ACA 2012: Is it possible to add a column to my door and window schedules that automatically shows the area of the door/window(or area of Glazing) and then have a total area column at the bottom of the column?
View 3 RepliesAll my layers are turned on, when in an existing drawing my schedules do not appear when I use the tool to create them. When I open a new drawing draw a wall and a couple doors, the schedule inserts when I use the annotate tool. I am only using a basic floor plan at the moment, no xrefs or anything else, simple walls and doors and inserted from the program. I did use tags for the doors and windows which worked fine.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have ACAD Arch 2012 and I am trying to associate my door tags with my door schedule and visa versa. I get as far as creating the Door Schedule with all the doors on it and quantified just the way you would want to see it; however, the "Mark" remains "A" for every door. I discovered that I can change the Mark on the extended properties of each door, but I believe there should be a better (and more linked) way to accomplish this. Since the program already recognizes how many doors there are of a specific style it should be able to put sequential "marks" to each door, for example "A", "B", "C", etc.
what's the difference between Door Tags - Project Based and regular Door Tags?
i have created a door schedule and it seems to be missing the most important part, the sizes! When I go into Style Manager and click on the door shcedule and try to add columns size does NOT come up as a choice. I have added size to the property sets of the doors. I have tried everything I can remember from older versions of Autocad and it just won't put in this bit of information.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI use ACA 2012 for residential design - I have a wall style, 2x4 stud w/ 1.5" airspace and 3.5" brick (modified from the stock styles) - but whenever I insert a window, it makes it as wide as the wall (9") when it should be only the depth of the stud wall (2x4 or 2x6) - How can I fix this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMostly I create door/window assemblies from an elevation sketch. I make sure that the DW tool on the tool palette has all the attributes I want for the new DW. Problem is that most times the attributes do not travel across to the new DW. I have a double hinged frameless door that I want as an override assignment.
And although the infill panel style has been defined in the DW style, when I use the infill panel override assignment, the double door style is not available from the drop down box. I have copied and assigned the DW to a new style, saved - closed - opened the drawing, but the double door style is still not available in the drop down box.
I am having a nagging problem related to window and door cleanups in walls. Certain walls seem to lose the opening for a window or door. Sometimes, disconnecting a wall from another at a T or L insection clears the problem, but when they meet again, the all openings in that wall disappear. It looks fine in plan view, but 3d aspects of the wall are affected. This problem is also inconsistant. Quite frustrating. I've a attached a series of jpegs that illustrate a current issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a dog leg laundry door and window and finally got it to work but when I open the door the window pane moves with the door, also the window does not show up in the plan view. The cut plan is set at 1400 and the window sill is at 1200.

In Autocad Architectural 2012 if I typed 'wall' I would get several options for walls. If I selected 'A' (add) it would bring up the properties panel and draw the necessary walls. This does not work in Architectural 2013. Where to I access the wall/window/door pallet?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is linked to me previous door query. We are working in a bit of a vacuum here and I am really interested to see how people set up their door families / types / instances for scheduling - as we are struggling to identify a 'best practice' approach.
At present we have set up a host family for the doorset that contains the opening and framing, with a nested doof leaf family in which is nested a door furniture family (and possibly vision panel face hosted family as well). It seems quite complicated, and in the current setup all the door / frame / leaf parameters are established in the door Type, and we have no Instance parameters other than Mark, level etc.
We are trying to set up a system where we will have Types for:
Main Door Assembly Type (dictates the frame type, overall fire and acoustic resistances)
Door Leaf Type (Thickness dictated by the fire resitance set in the host)
Door Furniture type (Door furniture set on the door leaf type)
We intend to have 'Door Furniture' nested in the 'Door Leaf' Nested in the overall 'Door Assembly'
There is another potential set of Types for the Door Frame / Architrave - which for the moment we have only as Profiles with their own parameters.
It does seem to be getting very complication, with lots of Types and I'm not sure whether that approach is worth the time in setting it up.
I was chatting to someone who says they deal with most of the parameters as instances within a handful of Door Types (1 Type for each main elevation appearance for a door, so 1 type may have instances of FD30, FD60, FD00, Veneer Finish, Laminated Finish etc.) This seems far simpler than our approach, but I'm not sure on the trade offs in flexibility.
I was hoping to set up a door family set that we could use from project to project that has quite a bit of flexibility. How do you arrange your doors / schedules in a typical project ?
I working on a deadline with little sleep, but I cannot believe it is this hard to get an overhead door to look right. All I want is a 1" thick frame, the same depth as the wall AND the door slab to be INSIDE the frame like a real overhead door.
The attached PDF shows the standard OH door on the left with the stupid door centered in the frame. The door on the right is one I created by inserting a cased opening in the wall, then manually drawing a rectangle and dashed line for the OH swing. All I am interested in is getting this right in plan at this point. Using Architecture 64 bit.
--Is there a way to do a door schedule by styles rather than individual door?
--To clarify: I want my door schedule to create a new door number only when one or more of the property sets, classifications, or door styles pertaining to a door are not defined by other doors in the schedule. This would facilitate giving the same door number to multiple doors that have matching schedule information, and cut down on my schedule size.
--how to do this. If I need to create custom tags, schedules, or formula properties.
Is there some way to create a table with percentages? Example:
EXTERIOR MATERIALS
BRICK VENEER 3,451 SF 43%

