AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Profile Band Vertical Geometry PI
Jan 16, 2013I did a grading, created surface with it and draw a profile view. Everything seems to be good, except with the vertical geometry band. I need to fix slope and length only at break point, means PI (blue line), but aligment has created more PI with each surface tringular line at intersection (us i note). Is there any why to specify PI only at a break points?
I can erase PI manually on static profile view mode, but i desire to do it in dynamic mode..., in case when conditions changes.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Profile View Horizontal Geometry Bands
Sep 9, 2013I'm using C3D 2012. I created a profile view for a straight horizontal alignment. The band label for the horizontal won't appear for this particular straight aligment. I have a few other alignments that has curves in it and the profile view displays the labels fine.
I tried to create a new straight alignment again, create a profile view but I get the same results.I also tried it on a new drawing using the NCS metric template with same results.
I can think of (if this is a bug) is to extend my alignment by say 0.1m and add a new IP at the correct alignment end, mask that on plan and end my profile view to the right length.

Sep 26, 2012is there a way to set up the profile so it is anchored to horizontal geometry from certain point. that way when i change the alignment in the middle it won't cause profile to be shifted because station changes (length changed) while the vpi stations stay the same as before.
i can make a program in .net to specify a station and move all the vpi station by that amount which can be obtained easily by taking the length before you modify minus length after you modify.
Pretty common problem. it's not that hard to do in really the logic is defined. i have this alignment that's 60km long that's only one portion. hecka lots of horzontal curve and vertical curves. over 100.

How is it possible ? C3D can detect the type of geometry poinr, so it would must to know R, Lenght,. A, etc....
In addition I 'd like to do it using the aligment label set.... sci-fi , isn't it ?
When you have to create plans, the aligments need to show a lot of information. Doing it manually is so boring..... (and in XXI century ...... )

Mar 1, 2013I have an alignment label that I normally use to show the PVI's of a profile in the plan view.
This is a little unusual, but in a specific case I wanted to design my profile at one alignment, but show it at another. I designed my swale profile in the pathway profile view and then superimposed the swale profile on the swale profile view. I then went back to the swale alignment to add these labels.
It's a no-go AFAICT. The only profile available for me to select for these labels is the original ground profile from the surface.

Essentially labeling bottom of curb at pc, pt, mid, and pi, and would like to get and expression to add the top of curb, but under hor. geo style expressions you cannot pickup pgl data and PGL style expression are not loaded in the hgp data.
Note: Its all Resistentialism, so keep calm and carry on 64 Bit Win7 OS.

Aug 26, 2013In the Band Style_A pdf you can see the location of my elevation labels, they are below the bottom line of my profile view grid. In the Band Style_B pdf the labels are showing up in the proper location (above the bottom line of the profile view grid). To move the labels to the proper location I changed the "Gap" setting from 12.5 to -24. Is there a way to change this setting in my "style" rather than have to go make this change to the style every time I use it in a profile?

Jan 20, 2010I cannot for the life of me get the start and end labels for any band to display within a profile view. Each band has the 'label start' and 'label end' labels ticked and the major/minor labels display at every other point but don't display anything at the start of the view or end. The profile views are taken from a simple straight alignment and the profiles themselves extend the full length of the view.

For some reason the profile band labels (including the stations) randomly disappear and all you see is the band box. If you REgen they will reappear but will dissapear again when you plot preview and they WON"T plot...even though they are there in the drawing!

Mar 30, 2012I was looking at placing pipe information into a Profile Band. I see that I can include the following properties in a pipe label in the profile band:
<[Total Slope Across Span(FP|P2|RN|AP|GC|UN|Sn|OF)]>
<[Number of Pipes in Span(GC|UN|Sn)]>
<[Drop Across Span(Um|P2|RN|AP|GC|UN|Sn|OF)]>
Only problem is they don't actually give me the information of a spanning pipe, only a single pipe. I see no way of choosing which pipes will be spanned. Am i missing something in the creation of the profile band that allows me to choose the spanning pipes or is this broken?

Sep 23, 2010We are using Civil 3D 2010, Version 4.1 and it is being used on both WinXP and Win7.
This is an issue that has been coming up at different times with profile views and them shifting when viewed from our viewports in our layout tab. It looks correct in the model space. But it shifts to the right 10' in the layout tab. We have 7 tabs in this drawing. I have looked through all of the profile view settings and it does not seem like any of these are the issue. I created a new viewport in the same tab and received the same shift to the right. I then created a new tab in the same drawing (not copied from the one that has the issue), created a new viewport, and the shift is not there. The PSLTSCALE, MSLTSCALE, and LTSCALE are all set to 1 in all of th tabs.
Woudl there be a layout tab setting that is causing this? This is happening on all of our machines with this drawing so I know it is not a specific user/machine issue. I have attached a .pdf showing the three cases described above if that were to provide any additional insight.

Mar 21, 2013 I'm trying to add assign a Pipe Network to a profile view Band in Civil 3D 2011. I was using COM to add profiles to bands because I couldn't figure out how to do it in .NET. But when it comes to pipe networks I don't see how you can do that with COM. How the .NET implementation is supposed to work? Here's the code I have that works for COM, except for the pipe networks. I essentially need to assign the correct pipe network to the band.
