Aug 17, 2012I have a model i created in 3ds max 2013 but need to render it out as 9 foot wide by 11 foot high .in the rendering engine i can only find 800 by 600.

AutoCAD Inventor :: 2013 Hangs While Rendering Model With Decals
Apr 3, 2013I'm using Autodesk Inventor Pro 2013.
I have a middle complexity model, with several decals (,jpg, Using Mask), projected to different parts. When I start Studio, and start rendering, Inventor hangs. The render window opens, but it freezes on Translating and soon both of the windows are not answering. I've checked th CPU. Inventor uses around 1G of ram, during regular use. When I start rendering, slowly it goes up around 5,5G, and eventually the Windows freezes. Rendering the same model without a decal works fine.
I've installed all the Windows updates, and the Inv2013 1.1 Service Pack. Nothing worked.

AutoCad 2D :: 2013 - Cannot Copy In Feet - Only Inches
Aug 24, 2012When I had ACAD 2008 I used to copy objects and type 10' or 4' for the distance3 rather than 120 or 48. For some reason in ACAD 2013, it does not accept my distance in feet anymore. Do I suddenly have a setting off in ACAD 2013? I used to be able to work much more quickly and I work with large distances when copying.

May 2, 2013I received a .dwg file from S. Korea with dimensions and units all in the metric mm and I need the units to be in feet and inches. Is there a command to switch dimensions and units to imperial feet and inches?
Rather than changing units in command UNITS Inches and Architectural, and SCALE 25.4, is there any other way to switch metric to imperial systems. Scaling somewhat does the trick but, provided dimensions remain in mm.

Nov 19, 2011I've been using AutoCAD for about eight years now for architectural support in 2D. Lately drawing models for my smaller parts and rendering to get the message across. Problem is rendering. I can never remove the segmenting of arcs and circles even in the highest of setting. Does AutoCAD have fundamental problems with rendering solids? I've used 3rd party programs for rendering also with the same results.
Example of my setting:
Viewres = 20000
Facetres= 10
Whiparc = 1
segments in a polyline curve = 30000
3ds Max :: Rendering Model - Shadow Noisy
Jun 27, 2012I have this issue in rendering my model: the shadow is noisy. I tried to modify the image sampler, the type of shadow, the GI engine, shadows parameter but nothing happens.
Render is 8000pixel wide, standard direct light, vray shadow, irradiance map - brute force.
AutoCad 3D :: Partially Rendering A Model?
May 29, 2012As I'm in the final days of my master project the combination of boredom and stress has struck, resulting in me moving to 3d for the first serious time.
What I'm trying to model is a train station based on a 2d design drawing I have already made. Creating small models for objects is not too hard, but for some reason AutoCAD only seems to render a limited area of my drawing, as shown on the attached JPEG.
Restarting AutoCAD solves the problem for a single render, but after that the same issue appears again.

For instance, in the model I'm working on, in the model, the object is blue, when I render it, it's grey. Is there a setting I need to change?

I modeled up 6 cable QCDC's and have to position them in front of an imported Tiff file in model space so that it appears they are installed in the scene depicted in the image. I applied a gray plastic material to my models and when I go to render the scene, the Tiff file and my models are all faded drastically.

Mar 20, 2013Out of nowhere my AutoCAD commands such as line, offset, circle, etc will only work if i type in the amount in inches. I use feet / inches when i use these commands. It says specify second point... Not sure what this means. For example I want to offset a line 15'-8". It won't let me do that. If i offset a line at 146" it lets me do it.

May 17, 2012The Substance Maps are not rendering with the NVIDIA Mental Ray renderer in MAX 2013.
The maps display nicely in the view port and render with the Default Scanline renderer and the Quicksilver renderer. It also doesn't render with the NVIDIA iray renderer. The same Substance material setup renders fine with the Mental Ray renderer in MAX 2012. What's UP!!
Revit :: 2013 Rendering - Blue And Yellow Pixels
Jul 22, 2012I downloaded Revit 2013 and this is the first project I started working on. I rendered a few cameras and they turned out ok, but all of a sudden the rendered images turned out blue and yellow. I didn't make any changes in the materials or lighting, but they still turn out the same. I even tried rendering in another computer but nothing changed. I attached the image.