I'm attempting to create a room schedule for my floor plan that shows Room Number, Room Name, Area, and Ceiling Height. First off, I would like to tag the rooms with just the Room Number, and not both the number and name - can that be done? Second, I'm able to schedule the Room Numbers and Names correctly, but the Area and Ceiling Height columns are filled with ? marks.
This is strange because I can clearly see the space area in the properties tab when I click on each space. *In the attached screenshot, note how both the base area and space height are visible in the properties tab when I have a space selected.
I have a drawing where I have to cut a door and window into a small room. I have been able to layout the location of both, but when I highlight to erase around the nodes, it just erases only those. I used the extension object snap to layout the location of both. put nodes on the ends, and centers, of both objects.

Currently I have a command in drawing express that increases the door number each time I paste it to allow easy door/window numbering with a prefix. We tend not to create window or door schedule from these we just need to be able to number them quickly without editing the text manually each time.

I created a Dr & Wdw Assembly w/ 3 French doors w/ 3 Transoms above. It looks great. However, the door panels in Plan view are closed. Yet the in the properties dialog box it says they're each 90 degrees open. I can change the number, but the door remains closed. What needs to be tweaked?
I made a door tag, tagged all 128 doors and during a check set noticed that the text in the tag is the wrong font. I opened the tag and changed the font, saved and regenerated the drawing. The font in the current door tags did not change. To be sure I changed the correct tag I added a new tag and the font is correct. Why do the current tags not update? Do I need to do something? I do not want to go back and redo all 128 door tags.

The right is my 2nd floor RCP, in which I cannot get the door jambs (orange lines) to turn off. Cut Planes are set identically in the two dwgs. I thought the Display Configuration settings were identical in the 2 dwgs, but clearly they're not.
View 4 Replies View RelatedCurrently our door schedule populates when the doors are inserted into the drawing. I would like to know if I can set the schedule up so it populates when the door is tagged. Our doors are inserted into a base plan and that base plan is xrefed into various sheets.
The doors are tagged in one of these sheets and not the base plan. It takes too much time to stop and set up the schedule to schedule the doors across the xref for every project we do. I have read several articles but none of them explain how to schedule from the tag that I can see. I thought this was how the schedule was set up in a previous version.
I am trying to number my doors, and the door tag (AEC6_Door_Tag), won't let me create door numbers with 3 digits. I have never had this problem before. It keeps creating tags with 2 digits.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe do residential design, our doors and windows need to read 3068 and 3050 etc. I have tried everything but I cannot simply get it to work.....This is what I have done:
*Insterted a door tag from AA2014
*I exploded the tag twice and deleted the circle around the text
*Renamed the nested block and edited to include "OORSIZE"
*Went to style manager/the plan/Doc Objects/Door styles/definition/ changed it to read "STD Door Description"...
