In Civil 3D 2013, when I execute the _area command, i get results in square feet as opposed to acres. Under the ambient settings, the area unit is set to acre. how to get C3D to display my area in acres? I just want it to list the area, not label it.
Also, is there a way to get it to display the area in BOTH acres and square feet?
I was just wondering why when I try and calculate an area using a polyine, I am getting a readout of 1.80401967E+07, when I have it set to give me the calculation in square feet? It is an area of approx. 246 Acres.....is this because the area is so large? I am not sure what the "E" stands for or the "+07" at the end....
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to make AutoCAD2012 display the area of a closed Polyline as Feet- Inch(ex 22'-4") rather than the feet as a decimal (ex feet=22.3333333) as it does when the units are set to Architectural or Engineering?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to obtain the sqare footage of an area with the AREA command. A list would generate about seven or eight lines, listing the square footage, inches, perimeter etc.
Now all i see is one line; the area/perimeter (see attachment). Did i change a setting somewhere to obtain this simplify version of the AREA cmd? Something is not right...
I tried the MASSPROP and MEASURE GEOM, those will not show the square footage. This used to be so easy, what am i missing...
Out of nowhere my AutoCAD commands such as line, offset, circle, etc will only work if i type in the amount in inches. I use feet / inches when i use these commands. It says specify second point... Not sure what this means. For example I want to offset a line 15'-8". It won't let me do that. If i offset a line at 146" it lets me do it.

When I right-click the dwg name in the Settings tab of Toolspace and choose Edit Drawing Settings, then Ambient Settings, I see the Area settings, but in the closure summary, there is also "Square Area". Why are these both there? It WOULD be nice to show sq. ft. as well as acres, but I can't find anywhere to edit it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are collaborating in Revit. While working in a local file, everything seems to be moving along well. After a little while, if we try to save and/or synchronize with the central file, we get the error message; "square feet per foot." We then get another warning that says the file was not saved. We are unable to save of synchronize. The work-around we have come up with is to save as a new local file. This works for some time... saving and synchronizing without problem - but only for a while.

I have a drawing set up to be Survey Feet and everytime i export it to autocad using the export tool it converts it to international feet.

I'm trying to crop a rectangle that is slightly off square, so the cropping rectangle is either clipping part of the image or not enough of the empty space. Is there a way to clip a non-rectangular area?
The images are actually parts of a map as a specific projection, and need to be clipped non-rectangular so they match up.
I’m trying to figure out if there is a way to scale a “border” around a rectangle or square? Or, put another way, keeping an image the same size, but enlarge an inner rectangle or square without cropping the “border.” To try and add context, imagine a bezel used for an arcade machine. A border with a cut-out in the middle to view the screen. Imagine you wanted to preserve the information on the bezel border, but increase the size of the cut out.

I would like to be able to draw squares by the area they should have. So that if I need a square of 50m2 autocad automatically draws a square of sqrt(50) x sqrt(50)
Because right now I have to draw 200 squares with 100 different areas and I have to calculate and manually draw each one of them.
With Gimp you can round the corners of a square or rectangle using two functions: the problem is that doing so all four corners will be rounded, while I am interested in only the two upper corners. Here's an example of what I would do.

For some reason in ACAD 2013, it does not accept my distance in feet anymore. Do I suddenly have a setting off in ACAD 2013? I used to be able to work much more quickly and I work with large distances when copying.

So I would start with a 10 x 15 shape, then have ability to stretch to 12.5' x ? and as I stretch say the 10' width toward 12.5' the other end of rectangle (15) reduces to 12.

View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently upgraded to Gimp 2.8 for the single window mode (which worksbrilliantly in Ubuntu, especially with the HUD).
But the Rectangle Select Tool has a new - but odd - behaviour. When I drawa selection, and then add to that selection, a new "square" is position atmy cursor. (See attached screenshot.) This didn't happen in 2.6 and is abit irritating because it disorientates me slightly, especially if I'mworking quickly.
Is there a way to turn that off (or revert it to the 2.6 way)?
I have a set of dimensions in meters and I am trying to automatically convert to feet. So I am going to the Dimension Style that rules the numbers that I want to convert and after clicking in Modify button>Primary Units I go to Linear dimensions group and change the Unit format from decimal to Architectural and 100 m turns to 8' - 4" not to 328.08'.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my website, especially when pictures are side by side, I try to make all the same, i.e. square. To me it looks better. I have a picture that is rectangle and obviously cannot resize to a square - distorts the picture. I know there is a way to copy the rectangle picture into a square picture frame which allows the picture to be square while not distorting the rectangle size.
But I don't know how to do this. I have watched a video on this but still not clear how to do it.
