After Effects :: How To Rotate Objects Along Horizontal Orbit Facing Camera
Feb 28, 2013
I want to rotate three objects along a circular orbit, horizontally. But I want the objects always facing camera. I added the three objects to my comp, added a circle shape layer and rotated it to lay horizontally, then placed each object along the circle shape, rotating it slightly for each new object, then parenting each object to the circle once it was in the right place. From there, I added a camera and a null, parented the circle shape to the null, and set keyframes to rotate the null along the Y rotation.
The result is that the objects indeed rotate along the circular orbit, as I want, but they TURN as they rotate, which is not what I want. I've tried applying "Auto Orient...Orient Toward Camera" and "Orient Along Path", neither of which work. I've applied this to the null, the circle shape, and the objects. They all still turn.
Here's a screen for some context: Using CS5, but have a trial of CS6 if that's useful
I created a 3D object (a Doctor Who TARDIS) just for fun and I'm trying to figure out how to animate it spinning in space with the orbit camera and keyframes. I do the orbit and the keyframing works fine, but when I play it back the whole thing zooms in and out madly, almost like it is throbbing in and out. This funny "throbbing" happens in between the keyframes.
The zoom attribute in the camera options is actually locked, the only attributes changing as I move along the timeline are the position attributes, which I am keyframing off.
I'm making a video for my geometry class where I will be making a cube with it's corners labeled. I would like to move the camera around during the video, but I also want the letters to always face the camera.
In 2013, just placed a view in an idw. Now I need it rotated 90°. In pre2012, there was a rotate Horizontal and Rotate vertical command where we could pick the edge and it would align to it.
Has that been taken out of 2013 or am I just overlooking it? Restarted Inventor and that didnt work. I did not restore the marking menu because I have some customizations that I dont want to lose.
For what its worth, Wiki help shows the "Rotate View" command in the video..... maybe I don't have the full version...IDK. Looks like I am missing several commands here, like Apply Design View.
I am trying to create a wheel that can be rotate about the horizontal axis. It should have a hole for axle to fit through. However, when I try to do this it will not let me select the horizontal axis to rotate about. I also tried to rotate about a center line that I created but it wouldn't do that either..
Windows 7 64-bit (Service Pack 1) 3.40 GHz Quad Core processor w/ Hyperthreading 8GB Ram ATI Radeon HD 6450 1GB Ram
I need to rotate a snipped of text approximately 23% forward from horizontal.
I'm using 2.6.11. this is what I'm doing:
Open a new file. Select the text tool and type in text (I've tried this both on a new layer and on the background layer). Click on the rotate tool and click on the text.
Inevitably, the gunsight appears in the center of the whole page, though the textbox is selected, and when I rotate it the text stays stationary and the rest of the page rotates.
I have a grouped object with a line in it. I want to rotate the grouped object so, that the line in the object is horizontal or vertical. Now I do it by hand, this takes a lot of time.
I don't know how to phrase it correctly but the 3d camera tracker inside of After Effects will only apply key frames to the null object. This causes the footage to rotate around itself.
I am working on a project where I am incorporating 3d text into a shot with an onscreen talent speaking to the camera. I am trying to get the text to only move when the camera moves such as a pan or a hand held shake, making it look like it's part of the environment. It will track with the camera and looks great until my talent /subject moves, then the text moves with the subject. What am I doing wrong in my tracking? I have looked up tutorials and articles searching for others who have had this problem and cannot find anything that replicates my issue. Every tutorial I've seen does the same thing with fantastic results but I can never get the text to not move with my subject.
I have made a short film of 6 minutes (in 6 parts on after effects) I have added all the effects and the camera work on AE, but it needs a lot of editing here and there, which I find impossible to do on AE since you can't cut and join scenes like Premier pro. I need to import all these sequences onto premier pro for editing now. The problem is once I import the files, it imports in the right order in systematic folders etc, but it doesn't show any of the camera work or the special effects like gaussian blur etc. All my hard work has gone.
There must be a way you can import the after effects file on premier the way it looks on AE.
Another problem is I read some boards and it has been suggested to edit the clips first on premier and then add effects on AE but I read this really late and I've already composited the whole film on AE. I just need premier for cutting now.
P.S: I also thought about exporting the AE sequences as TGA files but there's ZERO space left in my internal hard disk for that, and it would take forever to export them all anyway. Any other kind of export would reduce the original quality which I dont want, and which I dont have space for anyway, so that option is out as well.
I've taken a photo of a display frame, and I need to align it perfectly horizontal in order to not crop off parts of the frame when editing out the background. I know how to move images back and forth with the crop tool, but it's not very precise, and I definitely don't want the frame in the image partly chopped off because I can't get it angled just right.
