I exported my pipes from c3d 2013 to SSA 2013 but when I export them back to c3d via landxml the pipe network falls in wrong coordinates too far from my project area. same problem appears in c3d 2012
I have not installed 2013 yet, and was wondering if you are able to Export to LandXML. And if you can, is previous version able to import that LandXML file?
We are using Civil 3d 2012 with Topcon Data Collectors. Topcon will not read a profile created by using "create surface profile" command but it will read a profile using "Profile Creation Tools" command. We are not sure if this a civil 3D, Topcon or a LandXML issue?
I have created a surface and have exported it to LandXML for import into another software. After generation of the surface, I have cleaned up the surface triangles to eliminate triangulation outside of the area of interest. I have tried this both with deleting actual surface lines and by applying a boundary. After I edit the surface, I export it as a LandXML and bring it into my application where the surface still has the lines outside of the area of interest that I wanted deleted.
What I suspect is happening is that C3D is recording that the lines were deleted in the edits section of the surface, but that the actual lines are not deleted from the surface definition. My other software is not smart enough to figure this out from the LandXML file. Is it possible to finalize all the edits in C3D so that upon export my deleted lines do not transfer through?
First time importing into 2012-have csv file that I imported. Coordinates land in right spot. Local system-No transformations/State Plane zones attached. When I look at them with tracking everything is okay. When I export the points they are the same I imported.
Inventor Professional 2012.like many companies we export our parts lists (in our case, .csv) for our MRP system. I borrowed and modified Curtis' ilogic code that I found in previous posts on these forums to fit our needs. The only thing I'm getting hung up on is the sheet in which the parts list is found.
Right now the code is pointing only to sheet 1 to find the parts list. Unfortunately some of our assembly drawings have many sheets and the parts list can be on any of them. So whenever I run the rule in a drawing that doesn't have the parts list on sheet 1 I get an error. Is there some way for Inventor to search all the sheets? or at the least search on the active sheet?
'name for .csv file name = iProperties.Value("Project", "Part Number") 'path for .csv file folderName = "L:CadLink" Dim oDoc As Inventor.DrawingDocument oDoc = ThisDoc.Document
I just had an internal request for this and I had to look it up. So I'll share what I found and have a place to find it myself next time.
One way to do it is to select a COGO point to bring up the COGO Point Contextual menu tab. In COGO Point Tools you can select List Available Point Numbers.
I am developing an application for C3D using 2010 vb.net. How to build a list of Point File Format names using PointFileFormatCollection and PointFileFormat methods? How to extract the names from PointFileFormatCollection.
How the order of the list of Point File Formats is controlled?
We have a large list of formats predefined for doing coordinate transformations between various coordinate systems, but there does not seem to be any logical order to the list of formats.
Is there any way to change the format of Lat/Long in a C3D point list display from degrees, minutes, seconds to decimal degrees? I have looked pretty hard, but can't find anything. The geodetic calculator only does one item at a time, I think. Any plug-ins out there? I suppose this could be on a wish list as well.
I am using R2012.and have ended up manipulating point values in Excel-not a quick way of going about it.
Getting odd results when importing pipe networks from StormCad v.8 via LandXML? I'm using the stand-alone version for C3D 2008. It always puts the outlet gound elevation at zero. Sometimes it puts the pipe centerline elevations at the rim elevations of the structures. Sometimes it reverses the pipes on their own centerline, causing really weird results.
I have opened every XMLfile with XML Notepad and checked that the data that came out of StormCad is correct. But something in the translation back to C3D 2008 goes haywire. I love C3D, if only I could be more confident of importing pipe data.
Well I have a LandXML and I import the file into the SDB, it gives me line work but only Station Setups. I have no turned angles or points short of the Occupation Points. What is going on here. I have tested this in C3D12 on one PC C3D13 & 14 on another PC and have the same issue. However a co-worker imports to a student version of 12 using my template and gets points and lines.
I am trying to import a LandXML surface into my project. However, when I click the "LandXML" button in the "Import" tab, absolutely nothing happens. The command _AeccLandXMLIn appears in the command line, but there is no dialog box and no further action from Civil3D. How I can get this to work?
I ran into a similar problem with the normal "Open File" dialog box, and had to run a FILEDIA command to turn that dialog box back on. Is there a command like that to turn on and off the Import LandXML dialog box?
