Is there a way to get the dual unit option to read in both feet and inches....for instance 32.75 to read 2'-8 3/4" instead of 2.729 ft?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a very simple surface. All of the elevations defining it, are set in feet. When I click on the surface it tells me my max and min elevations are in feet matching the points that I have defining the surface.
Here is the kicker, when I run a distance it is measuring the Z distance in inches and not feet. As you can see by the attached image the distance is 95' but the elevation change is 1 3/8". The actual points defining the surface are 1.28' difference. If I were to do a spot elevation on the surface, it would give me the correct elevation in feet. I am guessing that this is some sort of variable that I have missed, but damned if I can find it.
When I use the distance command the answer displays in inches; I prefer feet of course. How do I navigate to the menu that changes this?

The distance is between two hole axis.
I use Measure Distance tool.
I do not have the “Select Other” option to choose axis supposedly pop up ofter the preset delay time. Seems like Application Option – General – Selection is responsible for that?
But it is checked to ON as on pic attached. My laptop machine works fine with the same settings.
Out of nowhere my AutoCAD commands such as line, offset, circle, etc will only work if i type in the amount in inches. I use feet / inches when i use these commands. It says specify second point... Not sure what this means. For example I want to offset a line 15'-8". It won't let me do that. If i offset a line at 146" it lets me do it.

I have a VBA form coded that we use to generate part numbers and descriptions that then populate the iProperties. We often use the part sizes in the description. I would like to be able to put a button on the form that allows users to use the "Measure Distance" tool so that they can measure the part while they are creating the description.
Any code that I could use to activate the "measure" tool while a vba form is active?
I'm just playing with a rotor head of a model helicopter (see picture). For proper initial alignment, all main parts shall be setup parallel against one-another. This can be done by aligning the length of the ball linkages.
But therefore I need to know the distance of the ball centers. How can I do that? (STEP file for testing with different Inventor versions is attached).
I want to add the Measure (Distance) command to my quick access toolbar. When I right click on the Measure button the "Add to quick access toolbar" is grayed out in 2013.
Also why can't they make it so when I add something to the quick access toolbar stays added to all file types. I have to add it to .ipt, .iam, .dwg...
BTW Not real impressed with 2013 so far.
Using Inventor 2013
When I try and dimesion my drawing it brings up 8' as 8" on the dimesion line, and when I dimension something like 1'-10" it brings up 1'-10''' on the dimesion line. Once i click the dimesnion to attach it to the drawing I click on the measurement tool and it bring up the correct measurement. Is there a way to fix this?

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I had ACAD 2008 I used to copy objects and type 10' or 4' for the distance3 rather than 120 or 48. For some reason in ACAD 2013, it does not accept my distance in feet anymore. Do I suddenly have a setting off in ACAD 2013? I used to be able to work much more quickly and I work with large distances when copying.

Well I type UNIT in the command prompt and it shows inches. I convert it to feet and remeasure the diameter and it still gives me the same large number! What do I need to change? How many of you use unitless for measuring versus feet or inches?
I read up on the Help files and it said that Architectural and Engineering scales are set to feet and inches.

Rather than changing units in command UNITS Inches and Architectural, and SCALE 25.4, is there any other way to switch metric to imperial systems. Scaling somewhat does the trick but, provided dimensions remain in mm.
I've got the Pipe Table style just as I need it except for one thing. I have all circular pipes and I would like the "size" column to display in inches rather than in feet. In the past I was able to multiply this number by 12 in the style composer but that doesn't seem to work anymore.

As I am constantly going between Revit and AutoCAD, which does the opposite, I keep missing the " out of habit and wasting time repeating everything. I need the perpendicular distance between 2 polylines. If I was doing this manually, I would draw a line perp from 1 side and extend it to the other side, check it's length, and delete it. These are pipeline r/w's that quite often have variable width, and are not always parallel.
I am asking the user to select the pline 1st (GetEntity) to get some object data. Then I prompt for a point on the pline where a block will be placed. The block contains an attribute definition for the width. I check to make sure the point is on the pline. I was hoping I could get the user to select a point on the opposite side and force that to be perp. That would give me the width but it doesn't work. I have looked at GetFirstDerivative and rotate that 90 but the examples I found use a certain length. The perp length is what I need to determine.
When I use the measure distance command, I have to exit out of the command before I move on to my next command. I'm used to measuring once and the command automatically exits (in previuos releases). Is there a variable that will exit the command after one measurement?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI imported a shape file drawn with a utm signature with the dbf and shx files associated with it.The field map looks exactly like it is supposed to but when i dimension different places the dim are in what i think are utm measurements( ie .0069).When i draw a line at say 200 feet the line is astronomical in comparison. I can't seem to figure out where to change the scale.I have never used the auto map before and am using the trial version.
