How to model these lamps and curtains(hung from ceiling) made of threads. I am particularly interested in how to model these to look like natural threads as realistic as the picture.

I'm a model, I need to design a model for window curtains and bed with my blanket.
For example, I took the picture.
I have a problem. The linked model from our electrical engineer its lights are at the correct height but the ACT ceiling is still running its lines throiugh the lights. how do we take care of this to where the linked model which has the lights in it cut through our ACT ceiling from our central model?

My problem: I have a box with a cylinder attached to it. No problems there. Then I have another box which is the first arm of the system. I want the arm to move when I change the length of the cylinder so that the arm is always connected to the cylinder and the cylinder always connected to the other box.
I would like to be able to export from an Inventor .dwg or .idw made up of various views (either made from an Inventor .ipt or .iam) to an AutoCAD 2000 or later .dwg, and have the objects modeled in the Inventor .ipt/.iam that is shown in these views to already be shown as blocked entities when the AutoCAD .dwg is created. Also it is important to have the scale be exactly 1:1 from the Inventor drawing to the AutoCAD drawing that is created, so that no resizing/scaling is necessary. Is it possible to create such an AutoCAD 2D drawing from any release of Inventor and if so, what are the steps/procedure for making it???
I know that the solid model of an .ipt or .iam can be made to show blocked edges that appear as a block so why not two steps further and have this capability translate through to an .ipt or .iam Inventor drawing to a save copy as AutoCAD drawing???
I am currently photoshopping (CS5) this picture and how to reduce the transparency of the curtains (in the bottom half a terrace and window frame are shining through)? I tried playing with the 'Output Levels' on those areas, but the result is quite uneven. If only the folds were parallel I could stretch the top part over the terrace.

I can change it so there is a block of a different fabric but it needs to be more transparent so you can see the curves and folds in the curtain in the origional picture but I do not want to see the orgional fabric. Is there anyway of doing this?
I have created city/landscape artwork using photoshop line and box tools. If you go to URL... then click on the link that says (click here to view Gotham City) you will see one of the images I am talking about. Can this image be made to look the same in vector.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been using Photoshop CS6 for awhile now on a very stable iMac i5 with 16GB RAM on Snow Leopard but recently its behaving very badly. I am having problems with very minor tasks like transform, open, save, move, etc. Photoshop gets hung up and the wheel starts spinning. Typically this is a font related problem but I've done every maintenance task known to man and still having issues. I've deleted prefs, cleared out brushes, action, tools, repaired permissions, my fonts are all clean, has nothing to do with time machine or background tasks (that i know of) yet it still runs slow. This is definitely not a slow video card problem, I have an ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024 with 16GB of ram and plenty of hard drive space. I've ticked off the "Use Graphics Processor" restarted and the problem persists....
SO, i thought maybe i need to update my OS and get up to speed with the new cat, Mountain Lion. Maybe its just not cooperating with Snowy cats anymore. I completed the upgrade last night and I'm still seeing beachball working on 72 dpi PSD files. I've worked on 3GB layered files in the past with no problems.
I am trying to install Photoshop but it get stuck and the system is hung near at 80%, I waited for more than an hour, tried many times but the same result. My system is a P4. 3Ghz 2GB DDR2 RAM.

Have installed new Elements 9 and Premiere 9. All works well, except can't get into organizer without hanging up on this message, 'Restoring People Recognition Data'. It shows 2% progress and just hangs there.

I export to STL thinking that I can print this part on my 3D printer. There are no threads, just a hole. What is wrong with the STL export?
To create realistic threads, I simply sweep the thread profile along a helix with Align set to “no”. (This actually creates the negative of the thread, which must then be subtracted from a cylinder.)
When I attempt to follow the same procedure using a conical helix to produce tapered pipe threads, however, it does not work. When I set Align to “no”, I get an error message saying “cannot sweep the profile”. If I try it with Align set to “yes”, the profile is twisted and the result does not look like threads.
Any way around this issue, or is this a fundamental limitation of AutoCAD?

I have gotten the coil to taper to the point, however, I'm unable to get thread to terminate properly.
Essentially, the pitch remains the same as it moves down the taper, but the major/minor is diminishing until it terminates cleanly at the point.
Can I use diferrent types of threads (as variants), in one iPart/iFeature file, ex. M10x1.5 (ISO Metric profile) and G1/8" (ISO Pipe Threads)? Look at the file in attachment and correct it if possible.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to use sweep to successfully put threads in a hole. Attached is the drawing with a helical coil and an object in two different orientations (A and B). To the right of that, you can see the path they took for each. The object rotated from the original position before following the path. Tried changing the position of the object to sweep, but either it sweeps it 180 degrees from what it is already doing (still wrong) or the program says it is invalid and won't do anything till I put it back in the original rotational position and try again.

I have made threads with the standard thread tool (that doesn't seem to make 3D threads but instead pictures of threads) into solid and once I export the STEP file and open it in Solidworks the threads are missing. I have to export the drawing to STEP for machinist that uses Solidworks. How can I include the threads into STEP file?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a hole tapped from both sides. I did a hole tapped to a depth but drilled through and added a thread feature at the other end. I had changed the hole (from 7/8-9 to 1-8) but the note on the drawing was attached to the thread feature.
I would like to set it up so that the thread feature will automatically be the same as the thread on the hole. I don't get any errors saying that the hole is the wrong size for the thread, and both ends of the hole look the same (which I find somewhat disturbing).
I need to link the threads together. At the very least it should look wrong, and hopefully complain that it's wrong, but I would much rather have access to these features so I can control them better.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm working on some bottle concepts and I have a need to model standard plastic bottle threads. These threads are designated by a diameter in mm and how many threads are on the bottle. Example: 33-400 The 33 is the diameter and 400 refers to a single turn of the cap. Manufacturers like Aptar make bottle tops of various types to fit this spec. I happen to be looking at dispensing lids (think Heinz Ketchup bottle). While I've found specs for Major diameter, Minor diameter and TPI, I have found precious little that describes the thread shape itself. I've tried to reverse engineer a sample thread from... you guessed it.. a Heinz Ketchup bottle. I feel that my venier caliper and micrometer are not doing this effort justice.

I'm using the coil command to create the thread on the bottle neck. It works okay. An issue arises with the thread termination. The threads on the bottle itself "chamfer" into the bottle neck. While I don't think I can do this with the coil command itself, how to create the "lead-in" for the plastic thread.
We want to substitute drawings with a color-palette. This means, we have to set different colors to different kind of features ( i.e. H7-fitting to red, thread to yellow, ....). We do this manually by now.
I mean, if on makes a fit-hole then automatically it appears in red. All threads he makes are in yellow and so on. Is there a chance to make a feature-based color-table in inventor and if it is so.
