Jan 12, 2012I am a new user and working my way through the AutoCad Training Guide AutoCad LT 2012 No Experience Required. In Chapter 9 is Creating a Dynamic Block. After creating a block and inserting it into a new drawing you are able to open the block editor and begin using the Authoring Palettes. In my case the Authoring Palettes are blank except for a a blank Create a New Palette.
Under the Palette's Properties All Palettes are checked as on. How do I turn on the ones shown in the book? Constraints, Parameter Sets, Actions, and Parameters.
AutoCad 2D :: Difference Between Tool Palettes File Locations And Authoring Palette File Locations?
May 30, 2013I am new to using Tool Palettes. I have created a folder on my C: drive which contains all my tool palettes. Right now, I get the symbol of a circle with a line drawn through it and cannot use my tool palettes.
In the Options tab, I noticed that there are the "Tool Palettes File Locations" and also "Authoring Palette File Locations". What is the difference between the two? Do I need to do something to both so I can use my tool palettes without difficulty?

Apr 2, 2012I work for the IT department of a company who uses Civ3d 2011.
We've a problem that when the software is deployed to machines it doesn't display the tool palettes. After some investigation and following steps on this website I've identified that the issue is the tool palettes are installed inn to the profile of whoevers account installs the software. if its deplyoed this will be the Sys Admin account and not the profile of the relevant user account.
What is the location of the tool palette settings within the registry or the relevant configuration files in the profile so that I can either script or embed it in to the package?

Sep 14, 2011I've got a .PDF of a survey attached (not overlayed) to my site plan construct...on a printable layer. In my sheet it shows up. When I print preview it's there. When it comes out of the plotter it's not there. If I print the PDF by itself through Acrobat it prints fine. Is there a bug here?

I have download the sp2 and it seems to fix the problem, but then it comes back again. Some PC are working and other are not.
The only workaround I have got is to remove ACA from the regedit and run CAD again or run the update msi.
AutoCAD Architecture :: 2011 Switching Drawings By Itself?
Apr 8, 2011Several users here in my office have been having a strange issue with ACA 2011. When doing various things such as, saving, regen'ing, or manually switching between open drawings, ACA will "blink" to a completely different drawing.
For example, right now I have 4 drawings open. I'm trying to go from drawing A to drawing B. It goes to drawing B and starts to regen model space, then it blinks back to drawing A. Does the same for any of the 4 drawings. Only way to make it stop was to close drawing A.
As I said, it not only does this when switching drawings. It'll also do it after it's done saving and when I try to regen.

I have a block for a closet rod and shelf , but it always has to be re-sized once in the drawing so i must explode it. since it was made on layer 0 it explodes to that layer and I have to change the items to the proper layer.

May 23, 2011After I plot to pdf, I get an error message: You do not have a PDF viewing application installed. Go to the internet and dowload a pdf viewer. The problem is that Acrobat Reader X is installed on my computer. I saw the thread about Reader X having spooling issues, so I reinstalled Acrobat Reader 9. Still get the same message.I can go to the file afterwards and open it, despite this message, but it is supposed to open from Architecture after it is plotted and it won't do that.

May 22, 2013I am having issues with drawings from a consultant. They are sending us DGN files and they do not seem to want to import in the latest AutoCAD Architecture 2013 I have deployed throughout the offce. However, these same drawings have no problem in importing to AutoCAD Architecture 2011. In 2013, I get no activity once I select the file to import. If I click on the screen once, the program dims and the program says it is not responding. But I have no problem with 2011.

Apr 29, 2011When I give keyboard commands to open, save or save as the program freezes. Pulldown menu to open and save work fine but pulldown save as freezes and freezes when using commands on "A". Happening in 2009 also. Same thing happened yesterday, repair did not fix it, so uninstalled and reinstalled and all was fine. Now today freezing again.
Had a blue screen message yesterday when I turned on the computer, bad spooler something. Are these problems related or just a coincidence? Using Windows XP. Autocad is up to date as is Windows.

Apr 28, 2010After upgrading to ACA 2011 in plan view I am unable to snap to the edges of walls. Toggling the osnap setting check box to allow object snap to act on wall justification lines seems to have no effect as it always snaps only to the justification line and to nothing else. This is extremely annoying and makes it impossible to dimension to the face of a wall that is center justified. Is this a bug or am I missing some new setting somewhere? All my layers are unfrozen including layer 0.

Sep 23, 2010I'm having an issue where AutoCad Architecture 2011 is crashing on some but not all machines (4 total) when a file is closed.
We are also getting what appears to be random slow downs on files when opening and a jumpy mouse that makes drawing impossible. I have not been able to establish a pattern to point at specific files to being the problem as it happens across several the are fine one day, not fine the next and fine again a day later. All stations are identical.

Mar 23, 2011I have a sluggish jerky cursor (and it’s not the operator) when you are NOT in a command and while you are creating your selection set in the command. The cursor jumps and reappears @ ~1 sec intervals so you have to anticipate your mouse move to do anything. OH...and it's only happens in model space.
I tried several settings I found on the internet but nothing works. It's only doing it in 3 drawings right now. The latest one was working fine until ~10:00 this morning, then it started in...no issues before this.
It really makes AutoCAD 2011 basically unusable as it takes 5X longer to complete each command!

Jul 30, 2013I would like to preface this post by stating, for the purposes of this message, that I have absolutely no understanding of the workings of AutoCAD. I have looked at many forum discussions concerning my issue and I am simply unable to understand the terminology and/or concepts being described.
I recently purchased a new computer for my office. Accordingly, I needed to install AutoCAD on this new machine. All of the machines in my office are running AutoCAD 2011. However, after addressing some licensing issues with AutoDesk, I received a license and installer for AutoCAD 2012. Everything was installed correctly (as far as I understand) and the program itself is working fine. The problem I am running into involves the text style for the files I open:
For files saved on AutoCAD 2011, the text style used is Arial. Simple; no custom fonts. However, when I open that same file in AutoCAD 2012, the text style for the entire file has changed to Franklin Gothic Book. (Note that all files are accessible from all computers in the office through a network drive)
That is my only understanding of the situation. As I mentioned earlier I have very little understanding of the workings of AutoCAD. I have had this problem for almost a week now and I am no closer to understand this issue, much less solving it.

May 3, 2011Multiline text appears dark with a true type font. I have searched the boards and changed the Z coordinate to "0" manually, as well as the flatten command....still no luck. The text was generated from the QLEADER command, but the problem also applies to text created with MTEXT. I have attached the .dwg.

The files are located on each machine. Jun 29, 2011AutoCAD Architecture 2009 - Something new started today!!! Working in either design or construction workspace the Properties tool bar will not operate. When I select an object and roll over to the Properties Pallette it simply starts to blink and does not open. Also, the Quick Properties panel will not open. Background, the new file I am working on was last saved on my laptop and transfered via a thumb drive. I have done this often with out a problem. However, the laptop is a new one with Windows 7 and my desktop has Windows XP.

I have tried repairing my installation of autocad with no improvement.
i tried opening the drawing of the block itself, copying it, and pasting it via the "copybase" command into the other drawing with the same result.
Occasionally, autocad will ask me if i'd like to debug the program (and visual studio opens) -- it mentions a "StackOverflowException" within acad.exe, and also mentioned "windowsbase.dll".
I am using windows 7 pro x64 and autocad 2011.
CPU: intel i7
Graphics: NVidia GeForce GTS 250
8GB DDR3 ram
The autocad error-reporting dialog never gets launched as it is forced to close before this point.
