AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Adding Sanitary Sewer Flows To Nodes From Spreadsheet
Dec 12, 2012
I have a master plan development that I am trying to model different wastewater flows scenerios for I am basically following this paper from AU 2011 [URL] but have a couple of issues I am trying to work around.
Basically I want to take a spreadsheet of flows determined for specific nodes and upload it into SSA quickly from the paper
I can see that you can write a shp file of the network and then add different flow scenerios to the .dbf file and them use the GIS import function of SSA to get the flows assigned in one hit.
The issue I have however is that my network is a prelimary design in Civil3d as pipes and structures and if I create a .sdf of the network and then.shps from that data I do not get the structure sump elevations, this is not something that created in the shp file export process,
To work around this I through maybe I could export the network from Cicil3d to SAA which gies me all the strucutres with the correct sump levels and then also create a .shp and .dbf file and add the flows and them do a GIS import of just the structures and merge them with the exisiting network as the structure names as exactly the same and therefore the gis import should find the correct structures.
However SSA does not and adds a second lot of nodes with the same structure name but with Junction in the front.
I tried to open the Storm and Sanitary Sewer analysis program and got an error message. The error message asked me to send a report but the report was rejected.
I need to model a diversion manhole in a storm sewer system. The diversion will take X cfs from the system and send it to a water quality treatment facility. After leaving the WQ facility, it will be returned to the storm sewer system at the next manhole downstream.
I tried in Hydraflow but it doesn't look like diversions are possible. Thought about modeling up to the diversion manhole and taking that data into some other program, and then coming back into a second Hydraflow model that handles the downstream bit.
New user for civil 3d and the hydraflow extension for civil 3d. I have my pipe network created, all the correct catchments are attached to the correct basin/inlet. i have opened my network in hydraflow and am ready to run it. when I click run it says no flow. Now I know there is another step i need to set my flow wth TOC, I've inputted that, i am using the standard idf curve hydraflow, i have the areas with their coefficients, however it is not calculating my flow rather it is telling me no flow is inputted for certain lines i.e. the ones with MH connections and no inlets.
I have attached my .stm file to this thread, i changed the extension so it would post, just delete the .doc from the extension and it should work in your hydraflow.
In Civil3d 2012 when the Edit in Storm and Sanitary Analysis command is used to send a Civil3d pipe network and Catchment areas to SSA the program appears to open as expected with the "Create New Project" dialogue box displayed.
When the Create New Project prompt is accepted nothing is displayed in the SSA plan view.
But.... If I go to the SSA File pulldown menu the .spf project file is available and when it is selected a dialogue box is displayed indicating that the Background file(the dwg) file cannot be found and do we want to search for it "Yes/No".If No is selected the pipe network is displayed as expected.
If Yes is selected and the dwg file located and selected then the pipe network is displayed as expected but the background file looks like proxy objects.
I opened Hydraflow Sewer Extensions and created a project. I was able to save it and open repeatedly without problems. I opened open project dialogue window here I copied and renamed a copy of the project file. When I tried to open either the original file or the renamed version - Hydraglow shuts down. The project file has attached dxf file as abackground. (see attached). I hate to lose a day of data entering given my tight deadlines.
I am having difficulties modeling culverts within my model for the 100 year flow. I have seen the sample file within SAS, and all of my culverts have a storage node at the upstream end with a weir representing the road. However, when the weir is utilized, peak flows are artificially high. For example, despite a basin only producing 11.7 cfs, the weir has 8.94 cfs and the pipe has 10.35 cfs. I am using hydrodynamic routing with a 5 second routing time step.
I think that our file has been corrupted. We tried to adjust the elevation of a 6-inch sewer pipe in the profile and then the display of the pipe went up to a 12-inch, even though the pipe properties still show it as a 6. All the other pipe sizes seem to be working, though we did have a similar problem with 4-inch pipe the day before and fixed it with an audit. Audit does not fix this problem. It seems to apply to all six inch pipes.
The file was created in Civil 3D 2007. We are now using C3D 2012 with SP1. My machine is 64-bit but the other person working in the file has 32-bit.
I have attached the file and the pipe in question is in the sewer network and is named SP B 11.
Is there any hope for this file? Of course this is right as we are trying to meet a deadline.
PS I tried to add the file but was size restricted, then I trimmed the file down to under 1.5 MB and was still size restricted.
I have a layer with a vector circle. I only want to use a segment of the circle. Placing the cursor on the circle does not give the +ADD. How can I put some nodes on the circle so that I can delete the rest?
Pipe network storm pipes: Fairly new to Civil3D and trying to set up parts list for the storm sewer pipe and would like the plan view to appear as it does currently. We use a polyline for centerline of pipe, similar to dashed linetype but line and space are the same, width set to pipe width.