Apply filter > Lighting effects to an image (300 ppi RGB) and when photoshop renders the lighting, there is a horizontal line through the image. It is not a screen or video issue, it is in the image and has to be retouched out like corrupt image. not a transparency issue, tried different file formats, flattened image first, etc.
WHY?
Had this happen before, but now in Cloud V6 is really aggrevating. People have been posting about this for at least 3 versions with no answers.
I made one scene in 3dsmax 2013 in 24fps.Is just a move and rotation camera animation. In another software(after effects) I made interpretfootage as 24fps, and the composite 24fps.
The final move apear like droping, jumping frames, a not cool sensation,May be just montion blur, but realy, apear like 3dsmax animation interpolating as 30fps.but in begin i already set the scene to 24fps.
when using the ViewCube to rotate the camera around and get a different view, it seems to either have a mind of its own or centered on 0,0,0. I've been working on a project for awhile and when I'm editing and have something selected the camera rotates like it should but doesn't focus on what I have selected and sometimes it does. Does this camera rotate and move around the complete center(x:0, y:0, z:0) or am I missing something? I haven't seen anything posted about it so it may just be me but it is frustrating when you are working on a project and have to pan the camera around, zoom out if need be and find the spot you are working currently almost every time.
Alright, I made a custom bookshelf to fit under my stairs, however, when I created them, I made them on a horizontal plane, so when I loaded into my project, my book shelf is laying down in the middle of the living room floor, which was fun at first, but nearly an hour later I am not so amused. Is there a way to flip it vertically or do I have to remake the whole bookshelf?
How do I extend a horizontal line like such... _________ outwards from both directions left and right simultaniously, basically giving the effect that it is growing longer from both ends out, like such ______________________________. ( and still looking very clean and as the same line, as it extends )
In my work i rotate objects mostly 90 degrees CW or CCW and I always wanted to make a hotkey for it.. There's a command in 3dsmax called "RotateCW" for it, but it doesn't work when more than one object is selected.. also i tried doing it with script :
but this rotates objects only about their pivots even if option "use selection's center" is chosen and even if objects are grouped - it rotates objects in the group independently but not the group as a whole. It's completely inappropriate.
Normally i select objects (or a group), then go in "select and rotate" mode, type in 90 degrees and it works well. So i'd like to imitate this behavior by a script or some other way to set a hotkey for this set of actions..
How do I rotate an object in Illustrator without chaging the angle of my drop shadow? I have a design that I want to place 2 up on a page and then print. When turn and stack them the shadow has changed its angel in relation to the artwork. I don't see where to lock the drop shadow to the object. Or is it secified a different way?
I can't rotate anything in 3ds Max anymore. The only way I've found is to go via the hierarchy pivot box (left hand menu), which isn't much of a workaround.
The rotate gizmo appears, the pie slice appears, angle numbers change when I drag but nothing moves. Is there a quick way of resetting 3ds to defaults? I presume I've switched something on or off that I shouldn't have!
I can rotate merged objects, just not native ones. I grouped a lorry with a box (I wanted to put a logo on the box for the side of the lorry) - when I rotated the lorry, the box stayed put!
I'm trying to rotate a group of objects along an axis that is not x y or z. The objects are imported from Rhino. I also import a line representing that rotation axis. How do I set that line to be my axis?
CS6 - Is it possible to rotate multiple objects independent of one another? In other words selecting say 9 object in a grid then rotating the all 30 degrees on their own axis.
I use Acad and Turbocad selectively. I can't find a way to enable Acad to have object handlers to move and rotate objects. Is there a setting that I can enable to turn this feature on in Acad? I like this feature in Turbocad, but like to have in Acad.
I need some of my objects to always rotate around the same point. How can I select a point which will stay that way? Using the rotate tool resets after deselecting.
Also, I'd like to rotate objects around a certain point even when using the right click > Transform > Rotate.
I have been working on a project in illustrator and all of a sudden, I couldnt use the selection tool to rotate and manipulate objects anymore. The arrows don't even show up to make that sort of action. Is there some way that I accidentally turned off the tool? If so, how do I turn it back on so I can work with it the way it was before?
Lisp routine or macro that will either rotate or align selected objects so they are parallel to an axis on the current UCS?
Specifically, when placing mtext to label an object. I typically align my ucs to the object then create the text so it is parallel to the object. It would be great if I could create the text with a rotation of 0, align my ucs to the object to be labeled and then with a single click, select the text making it parallel to the X axis.
