AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Hydraflow Sewer Extensions
Jan 17, 2013I opened Hydraflow Sewer Extensions and created a project. I was able to save it and open repeatedly without problems. I opened open project dialogue window here I copied and renamed a copy of the project file. When I tried to open either the original file or the renamed version - Hydraglow shuts down. The project file has attached dxf file as abackground. (see attached). I hate to lose a day of data entering given my tight deadlines.

Jan 3, 2013I need to model a diversion manhole in a storm sewer system. The diversion will take X cfs from the system and send it to a water quality treatment facility. After leaving the WQ facility, it will be returned to the storm sewer system at the next manhole downstream.
I tried in Hydraflow but it doesn't look like diversions are possible. Thought about modeling up to the diversion manhole and taking that data into some other program, and then coming back into a second Hydraflow model that handles the downstream bit.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Adding Sanitary Sewer Flows To Nodes From Spreadsheet
Dec 12, 2012I have a master plan development that I am trying to model different wastewater flows scenerios for I am basically following this paper from AU 2011 [URL] but have a couple of issues I am trying to work around.
Basically I want to take a spreadsheet of flows determined for specific nodes and upload it into SSA quickly from the paper
I can see that you can write a shp file of the network and then add different flow scenerios to the .dbf file and them use the GIS import function of SSA to get the flows assigned in one hit.
The issue I have however is that my network is a prelimary design in Civil3d as pipes and structures and if I create a .sdf of the network and then.shps from that data I do not get the structure sump elevations, this is not something that created in the shp file export process,
To work around this I through maybe I could export the network from Cicil3d to SAA which gies me all the strucutres with the correct sump levels and then also create a .shp and .dbf file and add the flows and them do a GIS import of just the structures and merge them with the exisiting network as the structure names as exactly the same and therefore the gis import should find the correct structures.
However SSA does not and adds a second lot of nodes with the same structure name but with Junction in the front.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Adjust Elevation Of 6-inch Sewer Pipe In Profile
Oct 11, 2013I think that our file has been corrupted. We tried to adjust the elevation of a 6-inch sewer pipe in the profile and then the display of the pipe went up to a 12-inch, even though the pipe properties still show it as a 6. All the other pipe sizes seem to be working, though we did have a similar problem with 4-inch pipe the day before and fixed it with an audit. Audit does not fix this problem. It seems to apply to all six inch pipes.
The file was created in Civil 3D 2007. We are now using C3D 2012 with SP1. My machine is 64-bit but the other person working in the file has 32-bit.
I have attached the file and the pipe in question is in the sewer network and is named SP B 11.
Is there any hope for this file? Of course this is right as we are trying to meet a deadline.
PS I tried to add the file but was size restricted, then I trimmed the file down to under 1.5 MB and was still size restricted.

Have not found anything that works, the Structure rotation Angle doesn't work at all like that.

We use a polyline for centerline of pipe, similar to dashed linetype but line and space are the same, width set to pipe width.

Jun 13, 2011I have been trying to export an autocad sewer map and import it into gis. I dont know the best way to go about this and bring along some intelligence to gis.
This autocad dwg has no real intelligence in it.I can make shp files in autocad, that seem to work of for lines, I can do a data extraction for points and texts and import the spread sheets, that works too. I want to minimize the amount of editing we will need to do to the new map in gis by importing the line sizes, pipe type from cad.
I want to simplify the updating process also.

Aug 8, 2013Designing conveyor or assembly lines in autocad? I know there is Factory layout, but my boss will not pay for the extra softwar. She wants me to get them done with AutoCAD. Im not new to CAD, but she needed me to move to working with line layouts. Also what sites and literature can i study to begin to understand the layout process. Im not talking about 3D tools or part design, its all 2D. Im also looking for the in's and out's of laying out a line for food and bottle product lines. Im thinking the equipment will be a block and possibly being dynamic blocks so that i can lengthen and shorten the parts to fit the space.

But when I try to select a single line, the whole design gets selected/highlighted instead of a particular line in the design. What is this issue and how to overcome it? Mar 26, 2009I am looking to draw my pipe with a thicker appearance than the typical line of width "0". Our storm pipes are usually drawn with this so as to stand out from other utilities. If the pipe is represented by a polyline, I have usually adjusted the "Width" or "Global Width" value to my liking. With pipe objects, it seems more complicated. I have searched the settings, and the closest thing that I could find was the Lineweight property, but that appears to have no effect on the line thickness in the CAD drawing.
Do I need to tweak a plot setting? Make a new linetype altogether?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Remove Feature Line Used As Break Line When Creating Surface
Dec 11, 2012I needed to remove a feature line that I used as a break line when creating a surface. When I removed the feature line from the definition of the surface, the grading did not change. It appears the points created by the feature line remain which is why grading didn't change. The only work around was to delete these points.
I noticed the same thing happens when I removed the surface boundary and inserted a new boundary. why these points remain and how to remove when I delete boundary and feature line from surface?

