View 1 RepliesI cannot xref a construct into a view dwg using PN. I get error "Could not reference file <construct> in <view>. Same problem whether I use relative or full pathing. But I can manually attach the construct using the XREF command. So I know it is not a file/folder permissions problem. What's annoying is that I did get it to work with one construct but not another.
I am using ACA 2013 and I see that there is a service pack 2 update.
I have several different views xreffed into a single view, should'nt they all share the base construct? i.e. If I want to overlay the lighting plan, HVAC plan and my reflected ceiling plan- they should share the first floor construct. Instead each one brings in the same base construct and then when you overlay them, the walls interfere and you get wall errors.

and probably more, but when you consider how little functionality the loss of those three buttons give me, you can understand how little use I am getting out of CS6 so far.It makes no difference whether I use 32-bit or 64-bit.

Is it possible for a civil 3d structure to be displayed correctly in profile view when the alignment does not pass through the insertion point of the structure. See the attached screen capture.
The rectangular structure is a storage tank and there will be a pipe coming in on one end and the exit pipe will be on the adjacent side at the far end, just as the alignment shows - but the structure doesn't show correctly, or now how I expected.
How do you make a wall that's not rectanglar (in plan view)?
See attached image.
The brown color at the end of the wall indicates the polygonal shape which should be part of the wall.
Is there a way to get the "view type" of a view using iLogic? for example;
-detail view
-section view
-exploded view
Or any way to differentiate between the types of views? I'm trying to write a rule that renames all detail and section views in a drawing in Alphabetical order. A,B,C,D..
When I drag the ribbon over to my 2nd monitor the configuration of the ribbon changes to a tabbed display. Is there a way to keep the tool type view of the ribbon (panel) on the 2nd monitor?
BTW...this is in drafting & annotation view.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust switforeveched to AutoCAD 2013 from 2011. I kept the classic interface as I did since forever. This is the problem I am having now. After I created a viewport in a layout, I right click on the viewport border fully expecting a menu to come up so I can set the type to be 2d hidden. But nothing like that occurs. The help menu came up. How do I get the viewport menu to set the view type?

If I have a "idw" file open containing an assembly (asm), and another "idw" file containing a part (ipt), how can I determine, using a VBA macro the type of file that I have used (either "assembly" or "Part")
If the "Idw" file contains an assembly, running the maco should say "assembly". If it contains only a part (ipt) then it should say "part"..Is this possible using a vba macro?
I have several students working in 2012 or 2013 PC & Mac education edition who set the line type properties correctly but the line does not "read" correctly. Checked global scale factor, listed the content to confirm layer and line type as hidden, etc., checked the properties, made sure the line type and color were set to "by layer". It doesn't matter between model or paper space - the lines will not read.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble constructing the roof for a 3d model. I have attached drawings which should allow you to visualise the type of roof I am aiming to construct.
I have had a go at using the box function then using slice to get the solid into the right shape but then I am unable to slice it at an angle as shown by the red dotted line on my attachment.

I try to use the ACA .Net c# API to add a new construct to my project. Currently in 2013.
In the samples I've found one for basic Projetnavigator things, but adding a new construct isn't covered.
I'm starting to set up Sheets from our template but none of the construct is transfering except for dimension lines. The views are drug in from Project Navigator. Elevations are fine, but when the viewport window is made larger the construct isn't there. I've attached an example of what is supposed to be the floor plan.
I've edited the walls but that made no difference. They are set to start at 0". Is there anything I haven't checked? I'm supposed to go to contract with these drawings next week.
How do I construct a sort of compound curve using Autocad?
What I got is a circle or arc of about R=6. A node or endpoint about 5-6 units away from the center. I want a curve of R=10 to create an arc to go through the endpoint, and be tangent to the arc too. I can visualize it, but cannot draft it.
Now, I realize that there are a few possible solutions, but only one applies. I tried using the 2P function on curves, but instead of being tangent to the curve it comes up at a right angle to it. I can draw a tangent solution within a couple of seconds, but a curve?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to drawing something similar to the attached image on either side of a "U" shaped rod.
The "U" shape is drawn using a sweep of a circle (the hatched section on the atatched image illustrates).
I just can't fathom how to draw the solid at the top oneiter side.
I've been trying to add a plane at an angle, then draw a circle & try to sweep that for each half of the "u", but after a few hours, total fail

1. When in style and Standard editor with default standard selected under Standard I am trying to display mass properties in my view label.Select View Preferences tab. View type Base. Next to Display select Edit View Label. When Format Text box pops up in the selection for text type I have two options.
a. Properties - Model
b. View Label Properties
2. Inside an IDW file right click on view and select edit view. When Drawing View box pops up there is the option to access Edit View Label next to View Identifier. When Format Text box pops up in the selection for text type at this point there are seven options.
a. Properties - Model
b. Properties - Drawing
c. Drawing Properties
d. Sheet Properties
e. Physical Properties - Model
f. View Label Properties
g. Sheet Metal Properties
Questions 1. Why are ther only two options in S&S Editor?
2. Can I add more options to S&S Editor?
I would like to add mass to my lablel inside certain templates and have it show when I display a views Base view label. Not ot have to maunually add it each time it is displayed.
This has to be a bug in the program. I created a part, added a standard 5/8" threaded hold in it. It looks great.
I export to STL thinking that I can print this part on my 3D printer. There are no threads, just a hole. What is wrong with the STL export?
To create realistic threads, I simply sweep the thread profile along a helix with Align set to “no”. (This actually creates the negative of the thread, which must then be subtracted from a cylinder.)
When I attempt to follow the same procedure using a conical helix to produce tapered pipe threads, however, it does not work. When I set Align to “no”, I get an error message saying “cannot sweep the profile”. If I try it with Align set to “yes”, the profile is twisted and the result does not look like threads.
Any way around this issue, or is this a fundamental limitation of AutoCAD?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried in vain to construct a planetary gear train in Inventor 2011 & the spur gear generator hasn't work much since the results are far from good, I have problems getting all the gears to fit together. The Internal gear has a diametrical pitch of d=120mm & the smallest gear a diametrical pitch of d=20mm, the outcome should produce a 6:1 gear ratio. The 3 other gears only offer stabillity, but I still need to know how I get it all to fit together with my measurements?

I've created a 3d sketch with the run of the tube on it but when I click "Derived Route" although the full 3d sketch is highlighted bugger all happens. There's nothing in the "Included Geometry" folder.
Is it because of the material? I've set it to a "Tube With Bends" and set my default radius.

How to properly model a screw thread around the point of the screw.
I have gotten the coil to taper to the point, however, I'm unable to get thread to terminate properly.
Essentially, the pitch remains the same as it moves down the taper, but the major/minor is diminishing until it terminates cleanly at the point.
