I have a couple of users who are saving a render job to a network share using After Effects. Towards the end of the render, they get a warning saying "failed to write xmp metadata" It does not ruin the render or anything. It just shows the warning. They have full access rights to the share. What is causing this error?
View 3 RepliesI have converted a large number of Canon and Nikon raw files to DNG using Adobe DNG Converter (version 8.2.0.94).
Using Lightroom 5.2 I wanted to change metadata in these master DNG files. I import the files into a catalog, select all, modify the metadata, then invoke the Metadata->Save Metadata to Files... For many (but not all) of the files I get the following message:
"Could not write metadata. Unknown file formats."
The DNG files reside on a Synology NAS server. If I copy them to a local disk I do not get the above error. But I would like to make metadata changes to the files on the NAS.
I do not have problems importing or viewing DNG files from the NAS. Why does LR 5 have problems writing DNG metadata to the NAS? How can I fix this?
i try to open a saved file in photoshop i get an error message saying "Write to registry failed Options not saved."
it shuts down whenever i hit the OK button.
I got that message when I was trying to export a Quicktime movie - although it appears it's going to let me continue to export the Quicktime - I'm hoping it'll have audio when all is said & done. Although I understand the words, I have the following questions:
1. What does it really mean?
2. How will affect me/my life/the Quicktime file I'm exporting?
3. Perhaps most importantly, why is it happening & what can I do to prevent it in the future?
The file I'm trying to export is the same one from the 7-hour Process time thread I posted about on here recently. It's the simplest possible thing:
- 1 Layer of around 15 "reels" spliced together
- 1 (adjustment) Layer of a single color correction gap effect that runs the length of the whole timeline (don't think this has anything to do with the problem at hand)
- 1 audio track w/ 2 mono layers, L&R, of a single AIFF soundtrack file
we write metadata to jpegs and Raw files- saving to Raw database not as sidecar .xmp files. We are no longer able to save the metadata to Raw files. There is no error message, the data writes like normal and the user who writes the metadata can see it but when you open in another computer the metadata fields are empty, however the jpegs do have the new metadata. Was there a setting change at some point? This has been going on for a couple months and I cannot find an answer anywhere. Again, we batch write to RAW+Jpeg, the jpeg files save the metadata but the Raw files look like the data saved but is not visible on any computer other thant he one that added the new metadata. This is occurring on multiple computers, both Mac and PC.
View 14 Replies View RelatedWhen i open up after effects i get this warning "Your disk cache folder is on a drive that does not have enough available space to safely store the full amount secified in your preferences. please make more space available or go to media & disk cache preferences to change the folder or maximum disk cache size" I think this is slowing up my whole suite. I clear my disc cache folder all the time and i still get this warning. How can i fix this? Also this is a 2 part question if it can be answered i think it may have to do with the first question. When i try to add a cross dissolve in premiere pro i get this "insufficient media. this transition will contain repeated frames" .
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been using AE CS6 on Mac OS 10.7.4 upon release and updated to 11.0.1 when it was released as well, so for a while, but just today I started to get this warning-
"Ray-tracing on the GPU requires CUDA version 4.0 or later. Ray-tracing will use the CPU until you install the latest supported CUDA driver."
I am running a supported Quadro 4000 with the latest CUDA driver, 4.2.7, and about the only thing I know of that I have installed recently was the update for SpeedGrade today. Why I'm now getting the warning?
I'm using a pc with windows 64 bit, and get this warning when trying to analyse the footage with either the 3D camera tracker or warp stabilizer. A warning pops up that says, unable to obtain dynamiclink server connection, and the footage does not analyse. The only solution is restarting my machine.. not very time saving.
Also similar issue, when I am working on a comp in AE and go to open the edit in premiere pro, premiere freezes and closes without opening.. only way to fix this is to either restart the machine, or have opened a premiere project before opening an AE comp.
I need the brush size for the write-on effect to go larger than 50.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have isolated two issues in AE CC where I can duplicate a failed render with this message:
After Effects error: Rendering error while writing file "xxx". An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153464)
This happens when opening an AE CS6 project and trying to render a simple comp with only one text layer and a moving mask. It also just happened after my first round trip test with Cinema 4D. I could RAM preview the c4d layer but the output to Quicktime h.264 failed.
I have even tried a full reinstall of AE CC. I have the basic FxFactory Pro plugins and MagicBullet Looks installed, but neither are being used since this is a single 1280x720 comp with a single C4D layer. Plus like I said it failed with the same error in past CS6 files.
I don't know how to force disable a plugin to test that, but I can't see how an unused plugin could cause a render to fail like this.

I have not recently been saving my metadata to file. I decide to turn this option on in preferances and it took a while for it all data to be written to the files. Most of my files start in Lightroom and get worked on with Photoshop layers, saved as TIFF, and reimported into Lightroom from other folders. My question is, if I went back to Lightroom and made some changes to develop settings to see what it would look like with different settings in Lightroom, didn't use the settings in the previously exported file but left them there in Lightroom since the file had already been exported and saved as TIFF..... can now saving the metadata to file change the way the finished file looks since the settings are different than those originally used to process the file (of note, I do not have save develop metadata to file for TIFF, PSD tyurned on).

