in caps, it's all lower case. If I right click and edit the point, I can use capital letters, however. (running C3D 2012 sp4, Win7 64bit, 8GB)
I am using Auto Cad 2011 and I always use the option to 'attach' xrefs. what is the difference between attaching and an overlay? Does one use less memory than the other? When would be the best time to use an overlay?
Also when my new version was installed when I bring in an xref the layers show light (I really like this) another girl in our office has the same version but her layers are still saturated. how does she change it to show ghosted layers in the xref?
is there a way to not have the long list of xref layers when I bring them into a drawing?
Question 1: Is it possible to change a Survey COGO point to a regular COGO point so you can edit the datum?
If not:
Question 2: Is it possible to transfer the survey database from one office to another so the end office can make datum changes to the survey COGO points. Will the link between the file and the database still apply?
