View 2 Replieswhen trying to reopen a file from the "recently used" file list? When I try to click on a file from the list it gives me a message stating "error opening file". I know this will happen if the file has been moved to another location, but the files are in the same place as when I originally opened them. None of the files in the list will open anymore. Is this a pathing issue?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have AutoCAD Civil 2013 and AutoCAD 2010 installed on my Windows 7 system.
Whenever I double click on a *.dwg file Windows starts up Civil instead of AutoCAD 2010 to open the file. Even if I already have AutoCAD 2010 running.
I went into the Control Panel Associations and attempted to Associate a file type with a specific program. When I pcik the *.dwg file extension the only option that Windows gives me is "AutoCAD Application". I even browsed to the AutoCAD 2010 directory and manually chose acad.exe but Windows just defaulted back to "AutoCAD Application".
The user has Autocad 2014 64 bit Service Pack 1 running over Windows 7 Pro. Everything is working fine until she receives .dwg files from a supplier that uses Autocad 2010. When she opens those files, the screen is empty, no crash/freeze, no error message, just a black background. The other opened files are still there in the background.
The only way she can open the file is by asking a colleague, also running Autocad 2010, to open the file and convert it using the WBLOCK command. After the conversion the Autocad 2014 user can open the file without issues.
When AutoCAD is closed and I try to open a drawing from the Windows Explorer I get a fatal error and when AutoCAD is opened before opening the file from Windows Explorer everything works fine. We have this problem with several stations at our office.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a way to verify what version an AutoCAD file is without opening the file. I have a customer that requests the files to be in an older version of AutoCAD and for QA purposes I would like to verify that the files we are sending out are in the correct version.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my other designer is having issues getting his ACAD to open directly from a DWG file. He can open just fine using hydracad, or autocad, or acad mechanical, and open the file once inside. The problem only arises while opening straight from the DWG file on our server (or his hard drive itself, doesnt matter the location). Any DWG file for that matter. Myself and another designer are able to open them all just fine, and have no issues. We are all running with the exact same settings of startup (1), and all have the same computer specs.
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5502 @ 1.87GHz 1.86GHz (2 Processors)
8gig ram
64 bit operating system.
Nvidia Quadro NVS 290
and a couple 250 gig Hard drives.
We tried running a repair and it didn't do anything. Not sure what the issue could be. I tried performing quite a few of them for him (even though none of the titles indicated they were having troubles opening just with DWGs, as most were having freezes on the splash screen just opening the .exe).
I am facing problem in my AutoCAD2013 (Ultimate version) -
1.While opening any file an alert message is appearing on the screen, for closing the same I Have to use ( X) close many times.
2 After opening the file every time I have to set the AUTOcad default setting once again, it is taking too much time,
I am not in a position to format my PC now, The snap shot is attached herewith.
I opened a document and it popped up a messages asking if I want to revert to the saved version YES or NO. This is weird because I didn't try to open the document twice. I suspect it is a macro that was causing this problem but I have many so it could take a while to locate the culprit. I also suspect a windows 7 update may have caused an interference with the macro.
View 1 Replies View RelatedGetting a lot of message pop ups about not accessible dst file. In conjunction with this is constant slow down if the sheetset is open with the blue cursor wheel constantly thinking. If the sheet set is closed, this immediately fixes this.
Ruled out network problems as 2012 works fine. I believe this to be isloated to 2013.
Sometimes when loading some DWGs, I get this Warning (plaese see the French JPG capture) saying that maybe I could need : Korean, Japan, Chine, etc language module !
I would like to bypass this Warning automatically because I open these DWGs with a Script to do some automatic actions and I resave them ...
At the Warning question : Do you want to open --> YES
I don't think that I can control this warning (--> Yes) through a special System Variable !?
We use scripts a fair bit in acadLT & from the Desktop icon. The 2014 behavior has changed in that it displays a warning (screengrab attached) before allowing the script to load.
This is going to be a pain for users. I can't see a way to add a folder as a trusted source in LT.
Publish works as expected in foreground, uses proper page setup plot style and color table an dthe results are black on white. But when using PUBLISH in background it shows an error for each ""WARNING: Incompatible or missing plot style"" and the created PDF's are in color instead of balck and white.

We modeled parts in inches. We save as copy to an .STL file to get SLA prototypes made. The parts came back 2.54 times bigger than needed. Reason is the default setting for saving as .STL files is Centimeters.... Not sure why Autodesk did this....but yes I understand it's not their fault, we should have checked under options and changed it to inches.....we just assumed that you model in inches, it would save as in inches....See what happens when you assume....

