GIMP :: Round Corners Of A Square Or Rectangle Using Two Functions
Dec 2, 2013
With Gimp you can round the corners of a square or rectangle using two functions: the problem is that doing so all four corners will be rounded, while I am interested in only the two upper corners. Here's an example of what I would do.

Suppose we have a standard QR code composed of hundreds of squares and their hundreds of square corners. (e.g., [URL]......)
How can I get Gimp to round all of the internal and external square corners - let's say to a 10 pixel radius?

I want to design a square icon with round corners. How do I get rid of the little white triangles in the four corners? I tried to design my icon on a transparent square canvas but I still get the little white triangles in the corners!!! And it does not seem possible to resize canvas to "fit" image size...

I haven't used illustrator for a while so I'm really stuck on soemthing that should be simple.
I want to create a shape that has round corners on the bottom and square cormers at the top.
I have created two shapes, one with round corners and one with square one.
I was hoping to put them together then use the pathfinder to unite them but this then make the round corner square.
Is it possible to unite shapes with different corners.

I'm looking to use script-fu to automate a process I do at work.
What I do is find images, paste them into GIMP, scale them down, and round the corners.
I've been playing around with script fu to make it automatically scale the image and round the corners, but I've run into problems with the image variable needing to be changed each time something is pasted.
Is there a way I can automate this, perhaps some code that will set the image variable to whatever the current window is, or am I stuck doing "manual labor"?

I've made a script in order to round the corners of my images with one click. Maybe it wasn't necessary, because I could use script-fu-round-corners in the command line, but that's what I've tried, stupid or not:

I am having lots of difficulty with this. I'm trying to create a rectangle that is transparent with rounded corners but I need the rounded rectangle outlined. Now I know how to create a rounded rectangle what I am doing for that is the following;
creating an image, selecting add alpha chanel, then selecting rounded rectangle, invert then cut.
The problem is I need the rounded rectangle outlined. When I try to use the paintbrush with stroke it outlines the image but when I go to save it it saves the whole image including the cut corners.
In essence. I just want to make a rounded transparent rectangle. Then have it outlined. This would be for a web page.

I'm trying to crop a rectangle that is slightly off square, so the cropping rectangle is either clipping part of the image or not enough of the empty space. Is there a way to clip a non-rectangular area?
The images are actually parts of a map as a specific projection, and need to be clipped non-rectangular so they match up.

I’m trying to figure out if there is a way to scale a “border” around a rectangle or square? Or, put another way, keeping an image the same size, but enlarge an inner rectangle or square without cropping the “border.” To try and add context, imagine a bezel used for an arcade machine. A border with a cut-out in the middle to view the screen. Imagine you wanted to preserve the information on the bezel border, but increase the size of the cut out.

Recently upgraded to Gimp 2.8 for the single window mode (which worksbrilliantly in Ubuntu, especially with the HUD).
But the Rectangle Select Tool has a new - but odd - behaviour. When I drawa selection, and then add to that selection, a new "square" is position atmy cursor. (See attached screenshot.) This didn't happen in 2.6 and is abit irritating because it disorientates me slightly, especially if I'mworking quickly.
Is there a way to turn that off (or revert it to the 2.6 way)?

I have a drawing that has a white background.
I would like to add more to the white background to make it bigger without having to stretch it and distort the image.
I want to place a circle shaped outline border around the original image with a set border thickness and color and be able to crop/remove the portion of the image beyond the outline, changing it from a square/rectangle image to a circular image.
If I am not able to change the drawing to have a round outer border from square, how can I make the outer parts past the newly created circular outline transparent?

I know you can edit corners and angles for rectangles and elipses ut is there a way to do it for other shapes?
More specifically, there is a 8 pointed star shape that I want to give more curved points. Is this possible or should I just use the original as a 'template' and and draw it myself?

I use Photoshop 7.0, I use the marquee tool frequently. It always used to have straight corners, but the past week it has started to automatically do round corners. I haven't changed any settings. Why does this happen?I can mention that I use InDesign CS2. I have worked a lot with rectangles with round corners there recently, but every time changed the corners manually. After a couple of weeks though the program started to automatically change every rectangle to round corners. I didn't know how to change this, but after a couple of weeks it went back to straight corners automatically.I use Windows Vista. Initially there was some problems to make it go with Photoshop and InDesign, but now it works fine most of the time.