Sep 30, 2013 I have a line or a pline segment and i want to start a line from a point laying there and go perpendicular outwards. Is there a way to do it with tracking?
Yes, i saw the command draw line at an angle but i find it a little bit complicated for a simple task like that. I am sure autodesk have a simplest solution about that.
If i am already at the draw line mode and i can easy catch the tracking perpendicular to previous segment but if i want to start from another line and go perpendicular i cannot make the tracking work.

I have changed the line weight in the layer properties, in the Profile properties and tried changed the line weight in the pen style. Everywhere I could think I try to make the line thicker but when I plot, the line is still the same and difficult to distinguish from the grid blocks of the profile view.

Sep 2, 2013I am looking into switching to AutoCad Civil 3D from MxRoads. Up to now I have been using Mx and have a large back catalogue of roads work all in MX formats, Input files, Genios etc.
Given that Mx is string based and Civil 3D appears to be section based, I'm wondering if when you import a genio created in Mx, is there a way to "link" a carriageway string to the master string, without having to recreate the alignment from scratch. If I needed to do a quick change to a vertical alignment or a road widening I want to be able to do without reinventing the wheel! I need to ensure that the program can recognize the relevant way string that matches the Master string.

Jun 24, 2013How to do a stream restoration design with corridor modeling. for the low flow channel pool, i will have alternate riffle and pool sections. my understanding is riffle for X feet, then pool for Y feet, then repeat, per the riffle to pool spacing requirements.
my question is regarding the left pool and right pool sections. please see attached images. for left pool, width A > width B and vice versa. A+B is the same for both left and right pools. left pool assembly has to be applied when the centerline alignment is curving outward to the left side, right pool when curving outward to the right side.
is there a way to specify in corridor modeling when an assembly is to be applied based on the direction of the centerline alignment curves?

Jul 23, 2013The following video show a dam in China using Infraworks and Civil 3D URL....
During the first 25 secs or so, there is a sequence showing a disposal area created in Civil 3D but with a texture that isn't the draped aerial image (and there are further examples of this elsewhere).
How does one get surfaces etc that aren't derived from a corridor to show in this way in Infraworks. There doesn't seem to be any workflow in the available information to address non linear projects.
Additionally the 3ds Max workflows seem to be geared up for linear projects e.g. roads only - any tips for non linear projects e.g. earthworks platforms?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Subdivision Design Workflow
Sep 13, 2012Conceptual design process for a new subdivision with say 100+ lots, and 5-6 roads within it.
What I'd like is to learn a workflow that lets me adjust the alignments/profile with a minimum amount of effort to re-layout 100+ lots, and which lets us explore design options more interactively. Once we pin down a few alignment options, I would create a simple corridor with multiple baselines to develop the grading concept.
One thing that irks me so far is that the Create ROW command is nice, but it's not dynamic to the alignments.How do you handle cul-de-sacs on this process?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Elevation Design Value Is Greyed Out
May 31, 2013I am pretty new to subassemblies and corridors and I think I have the jist of it but I have a few questions.
How do I lower stations of my corridor? I am making a grassed waterway and my corridor seems just ride on the surface. I get to the parameter editor but the elevation design value is grayed out, so I can't change it.

Aug 8, 2013We're moving to Trimble Access on the survey data collectors which means that we have to export design data using Trimble Link and then use Trimble Business Center to examine the data and do any editing before sending it to the field.
So far I've found that alignments, profiles and surfaces seem to transfer OK. Corridors however have been an almost total failure.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Design Profile PVIs Disappearing?
Dec 15, 2013Working in Civil 3D 2014 SP1 I have a Design Profile that I have created by setting the Existing Profile to 'Static' and Creating a Copy of the Existing Profile... This leaves me with a Design Profile that follows the Existing Surface. The problem begins when I delete a section of PVI's and introduce new 'Design PVI's'... I have found that at apparently random times my Design PVI's have been lost and replaced with the original copied PVI's that follow the Existing Surface. This has occurred more than once and I can't find any reason as to why this may be occurring...?
Currently using Civil 3D 2013 & 2014 SP1