For the past couple of months we have noticed we are loosing files on the save command with no warning or notice. When the drawing is saved and then closed we discover that occasionally the file did not save and the original version of the file is lost. Sometimes the original version gets saved as a bak file but not always. No warning message shows up to inform that the command was not completed correctly, it looks like the save took place.
Recently we switched to Windows 7, 64 bit machines. All three machines this has occured on match and are saving back to 2010 version. One of the machines is running a trial version of Architecture 2011, the other two are running network licenses of Architecture 2012 with Service Pack 1. The files being lost are all located on a server in the same folder structure, not in the same folder. That server is new and has some sort of mirroring set up to image files to multiple locations? This phenomenon has only been noticed to occur on saving a file from Architecture. We do save other file types to the same folders and have not noticed any going missing. To my knowlege the files never show back up (one of our IT staff suggested the mirroring might be causing a delay in the file showing up in the folder.)
I have an assembly that was created on 64 bit version of Inventor 2013, the total file size of everything is around 150MB. Even if I use 'Pack and Go' to move the file to another computer running the 32 bit version I get an error when I try to open it which says something like:
'unable to allocate 3GB memory for FBAttributeSegment'
The actually figure is over 3GB but of course on a 32 bit version of windows it is physically impossible to allocate that amount of memory (even with the /3GB in boot.ini hack)
I've performed various dynamic simulations as well as animations within the assembly so I'm thinking that perhaps its trying to allocate that huge amount of memory for a saved state of one of those.
What FBAtributeSegment might be and whether there is any special way to save an assembly to avoid this problem? The name FBAttributeSegment doesn't correspond to any part or assembly names.
I should also add that I have no problem opening it in a 32 bit version of Fusion which again suggests to me that it is something like simulation or animation that is causing this
We recently updated all of our software at my company from 2010 architectural desktop to 2013 autocad. We do a lot of architectural work where we use the "wall" functions to draw our floorplans. I have noticed that the walls are disappearing on some files and not on others. Or we will only be able to see the outside line of the wall, but not the interior, which results in an undesirable appearance to the floorplans.
I have also run across these error messages when opening the files, I dont know if they are related or not:
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address E43AA180h"
and
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address D41218AEh"
with saving on Photoshop CC? Quite often it has happened to me that I will hit Command+S, but I won't see the saving bar at the bottom of the document, and if I then close the document it won't prompt me to save, but if I close the file it won't be saved.
If before I close the file I go to the File menu, the "Save" option is grayed out (as if I had just saved), but the file is not saved. If I close the file, I loose all my work
Image (Line drawing). Save for Web (*gif). Receive following warning: "Some names of the files being saved will be truncated to 31 characters for compatibility with Macintosh browsers. To change your filename compatibility options, click the Optimize pop-up menu, choose Output Settings, and select Saving Files."
I could not find the Optimize pop-up menu. Therefore, I did not do this step. After save, I simply went to the appropriate folder and changed the file name to what I originally wanted (i.e., essentially correcting the truncation).
Now that we have switched most of our users over to 2013, we are receiving this error - only randomly, not on most drawings - but until it is resolved, we cannot batch plot, publish, because it dumps the plot. Here's a clip of the error we're receiving. When I run a Recover, it doesn't resolve the issue.
View 6 Replies View RelatedA fellow co-worker accidentally checked the box that says "don't open this file" (or something like that) that appears when a language file is missing upon opening a file from a client. He then also "accidentally" clicked the "perform this action every time" so as the warning window wouldn't appear any more. As a consequence there are now files that we cannot open on that computer. I've searched through system variable lists and come up empty handed.....

a colleague has 2013 and when he opens a file e.g.. Rob's cottage.dwg it is listed/shown as Drawing 1 in ACAD and if he tries to save he needs to browse to the folder and select the file called Rob's cottage and overwrite.......is this a setting I can't recall?
don't have PC specs handy, but was running fine for 2012 and previous versions (on subscription)
When opening a file, or attaching an external reference, the file dialog box does not always default to the last folder where a file was opened for attached from. It was defaulting to the folder at the top of the list on the left side of the dialog box until I deleted the cloud icon. But, there is still a problem with defaulting to the last path accessed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having problems opening an idw created in the 2013 version on my inventor professional 2014.
The idw contains its own template, views, dimensions, details and cuts.
Upon opening in 2014 to release details of the scale is changed randomly and the views are out of the leaf.
I regularly recieve files from Architects and of course they have several xrefs. I have all of particular files that are referenced, however i cannot open the main file and have them load in 2013. I also cannot click reload or even detach and then reattach them. Nothing happens. However if i open the file in 2012 it opens just fine then i can bind everything into one. is there a setting i need to change?
