Our computer is used by several people and somehow the rectangle marquee tool lost its square corners and now only shows rounded corners.How to change the marquee tool back to the square corners?

View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently upgraded to Gimp 2.8 for the single window mode (which worksbrilliantly in Ubuntu, especially with the HUD).
But the Rectangle Select Tool has a new - but odd - behaviour. When I drawa selection, and then add to that selection, a new "square" is position atmy cursor. (See attached screenshot.) This didn't happen in 2.6 and is abit irritating because it disorientates me slightly, especially if I'mworking quickly.
Is there a way to turn that off (or revert it to the 2.6 way)?
I use Photoshop 7.0, I use the marquee tool frequently. It always used to have straight corners, but the past week it has started to automatically do round corners. I haven't changed any settings. Why does this happen? I can mention that I use InDesign CS2. I have worked a lot with rectangles with round corners there recently, but every time changed the corners manually. After a couple of weeks though the program started to automatically change every rectangle to round corners. I didn't know how to change this, but after a couple of weeks it went back to straight corners automatically. I use Windows Vista. Initially there was some problems to make it go with Photoshop and InDesign, but now it works fine most of the time.

When I lay out the selected area using the rectangular marquee tool everything looks OK but, when I release the cursor the selected area develops round corners and for instance if I'm cropping something the area affected is incorrect.

I opened an image in a new PSD document, and drew a rectangle marquee around the selection I want to cut. Problem is the rectangle marquee isn't the size I want, so when I use transform selection to scale the selection, it causes the whole image to scale with the marquee I've drawn.
I don't want the image to scale, I just want the marquee I drew to scale into the desired size.
my rectangle marquee tool only draws squares, and will not select like it is supposed to. I cant see anything I could change to make it normal again,

Ive tried loading everthing & anything & nothing, and after that i went to PS 7 help files and it says it has this option under (image ready). Sometimes I wish to select multiple objects with a "free form", for example drawing the selection area with a polyline tool. Is this possible? I am designing a retention pond in an existing surface. I set the base of the pond and execute the grading at the desired slope and it generates the pond just fine, with the exception of rounded corners. I need the corners to be square, mitered corners instead of the round.Â
