AutoCAD Architecture :: Create Door And Window Block Style?
Aug 30, 2011I created a dog leg laundry door and window and finally got it to work but when I open the door the window pane moves with the door, also the window does not show up in the plan view. The cut plan is set at 1400 and the window sill is at 1200.

May 28, 2013when i export (or explode) my plan every window, doors etc... split in more "under-blocks", and that's ok. but i have a problem with the windows: after the explode command, one of the blocks inside (the one that shows the opening side) "jump" in the 0,0,0 coordinates point, but all the others remain in the right position.
PS: i think the problem is not in the window-block, because i tried it in another old file, and it works. and the autocad option are also always the same.

Mar 15, 2013I have two windows that are above my cut plane (far above) but still insists on displaying in plan view. This of course ruins my plan drawing so I need to fix it. I have tried several different 'Object Display' options but none have worked so far.
I don't understand - I thought default was for them not to disappear when above cut plane?

Jan 31, 2013I tried to load/insert a specific window style through use of the design palette but couldn't find the right type within the generic window styles that came with the software. I needed an 8 Blade x 150 glass Louvre Blades Window with a few standard openings currently used in our industry. In fact I needed to design several standards of these which I did but saved them as blocks with the dwg extensions.
In fact I really desire a way to design one that would be possible to be integrated into the styles drawing in the default location (C:/Program Data/Autodesk/ACA 2013/enu/Styles/Metric/Window Styles (Metric).dwg.
I understand that these default styles can easily be loaded into design palettes, entered into constructed walls and modified to certain specs in the appropriate dialogue boxes.

Sep 6, 2012Sometimes when we place a window in a wall we can grab the grip and stretch it to any size we want. Other times the only sizes we can use are the standard sizes. I know how to add a standard size but how can we make it to where you can just strectch it to any size we want?

Mar 22, 2012How to reposition window within wall? i have a window put into my basement wall with footing as shown. unfortunately, the window aligns on the symmetry line of footing itself (as i believe the footing is taken as the overall wall thickness). i want the window to be aligned on the wall/cavity thickness only.
i prefer to have it default in this window or wall style rather than playing around with anchors and other ,,reposition tools'' for each and single window in my basement plan.

Nov 7, 2011I'm having a problem with my properties window or floating palette. When I select an object, such as a "line", my properties palette refreshes itself for about 3 seconds. When I hit esc, or deselect the line, it takes another 3 seconds to refresh itself. You can even see the properties palette start at the top and go blank as it travels downward. Very slow process, I can not get anything done. IF I close my properties palette, it does not have the delay, but I can not work without it. When I reboot, it works fine for about 5-6 selections, then jams back up.

Jul 23, 2011All my layers are turned on, when in an existing drawing my schedules do not appear when I use the tool to create them. When I open a new drawing draw a wall and a couple doors, the schedule inserts when I use the annotate tool. I am only using a basic floor plan at the moment, no xrefs or anything else, simple walls and doors and inserted from the program. I did use tags for the doors and windows which worked fine.

Aug 16, 2012Mostly I create door/window assemblies from an elevation sketch. I make sure that the DW tool on the tool palette has all the attributes I want for the new DW. Problem is that most times the attributes do not travel across to the new DW. I have a double hinged frameless door that I want as an override assignment.
And although the infill panel style has been defined in the DW style, when I use the infill panel override assignment, the double door style is not available from the drop down box. I have copied and assigned the DW to a new style, saved - closed - opened the drawing, but the double door style is still not available in the drop down box.

Sep 15, 2011I am having a nagging problem related to window and door cleanups in walls. Certain walls seem to lose the opening for a window or door. Sometimes, disconnecting a wall from another at a T or L insection clears the problem, but when they meet again, the all openings in that wall disappear. It looks fine in plan view, but 3d aspects of the wall are affected. This problem is also inconsistant. Quite frustrating. I've a attached a series of jpegs that illustrate a current issue.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Change Position Of Glass (proximity To Exterior) In Window?
Apr 7, 2011Am using the "pre-defined" walls in Autocad Architecture 2010, with equally pre-defined windows.
I have found where to change ("Edit window style") virtually every parameter of the window, e.g. frame and sash depths.
However - I can not find a way to change the position of the the glass in the window relative to the interior/exterior of the wall. (see attached image for clarification)
I hope I am making myself understood - the glass could for example (assuming the depth of the frame is the same as that of the wall it sits in) be located 40mm from the exterior of the wall - or 10mm.
AutoCAD Architecture :: Missing Menu Tabs (File / Edit / Window)
Jun 26, 2010I recently loaded AutoCAD Architecture 2008 and the menu tabs for File, Edit, Window etc were all missing. They are replaced with a tab that says M-Color 9.5. When i load the program with older files (from this morning) the menu tabs are there but then they disappear. How do i get them back?
Also in addition to that my toolbars are gone, but i can recover those when i have my tool bars.

Jan 9, 2012I'm trying to send a set of drawings for my consultant. They will be using it as a background for their mechanical and electrical drawings and they only need the 2d information. They want to be able to explode them and remove any items they don't need before switching all the layer colours to grey.
When they get the drawings and explode them the doors and walls explode onto the correct layer but the colour of those object and lines are now set to the actual color of the layer rather than colour "bylayer". The line actually take on the colour of the layer in the properties dialogue box. Therefore when they change the colour of the layer to grey the doors remain 'red'.
I would like the doors/walls to stay on their respective layers...AND their colour to be BYLAYER when exploded.

Feb 1, 2012I have a model with 5 reference drawings. Everything has been going fine. I am making modifications in 2d wireframe view Then I change to realistic view and conceptual view and see that half of my windows have disappeared and some doors. I open up the first floor plan and see that most of my windows, doors, and openings are not cutting the walls. It just happened and now I cannot get them to anchor in the wall.I did purge, -purge R, audit, recover and closed and reopened the program. No Change! What could have caused all of these objects to lose their anchor?
