With Gimp you can round the corners of a square or rectangle using two functions: the problem is that doing so all four corners will be rounded, while I am interested in only the two upper corners. Here's an example of what I would do.

What I do is find images, paste them into GIMP, scale them down, and round the corners.
I've been playing around with script fu to make it automatically scale the image and round the corners, but I've run into problems with the image variable needing to be changed each time something is pasted.
Is there a way I can automate this, perhaps some code that will set the image variable to whatever the current window is, or am I stuck doing "manual labor"?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having lots of difficulty with this. I'm trying to create a rectangle that is transparent with rounded corners but I need the rounded rectangle outlined. Now I know how to create a rounded rectangle what I am doing for that is the following;
creating an image, selecting add alpha chanel, then selecting rounded rectangle, invert then cut.
The problem is I need the rounded rectangle outlined. When I try to use the paintbrush with stroke it outlines the image but when I go to save it it saves the whole image including the cut corners.
In essence. I just want to make a rounded transparent rectangle. Then have it outlined. This would be for a web page.

View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently upgraded to Gimp 2.8 for the single window mode (which worksbrilliantly in Ubuntu, especially with the HUD).
But the Rectangle Select Tool has a new - but odd - behaviour. When I drawa selection, and then add to that selection, a new "square" is position atmy cursor. (See attached screenshot.) This didn't happen in 2.6 and is abit irritating because it disorientates me slightly, especially if I'mworking quickly.
Is there a way to turn that off (or revert it to the 2.6 way)?
I have a drawing that has a white background.
I would like to add more to the white background to make it bigger without having to stretch it and distort the image.
I want to place a circle shaped outline border around the original image with a set border thickness and color and be able to crop/remove the portion of the image beyond the outline, changing it from a square/rectangle image to a circular image.
If I am not able to change the drawing to have a round outer border from square, how can I make the outer parts past the newly created circular outline transparent?
what i have is a wall decal im trying to finish up. I'v gotten it to size and everything, but there are some very rough edges which i cannot get rid of. i''ve tried everything that comes to mind. anyone have any tricks that you can share? basics?

Why does this happen?I can mention that I use InDesign CS2. I have worked a lot with rectangles with round corners there recently, but every time changed the corners manually. After a couple of weeks though the program started to automatically change every rectangle to round corners. I didn't know how to change this, but after a couple of weeks it went back to straight corners automatically.I use Windows Vista. Initially there was some problems to make it go with Photoshop and InDesign, but now it works fine most of the time.