When I create a report from 'Staion offsets to points' to excel, the Station, (what I would call chainage) is coming up as 3+10.00 in the spreadsheet. I need this to be 310.000 so I can apply formulas in excel. How do I change this.
I've changed the alignment label style to show it as this format, and it works fine. I've also gone into 'Edit report settings' and changed alignment station display to ####, decimals to 3 places, yet it keeps giving me the same format with 2 decimals.
Also, in this report, how do I remove the metre symbol 'm' (i.e 1400m) from the offset and elevation display?
I need to create an excel spreadsheet with quite a lot of data, apply formulas, and I really don't want to remove every 'm' and rewrite every chainage.
If I draw lines between nodes and then list the lines it gives me slope distances. how can I set it to draw 2D lines but still have 3D nodes? I want my points to display the correct elevation but when I draw lines connecting them I want the line to be 2D so when I list them I get the correct bearing and a horizontal distance.
I import a text file. I look at the coordinate list in the toolspace under the survey tab and the coordinates listed are correct. but the nodes in the drawing are 4 feet off.
Is there a faster way to create figure prefix i.e form excel spreadsheet or access.
I have one tip also. When you modify the figure database "C:ProgramDataAutodeskC3D 2013enuSurvey" by using notepad and you add "*" after each figure it will connect during linework codes that much the prefix code and will exclude the integer, EPN1 and EPN2 will be treated as EPN
I am using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 and just installed HotFix 3 (so I should be all up to speed). I have created a water linetype (---W---) and telephone linetype (---T---). The problem I am having is the 'W' and 'T' seem to flip at some of the nodes based on if the Polyline is going up or down (from left to right). When it is going up it displays right side up...going down it displays upside down. They are one single polyline with nodes.
I have tried REVERSE, PEDIT then Reverse, my linetype definition is set to U=0.0, but nothing has worked. I have redrawn other polylines and they all have the same issue.
difference (and the utility) for displaying a flooded (blue) and a surcharged (red) node? I assume that the surcharged (red) node is when water is bubbling out of the grate, what is the flooded node, and when would I want to check on the flooded nodes?
My surveyor gave me a topo survey done in no particular coordinate system. He set up his total station on a PK nail and gave it a coordiante of (5000, 5000, 100). I used this survey to generate a surface.
I also have a site survey of the same site, done in state plane coordinate system. the two surveys have mulitple common points; pk nails, iron pins ect.
What i need to do is move the points for the topo survey over to the survey that is in state plane. A simple move command will not do this.
How do i go about moving these points to thier correct location without having to manually edit the .txt file?
I work for an A/V company. We use AutoCAD LT 2013. We are looking for a program or a computer script to check our A/V Flow Diagrams and Conduit Riser to make sure that all cables are accounted for.
Using Storm and Sanitary Analysis from a wastewater industry model? I have been looking into that but have run into a problem regarding units (using metric units). When importing data from wastewater industry model into SSA it assumes that pipe dimensions are given in meters and subbasins area are given in ha. My data is in mm and sqr.m.
Can I define what units to use when importing this data??
If I import GIS data (shp files) I can define what units the data is in.
I have been trying to export an autocad sewer map and import it into gis. I dont know the best way to go about this and bring along some intelligence to gis.
This autocad dwg has no real intelligence in it.I can make shp files in autocad, that seem to work of for lines, I can do a data extraction for points and texts and import the spread sheets, that works too. I want to minimize the amount of editing we will need to do to the new map in gis by importing the line sizes, pipe type from cad.
I'm working on a document with tables, and when I ask it to autoflow, using the Shift- Click, after the first table, the rest of the tables are on one page, with long cylindrical text boxes, instead of the pages with large textboxes on them.
I am trying to add CGList to the shortcut menu through CUI, however I cannot preselect an object. It wants me to select an object after I right click and pick the command. Pickfirst is already set to 1.
Why is my corridor adding a hinge? [Atleast I think that is the problem]
I am trying to create a berm that is 8' wide. For my assembly I used 4' wide basiclanes and daylightgeneral (with 3:1 slope in all parameters) on left and right side.
In the top image I have circled two of the areas in which the hinge line is shown. And in the bottom right the cross section of one side of the berm is shown. As you can see on the inside (left) there is two feet sloped at approximately -1% before it daylights to the surface at 3:1
I have a surface profile 1 and a corresponding water level profile 1 of a flood plain. Now I get an updated surface profile 2 and the engineer ask me to ajust the water level according to the difference of surface level 1 and 2.
How can I add a irregular distance (water depth) to surface profile 1?