I have a rendering image in PNG format that I want to have dimension. These dimensions will be in all 3 planes.
I want them allinged to object sort of like what you get when you view dimensons in perspective (first arrow is bigger than second arrow text is getting smaller as it goes further away etc.).
Currently I import my image and draw each arrow, each line, slant the text and it looks so-so... not the greatest and it is A LOT OF WORK. Then i print the dimensions to and image and combine the rendering and image in GIMP.

Jan 16, 2013I think I'm pretty close to understanding how to get realistic interior lighting with nice soft shadows etc. However, I can't figure out how to get the sun & sky background to stop putting all these spots on my walls!
I previously made a version using 1000 "rays" for "Final Gather" and it looks a bit better....but it's still spotty.
How to get genuine soft shadows sans spots from the sun & sky background?
I've played with every parameter I can think of, but nothing smooths out the spots even a little bit.

Jul 11, 2012I have an AutoCAD drawing (I did not create it) of a proposed trail in my city, and I've been tasked with making some kind of model or render of a section of it. I'm at a loss for how to even start, unfortunately. In the end I would like to have an accurate 3D model of a boardwalk section of the trail with surrounding terrain. I have Sketchup, Google Earth, and Revit at my disposal.
My first problem is topography. When I import the CAD drawing to Revit it seems there is some topographical data, which will be needed to realistically build the boardwalk on top of. I was able to get the terrain of the area into Sketchup from Google Earth, but then I don't know exactly where to build the model.
I've attached an image of a floor I created in the outline of the boardwalk. The area in question begins at the two handicap parking stalls (represented as the two blue towers for some hilarious reason) and ends at the second square (a viewing platform). My preferred method would be get an accurate topograhic site in Revit, build the boardwalk, and then place surrounding vegetation so I can get some renders.
EDIT: I've attached "Screenshot 2" which shows I found I was able to create terrain in Revit by selecting a layer of the CAD file. However that layer is suspended above, and my placeholder floor is underneath. Now I just need to get the floor (representing the boardwalk) to go along the terrain.
AutoCAD 2013 :: 3D Model Of Helical Gear
Feb 2, 2013I have created a 3D model of a helical gear. The process followed was to use the profile of one tooth, which by the way is a true involute shape, then displace that profile and rotate it the amount needed to equal the face width of the gear and to match the helix angle. There is also a profile located at the midpoint of the gear. The profiles are all closed polylines.
I then used the LOFT command to create a solid tooth. It looks exactly like it should. I tried to use the SWEEP command but that rotates the profile 90 deg. from the path. Extrude won't work because the path is a 3D line in space.
I then invoked the POLAR array and put 28 teeth around the center of the gear. That too looks exactly as I would expect it to.
BUT - when I try to UNION the 28 teeth into one solid, AuotoCAD 2013 stops working. And that occurs the moment the cursor touchs any part of any individual tooth. If I try to UNION the array by dragging a window over it, it stops when the window gets about halfway over the model.
The computer is a Lenovo S-30 workstation with 8 Gig of ram, an nVidia 2000 with 1Gbyte of video memory and dual 1Tbyte hard drives.

Mar 15, 2013I have a 3d model of a bridge and I would like to cut transverse sections at every pier but would like to get linework just at the spot to create plans and would like for it to be linked so if you update pier it will update section? Is this possible or something very close? Let me know what are the best ways to do this.

I have attached a screenshot of the model & layout respectively. On the layout the color members are the ones not supposed to be there. I have printed the layout, and the result is the same as the screenshot.