I am using Civil 3d 2011 and i have about 200 landxml files that I need to import into my drawing. Is there an easier way of doing this besides importing them one at a time?
Is it possible to edit a surface imported from LandXML with additional survey information (points and figures)? I would assume the tin could be edited and the new data included in the surface.
I've created a surface into Civil3D by importing a LandXML file created from contours in a .dgn file. When I create profile views for the alignments, the elevations are shown negative (-500 to -20) where as they have to be in between 500 to 670. Also when I run the surface elevation analysis, all the elevation are shown in between 1000 to 2200 inches as shown in the figure attached.
Am I missing any conversion or some settings when importing the surface.

I have been outputting surfaces from Civil 3D 2012 using the LandXML export function. Some of the XML files that are output the data is on a single line and some of the outputs are on multiple lines.
Not a major issue as they both import back into C3D ok but within my office we edit the XML file slightly inorder to get it into another software package and require the multi line format.
The only difference I can see is the size of the data used to create the surface! All drawings have the same LandXML export settings..All surfaces have been created using a combination of point groups, breaklines etc..
We're working on a project which is causing me to question our management "system" (more like lack there-of). There are about 4 Existing Surfaces and 3 Design surfaces, and a half dozen or so drawings needed to show the various elements of this construction project. In the past we've done either copy and paste to show the same surface in different layouts or had a number of layout tabs. (Which quickly get pretty annoying if you're trying to show too much "different stuff" in each layout.
Looking at Data Shortcuts...we've never used them. When we have to make last minute changes everything automatically "updates" right? And the drawings should load faster and crash less because they're not so huge, right? The only Major Drawback I see is this: we use one person's workstation as the server" so two of us refer to the M drive path and one refers to the C drive path. Would this just screw everything up as it does when we have xref images? (Have to relocate the file path every single time the C drive person saves the file in order to see the image) I understand using "relative path" should fix this, but I haven't had much success with it.
And LandXML export/import, what exactly is the difference between this and a Data Shortcut?
I am trying to speak 'surveyor' without the background in the data collectors. We have a new surveyor who uses Terramodel. I have an LDD parcel database that the surveyor is requesting to be translated to points for stakeout.
I can export the parcels to xml and Terramodel will import them, but it seems to import them as lines. The Surveyor wants points to be able to do a map check in Terra Model and program the data collector. I am not seeing a create points from parcel function anywhere from 2004 to 2012.
The list of bands with location selected as 'bottom of profile view' is blank, where as 'top of profile view' displays the info correctly. With this error I can't select any of the band to add remove modify them.
I have attached 2 pdf's showing top and bottom views.
2012 SP2. I get this very descriptive message while trying to create a point cloud: The following error occurred processing the point cloud data: An error ocurred in data processing.
I've previously created point clouds from the same data (ENZ comma delimited) without a problem. I believe this was done before applying SP2. Any problems creating point clouds since SP2?
Surface does exist as we can see the triangles/contours or whatever we choose to display. When we run the Water drop command, we are getting a message saying that the point is outside of the surface. We have selected a valid surface by both picking it visually and selecting it from the dialogue. All layers are on and thawed and we are picking well inside of the surface.
Why it would be telling us that the point is outside the surface?
I'm working on a stream restoration project and we need to determine the x coordinates and corresponding elevations along a stream alignment at certain sample lines. The centerline of the stream's alignment has been created as well as sample lines for cross sections at 50' intervals. We need the coordinates & elevations of each sample line (cross section) exported into an excel/txt document.
For instance, at station 1+00 of the alignment we have a sample line. We need to know to the right and left along that sample line the corresponding elevations and that x coordinate) from the alignment. Primarily, whole contour intervals but more information would be useful as well. I was hoping this could be automatically generated.
I have a plugin that creates cogo points, and for some users it seems to crash every time, but for others it works just fine (as for myself, I have zero problems with it). The subroutine is simple:
Using civLock As DocumentLock = acadDoc.LockDocument Using trans As Transaction = db.TransactionManager.StartTransaction() Try Dim Location As New Point3d(PointX, PointY, PointZ) Dim CogoPoints As CogoPointCollection = civilDoc.CogoPoints
[Code] ..... The fatal error occurs when the point is added, prior to the attempt to assign a raw description. What is boggling me is that, like I said, it works flawlessly for me (and others) but not at all for some users.