This happens when I'm running a few of the more demanding things, it came up when I was using the Vitascene filter and also in Boris Graffiti. Does this mean I should get a better graphics card? I have an ASUS i5 laptop, and as far as I can tell my GPU card is the Intel HD graphics 3000.

Why then when I turn on the Gamut Warning, does it show that there are colors out of gamut?
2.When I load a photo with an embedded profile and I choose the option of USE THE EMBEDDED PROFILE INSTEAD OF THE WORKING SPACE do I still need to go to PROOF SETUP and choose the printer profile to see the colors as they will look when printed? Or is this doubling-up on the conversion process.
I would have thought that choosing the printer profile to proof a photo that has already been converted to the printer color space should not show any difference. Unfortunately it does, so I'm not sure which is the accurate one.
I was creating a digital scrapbook page this morning, and as I went to save, CS6 crashed without warning (as it does 50% of the time for me when I have a project I am working on). Usually, I go to save, or open a new file to work with and the whole program just shuts off on me without a word. It is simply there one second and gone the next. If I am lucky, it has recovered something of what I have done in the past 10 minutes. HOWEVER today, it crashed, and when I opened it back up, it recovered half of what I had done and immediately crashed again, giving me this error message:

This is the first time I have had this happen with an error message. Usually it just closes up altogether and I have to reopen and redo my projects from wherever the last save point was. I have my recovery set to 10 minutes because I seem to lose my files so often when trying to save. This is getting a bit ridiculous and I did NOT have this problem even one time with the CS6 Beta.
I'm fairly new to Photoshop and I keep getting a warning box after I try to lasso a section of my picture off. The Warning says "No pixels are more than 50% selected. The selection edges will not be visable"
What does that mean and how do I fix it?
I just want to know the secret to the gamut warning. I am in a Photoshop class and we are currently doing color correction. My color corrected image looks good, but my image still has a gamut warning. I know that every image is different, but what are some of the basic things ya'll do to get rid of the gamut warning? Is there any type of conversion that you can do that'll get rid of it?

"The MassFX authored in this file was created with a newer version of the plugins. Forward compatibility is not supported so things might not behave properly."
I am currently using PhysX for Max version: 2.7.1.0202.1800 and PhysX System Software 9.11.0621.
Third party plugins installed for Max being used in the scene are: Rayfire 1.57.10; Orbaz Particle Flow Box #2 ver. 1.07 and #3 ver. 1.53. I've gotten this warning in scenes saved from another PC, opened in another, and not even using any PhysX or PhysX capable plugins.
I'm transferring from a high poly source model (5million polys) onto a target model that has 3 levels, no layers. At level 3 its pretty much the same polcount.
Whenever I transfer it come sup with a Transfer Detail warning saying that the target model appears to have more detail than the source and do I want to continue or swap. Surely the source model will have more detail, and I shouldn't get the warning ? I get this warning even I transfer from the source to lvl1 (much lower etc)
We are trying to run an automated process on incoming AutoCAD drawings. However, the process stops if a drawing has AEC object references, because the warning dialog opens (and the program does not deal with it). Is there a programmatic way to disable the AEC warning dialog for opening? Similar to turning off the Proxy warning? Perhaps a Registry setting?
View 7 Replies View Related with saving on Photoshop CC? Quite often it has happened to me that I will hit Command+S, but I won't see the saving bar at the bottom of the document, and if I then close the document it won't prompt me to save, but if I close the file it won't be saved.
If before I close the file I go to the File menu, the "Save" option is grayed out (as if I had just saved), but the file is not saved. If I close the file, I loose all my work
I recently opened a video in PS CS4. Ever since then I get 'pixel aspect ratio' warning and some of the images I create in PS are distorted on screen or when I tile the window and move a layer form one to the other. I can't figure out how to disable or keep this from happening.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I edit any text - be it editing an existing text layer, or with a new one, whatever text is there just randomly and without warning disappears. Doesn't matter wether I'm changing the color, font, font size or any other type settings. Sometimes I just move the mouse while in editing mode and the text just vanishes.
Made a video of the bug in action. Virtual keyboard on screen so you can see that I'm not hitting any keys to make the text disappears. Latest version of Photoshop, CC, OS X etc.

Receive following warning: "Some names of the files being saved will be truncated to 31 characters for compatibility with Macintosh browsers. To change your filename compatibility options, click the Optimize pop-up menu, choose Output Settings, and select Saving Files."
I could not find the Optimize pop-up menu. Therefore, I did not do this step.After save, I simply went to the appropriate folder and changed the file name to what I originally wanted (i.e., essentially correcting the truncation).
In PSP X5 I usually keep my JPEG Compression Factor set to 2. Just occasionally, I find it reverts to the default of 20 without warning. I suspect it is when I use a a Ctrl+F12 Save Copy As or when I change Image Type (JPG/TIF/PSP).

For example if I move something to a layer that is 'off' I get a notice that I am moving to a layer that is off and I then have to drag my mouse up and click 'ok'. I have been drafting for over 20 years and I know this and do not need or want this dialog Also, in the layer manager same issue, 95% of the time when I turn the active layer off I WANT to turn it off I do NOT need to waste my time telling the program, yes I want to turn it off or no I do not.
