Is it possible to create a block with a 'mask' or 'wipeout', or whatever ACAD has, that is in the block so that when inserted, it blocks out whatever is behind it? I need to create a sprinkler symbol for a reflected ceiling plan (RCP), but my RCP has a lot of graphic hatching and needs to be blocked out wherever I insert this sprinkler block.
I have a block containing several parts blocks. When I explode the main block all of the parts are exploded back to lines. I have used both "explode" and "xplode" and have the same results. How can I explode so I have my components as blocks?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have attributes (annotative text) with a background mask in a block? Our intention is to include text to describe the status (demolition, existing or new) of various equipment.
The drawings themselves (lines, hatchs, etc.) would not be scalable or annotative, but we do want the text included to be annotative.
We normally include a hatch behind text or drawing elements (with a 'ByBlock' color) so we can 'manually' give it a background color of our liking and then scale the block in question. This way, the 'manual background' automatically scales with it.
However, with the annotative way of doing things, our solutions doesn't work anymore because blocks like these ones are now insert at a 1:1 scale and the text included will scale accordingly. I'm looking for a way to add a background mask to an annotative attribute.
I'm looking for the best way to create some sort of background mask in my blocks.
I'm using blocks as my mechanical symbols, to be inserted into my piping and instrumentation diagrams.
The diagrams contain several lines, and in the past the company would simply trim out the lines around the symbols. I would like to stop trimming the lines by simply putting an invisible hatch/mask around my blocks.
It would seem that after closing a drawing with the wipe out frames set to "D" (Display, but don't plot), then opening that drawing, the wipe out frame state is set to "On".

I have hundreds in some drawings, so I am trying to do a mass editing through lisp, but it won't remove just the wipeout, the text grouped with it gets deleted too.
what's the best way to create a block that has the MTEXT in it?
Meaning whenever I insert this particular blcok, I can easily edit the text while it automatically? to the middle point of the wall?
Why I can’t see this title block, it opens fine with no errors, but I cant find it in drawing, when I open it separately then it’s all fine but when I importing it to other drawing I cant find it.

I have revived an old project that was started about 2 years ago. I went to attach my title block in paper space and the drawing was itty bitty.
Seemed unusual because in another layout the title block is there with the same page setups etc.
Then I looked at the block units and they were set to mm. Can it be changed? If so how? Or am I completely hooped?

I'm starting to wonder if I need to reset my program. When I click on my blocks, it won't allow me into block editor. I checked, and my Blockeditlock variable is set to zero, which should allow me in. But alas, it does not. When I type in "blockeditor" it says "read only". Which it's never done before.

View 6 Replies View Relateddynamic block in a drawing - when i make a change in the block editor, it doesn`t apply in the model space although i save all the changes. There is also another dynamic block and this time everything is working properly - all the saved changes appear in the model space. The only difference between the two blocks is that the first one has attributes. I think attributes should not be the reason for not applying changes, but i just don't know.

When I insert the block, a copy of the block is placed at what seems to be an arbitrary distance away. As I fill in the boxes for each attribute, it appears in the image away from the insertion point. After I am done, the completed block appears filled out where it was inserted. I have never seen this before. Is there a setting affecting this?

i.e. I have a outlet recept thats a MVB. I have it linked to the space with has the circuit number for the electrical panel. Is it possible to tag a MVB similar to tagging a window?

Why can I not check the Annotative Scale box for the attribute? Please see attached. The circle scales up and down but I only see the text in the 1/8" scale and but not in the 3/16" scale. The 3/16" scale is selected in the attributes scale box.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am ACA 2013. I received a file from an equipment company and has these blocks that are huge in file size, so I am cleaning things up on them. Their blocks have multiple layers in them with different colors and linetypes. I see the setbylayer command and it works, but not all the time. On some of the blocks, they have attribute text in them. the individual lines of the attribute are on different layers. I want to keep the info, but set all to layer 0. then I can move it to the block to the layer I want.
another question, is there a way to make an outline of a block? Some of these blocks are so detailed that I want to make a simple outline and then delete the block.
I am electrical engineer and I have little experience with autocad . How can I calculate the number of acertain block in a 2D plan , such as the number of electrical socket in abig plan with autocad 2010
View 2 Replies View RelatedOne of the guys here has created a title block which has a scale field in it, this field reads the scale at which the title block is brought in, by use of an invisible attribute (he used the block in model space so that's why I scale them up). When he xref the dwg into my main drawing all is fine and the scales are as they should be but when he prints, the scales all show 1:1 on the print and in the main drawing. Could this be due to the fact that the xref is brought in at 1:1? But we can't see why this would change it as the block is obviously still at e.g. 1:50 in the xref.

I recently added a block ( by dragging & dropping from our dws block library file) to our shared Tool Palettes. The block showed up properly on everone's computer the day I added it. However each morning when we restart our computers the block is no longer on the palette and I have to redrag & drop it. I thought that prerhaps I needed to export the updated toolpalette, but when I go to the customize tool palettes dialog box and right click on the toolpalette I don't see the export or import options. I am at a loss. We are using AutoCAD Architecture 2013

I am inserting some blocks at specific pipe locations through dotnet and would like to anchor the blocks to the pipes in case the pipes have to move.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was in Block Editor and when I hit the save changes button it closed my drawing. Now when I open the drawings, the only thing in it is the block, but it is exploded. I can not find any of the information that was in the drawing. The file size is still 1.3 MB. I would have to lose the 3 hours of work I have done and go to a previous version file of the drawings I was in.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is something that we’ve seen intermittently on our and others' Macs:
you hover over the pin of an active brush and the overlay appears.you move off the pin, but the overlay stays.when you now continue to brush, the overlay is erased in shrap edged, blocky strokes as if the brush was a square shape with no feathering.
From all I can remember, it seems to be triggered only by larger brush sizes. Toggling the brushes panel or the overlay usually clears it up. It seems to be purely a display glitch not affecting the actual brush.
We’ve seen this happening in LR3, so it’s not new.
When I trim or move a block (roof trim mostly) there is an outline of the block I am working on, I know the solution, if you move the block over, it moves but the outline stays where the block used to be, then I copy it back and delete the outline or original block that made the outline and its back to normal.
-Trim BUg02 is my trim after its been trimmed with mysterious outline left over
-Trim Bug03 is my trim after being moved with mysterious outline left in objects original place
i just upgraded to 2013 and my dynamc block functions have dissappeared. the ones that flip doors etc.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I create a block on layer 0 and then create the block as a 1 inch by 1 inch block so it is easy to scale up to the size I need but when I try to insert the block at the scale I need it wont resize it to the correct scale. It stays at the 1 inch by 1 inch original block.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a dog leg laundry door and window and finally got it to work but when I open the door the window pane moves with the door, also the window does not show up in the plan view. The cut plan is set at 1400 and the window sill is at 1200.
